Girls being rude to other girls? Say it ain't so. It makes Thanksgiving so much easier if everyone gets along.

The box truck seems like a good deal but I was researching insurance online and it doesn't look like I can get around having a commercial policy for it, even though it will be personal use only. And those policies are high dollars a month. So I called my State Farm agent and he's taking his sweet *** time getting back to me. Yes I know SF is going to be sky high. I'll probably end up calling the truck guy back and telling him I'm out. I hate insurance companies.

Finally got around to putting the new battery back in the motorcycle. The pictures I took to remind me of the correct orientation of everything helped.

Got it back in, hit the starter button, and the starter spun like it was propelled by an atomic reaction! Best it's fired in many moons!

After maneuvering conversations w/ two manufacturers regarding my pneumatic/hydraulic pump I've elected to purchase a new (updated) pump. Hoping the needle valve on my current hydraulic hose will connect to this new pump; if not, I'll need to order a new hydraulic hose (separately).

Sometimes it is better to cut and run and pay more for less trouble.

Girls can be, and often are, horrible bitches to each other. I've really only got two men that are pissed at me, and I regret them both.

John - Truer words were never spoken! When I left my home in 2006 and filed for divorce, my girls were a Sophomore and Junior in Highschool. They were really too young and immature to evaluate their Mother's and my splitting up, plus they hadn't been told the whole story, and it really wasn't my story to tell at that time. I didn't start dating Dawn until more than 2-years after my divorce was final, but I was still the villain because I was the one who wanted out and left. When my daughters started treating Dