Looks like an electric choke? And there's those muffins again.

Hi everyone.

Was a full day. Went to the show in Senoia, there had to be a thousand cars. All of them nice, but nothing really to write home about. I didn't take any pictures. The only car I saw from before was the Bluesmobile. Did see a smattering of Oldsmobiles, one Corvair, and an Amphicar. I thought it was a guy in my club who lives east of the city, but it was this real estate chick who has billboards with her car on them with her name and company. One car I didn't see was this 1970 442 Pace Car, with every conceivable option on it.

Got back from the show and put in some laundry, and while that was going I went out and pulled weeds by the garage. Was a beautiful day, sunny but not too hot.

Watched TV with Mom after dinner, slept through most of it. So now I'm gonna hit the sack and sleep in tomorrow. Gotta psych myself up for Walmart in the morning. After that I don't know what.

Have a good evening everyone.

My last thread was all jacked up, apparently I tried to correct it and got messed up. What I tried to say was yesterday I went to my class reunion and later went to Owosso speedway for Destruction Races or whatever they call it. Reunion was great. "Races" were stupid...More like a circus than racing. Glad I went but prolly wont go again. They had push races- where one car pushes another- pull races- where one car pulls 2 others with chains, School bus races, races where cars pull a small camper, races where cars pull a boat, figure 8 races, backward races- (clockwise) and "Stacker" races- where a Ford Edge SUV has a Ford Focus welded atop it!! The stackers are driven by 2 guys one above in the Focus steers and the other below in the Edge operates gas and brakes!! Really bizarre!

Greg - Destruction Races? Never heard of them - crazy. That stacker race looks totally bizarre. To each their own, I guess. I do enjoy going to a good old-fashion Demolition Derby, though - fun & entertaining. Glad you enjoyed the class reunion. Glad you posted pictures of the 'stackers', I would have never guessed.

Chris - I think you're definitely contagious. I've had two bouts of sour stomach this past week - one garlic related, the past two days I'm not sure what it was - constipated, bloated, sour gut, restless sleep, etc. Finally passed this morning.

I guess I'll work on opening the porch hole some more.

God evening boys we have had really sunny nice weather last weeks so i have used the
Honda on gravel roads , we have washed and parked the Harleys for winter now. Glad you
getting better Chris , we are the same age and our health are the most important thing we have.

Was at the dentist and removed a tooth a week ago and should be back and rip the tooth roots out in november
Well , it,s good when all this are finished and done for now. Was also vising the area were my father is from
and the place the church they had there built in 1350 last to 1689 when they built the church that been used now.

My brother and i made this thing to tear all the weed from the gravel at our homes and it worked very well

Just 4 bolts to remove it from the blade and it fits our both tractors. My brother was getting retired now also so he is
satisfied Hope everybody doing well. ( The 98 works well also and we have had nice rides this summer with the
top down , i,m glad that the mastercylinder was replaced to a dual MC , feels a lot safer )

Let's see here:

Norm, nice wood (haha).

Chris, glad you are feeling better. I thought you were younger than 65, you act it. I'll go look at that thread.

Norm, that's on the unplugged end of the choke, so no exposed power.

Mike, retinal detachment is no BS, my opthamologist and I check every time. I am at risk being myopic. Hope the show went well.

Greg, I have never seen stackers. I've seen school bus figure 8s.

Glenn, that's a nice lake. Good equipment.

I went on a road trip this weekend and returned an hour ago. I mean to take my 72 H/O but the new fan clutch is causing issues. Also, I lost my indoor parking at the destination. So, I took my old van and drove 170 miles to my friends' house, spent the night, convoyed with them in their car to the Springfield, IL Rt 66 show, did it, came back home, had dinner, spent the night, got up, had breakfast and drove back home. 1973 Club Wagon, Ford 302, 3 speed on the column, 4.11s. Got 17 mpg when cruising at 53 or so, and 13 at 63 or so. I was in front on the trip to Springfield and back and went as fast as I could. To get there and go home, I could poke all I wanted.

After goofing around here for a bit, I need to go work on another car's brakes.

Glenn - I love the weed digger. Excellent craftsmanship. Like John, I also love your pictures - very nice.

John/Mike - I know it's for the choke. I like to bust Chris' *****.

When I delivered Magnavox home entertainment centers in H.S. (1968-1969) the business owned both Fords & Dodges. All were three on the tree. I had a blast driving them.

Widened & lengthened 'the hole'. Back breaking work to be honest. Time to make some type of dinner. I'm thinking potato pancakes, apple sauce + sour cream & a couple eggs.

Greg - Glad you had a great time at your reunion! You're right . . . those races look pretty ridiculous, I think circus is a good description!

Yes, I'm certainly feeling better, I've now kept all my food down for 6-straight days now, and finally getting some strength back, and you're right, our health is everything!

Glad you made it to Springfield and back in the Van safely. Sounds like you had a nice time. The Van must really be screaming at 63mph with 4.11's!

Hey guys,

Another long, but very fun day! Amazing how much fun days can be when you're not perched over a toilet for hours at a time!!! LoL

Our StL Old's Club's All Oldsmobile Show was today and we had great weather and a great turnout of cars and spectators. I was sorry (kinda) that I had to leave early to get to Gabe's hockey game. Here's the link to the pics:
https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...8-25-a-188368/

I don't think I mentioned this previously, but based on his stellar play last season, and on preseason skills testing, Gabe got moved up 2 skills levels this season in his age group (11/12-yr olds). I was a little apprehensive about his 1st game against stiffer competition. He passed with flying colors, picking up right where he left off last season. Playing his usual position, Center, he was the ultimate playmaker, with 3 assists and 1 goal, in an 8 - 5 loss. He really, really looked sharp out there. I was incredibly proud of him!

Glenn, beautiful lake and land ! John, I I've said before I love your van. Geez 411 gears! Wonder if you could change whole pig down to 3 somethings?? Is it a 9"? Yes the Destruction deally was just that. We were 2 hours away so we left at 10- wasn't over yet. My buddy did stay and they didn't get over until 11:30. He said when they did the bus races and trailer tows- boat tows that there was parts all over the track. The "Grand Finale" was driving a old Limousine up a ramp into a old motor home!! Meh, not my cup of tea...

Glad you like the pics , thanks. Take a lot of pics with my phone. Yes Norm , the weed digger works nice , thanks. The road next to the lake was earlier
a railway track but the tracks are gone for many years now. Have an ad for the 88 but there is no
intrest for the car , not suprising when the engine needs to came out. So i,m figure if i should take
the engine out before it,s to cold. The engine runs but zero compression in cyl number 5 . Have a
warm place to work with the engine under the winter if i decide to do it , hmmm.

Hi guys,

Dawn and I just got back from an awards ceremony for Gabe's Boy Scout Troop. His Troop has an Awards Ceremony every 6-months to recognize advancements in Rank and Merit Badges earned. During the last 6-months Gabe achieved his Boy Scout 1st Class Rank and earned a whopping 9 Merit Badges (list 1st pic). I'm pretty darn proud of him!

List of Merit Badges earned in the last 6-months.

The boy just keeps growing. He just turned 12 in January. I'm 5' 9

From what I recall of the merit badges, woodworking and chess were gimmes, the other seven are some work. That's a good load for one week at camp. When I worked my second year at scout camp, I got my little brother to go Provo (without his troop) for 3 weeks. He got something like 20 badges. LaNoChe was a hard working scout reservation back in the 90s. Us aquatic instructors were the swinging dicks of the bunch; I could teach anything but water skiing and windsurfing. That would be: swimming, lifesaving (both of those in the pool), rowing, motorboating, canoeing, sailing, and I helped with BSA lifeguard training. I don't miss living in a tent, the food, and the Floridian summers outside, but I was damn near indestructible those years.

I will relate a story. Gabe can do this, too. My second year of staff, I was 20. 20 is a weird time in the scouts. You are over 18, so advancement has stopped. Maybe you can do eagle palms. But, you are not 21. 21 is the legal adult. You have to wear the knots as an adult. Under 18 you wear your rank patches. 18-21 is either option. So, I was 20, just back from my high school away from home, and doing something before college for the summer. Worked at the scout camp. Dropped my troop insignia off the uniform, joined the camp's explorer post, wore some of my dad's old patches. But, and here's the point, I was Eagle and had the big, bright, red, white, and blue, with silver border Eagle patch. That thing is ten times the looker of any other patch. I was entitled to wear it for that summer, and I did.

I was accosted by a non-Eagle scoutmaster who told me I had to wear the knots. I quoted chapter and verse and told him to get stuffed. I haven't been a Boy Scout since that summer.

So, 18-21 is a neat window to still be in Scouting. If he earns the big bird, make sure he wears it until he is 21. Screw those knots.

Good morning everyone.

Well over 30 and we're an hour and a half to lunch. Some guys were saving wheels from yesterday, and a wall guy found them and gave them all to me. So I started with about 13 right off. I've got a good team today so they've been cranking them out. Makes for a good morning.

Chris that was the first thing I thought when I saw that picture. The boy is taller than granddad. Dawn is left in the dust! Wouldn't his name not be Nixon? I was reading about the scouts and it's all way different than when I was a kid. Good for him that's he excels in it.

Tiger is not doing terrific. His skin bothers him something terrible, he has licked the hair off his armpits(?) and mostly off his chest, he has licked and chewed holes in his side that bleed. I was giving him Benadryl in place of apoquel and all it did was make him a zombie. So I stopped the Benadryl and now he's getting nothing. I went to the vet to make an appointment(no walk in's anymore) and the awful woman there said I couldn't get in until next Tuesday if I wanted a late appointment. I believe she would put Tiger's health at risk just to get at me, we sort of had it out a few years ago(I was right, she was a bitch) so she's not in a hurry to do anything for me. I'm gonna call them this morning and make an appointment for any time tomorrow and then take the day off. I'm not waiting another week just because some dike doesn't like men.

I got home from work early yesterday, since we only work 8 on overtime, so I tried to get my truck to start. The battery went dead and I took the Suburban over to jump it off. There's no electricity at the shop. All's it accomplished was burning 40 minutes of diesel fuel. It might have been my cables, they are old and crusty and probably have tons of resistance built up in them. A new set is definitely a good idea. I'm gonna borrow a good battery out of one of the cars and swap it in just to get the truck over to the house.

Time for a walk. We're in a lull and I've been sitting too long. Hope everyone has a good Tuesday.

Mike, it sucks when people are "ist" to others. Seems like some groups get in trouble for it and others don't.

John - Thanks for all the interesting info, very illuminating! For the most part it sounds like you both enjoyed and got alot out of it. Both of my girls achieved the Girl Scout Gold Award, the equivalent of Eagle Scout.

Mike - Gabe's last name is Nixon because my daughter Blaire was never married to Gabe's biologic father, and at the time of his birth my daughter wanted him to have her/my last name. Now that Gabe is older, Gabe has been given the option to change his last name, but for right now he is saying he wants it to remain Nixon. I think Gabe is proud that he's the only grandchild carrying on my last name.

I feel so bad for Tiger and you! I know it's killing you to see him in such distress, and not being able to get him any relief! It sounds like the Vet you've been going to are a bunch of douche bags??? Are there any other Vets within a reasonable distance you can try? I really feel for both of you, and I am sincerely hoping you can find some relief for him.

Thanks Chris. There are other vets around but they don't offer boarding, and at this point I don't want to make a bunch of changes that will stress Tiger. He doesn't understand the drama, he just knows that's the place he goes. I just called and the awful woman answered and put me on hold, I hung up. I'll call back in a little bit and hopefully someone else will answer. I've been going there for over 20 years. The man that started it retired and his son took over and is surely a douche bag. They went from walk in only to appointment only. I read online that if you go in with an emergency they charge you a $115 "emergency fee." Prices are off the chart. If I weren't established with them and walked in, I'd certainly walk out after talking with the desk staff for 20 seconds.

I got an appointment for tomorrow during the day and I took off work. The awful woman kept answering the phone and putting me on hold. I figured she wouldn't make the appointment. She said, didn't you come in yesterday to make an appointment? I said I didn't want to wait a week. So tomorrow afternoon. Now I can stay up late, sleep in, and get something done and take care of Tiger after lunch. All in the middle of the week. A nice interlude.

Mike seems to me that you have to go somewhere else for Tiger's care. In such a big place as Atlanta is there a emergency care place for pets as there is for humans? Seems like a needed service.

Good morning everyone.

Ah how nice to sleep in this morning, to a whopping 8oclock. Well, it's 5 hours later than I would have. Beautiful sunny day and cool temps. I've just been lollygagging around, not in a hurry. It's nice.

Greg there are several vets in my area but they all have mixed reviews. I suppose that's like any place. I've never taken Tiger to another place and the reason I put up with this place is because it's all he knows. I make sure he's seen by the good doctor and the good assistant, so it's all good for him. I'll put up with the crap from the others as long as Tiger is okay. Now, if I lived up by you I'd go see Dr. Pol. He'd have Tiger diagnosed and feeling better before we even got out of the car.

So my plan was to do some running around this morning and hit the Awful house early then go to Tiger's appointment. Hasn't worked out that way so far, I might get motivated after I take a shower and get ready for the day. Or I'll do it later. Twist my arm to stay home with Tiger and just chill. Hm. I like that plan better.

Okay have a great Wednesday. I can only imagine all those people at work, where I'm not. hehe

Hoping to finish in the hole today. When I say finished in the hole, I refer to removal of all current boards & several thousand nails/screws (including the ton of $hit on the ground tossed in there from previous contractors [bricks, concrete, mortar, boards, metal conduit] too lazy to pick up & dispose of their $hit). Next, is to (re)build/frame the supporting structure. There are no blocking boards (between joists) anywhere. I'll make use of most of the current joists employing solid (through-bolt) sisters. Might have time to pick up some boards at the lumber yard. Extremely windy - 20mph - 25mph winds gusting to 30mph - 35mph. I've gone through at least a half dozen Sawzall blades. My Milwaukee Sawzall is probably 35 yrs. old. Solid HD investment over the many years.

Go slowly Norm. Rushing or working when tired is how injuries happen.

John - Good advice. I work safely on all counts which means I work slower than most. Learned through many years esp. during these later years - safety is number one priority.

I grabbed my boards & associated h/w. I'm adding much more weight to the porch which means I'm going to need to fashion/create additional supporting timbers, etc.

Glad to be done for the day.

Good evening guys,

Spent most of yesterday morning and the morning today, switching both my Auto and Homeowner's Policies. I left Progressive for my Auto, and The Hartford for my Home, for a bundled Auto/Home policy with Allstate. Between my 6-month Auto premium, and my 12-month Home premium, I saved a little over $1,700 making the switches! I'm extremely pleased with the switch!

I did not mention this Monday because I've had so many irons in the fire the last couple of days. I had my 6-week recheck on the "floater" in my eye. The Doc said the membrane/sac holding the vitreous fluid within my eye had completed it's detachment from my retinal wall and there was no longer any concern of a retinal tear. He said any remnant floater should now dissipate with time and I should be fine.

Stomach situation has been going well. I've held all my food down now for 9-days in a row with no stomach ache or nausea. I always seem to feel hungry though because I'm eating such tiny, bland meals, but it's certainly alot better than getting sick. Tonight I had a boiled skinless chicken breast, a medium sized avocado, and a large handful of Triscuits for dinner. It was good, but I sure would like a Pizza or a big ol Burger.

Inching closer to the end of the car season, but I have another big Show in Columbia, IL that I'm going to on Saturday that I've been to several times before. It's always a good one. Gabe has another hockey game early Sunday morning that I'm going to. The weather is supposed to be great so it should be another really fun weekend!

I hope everyone has had a great day and has a relaxing evening! 😃
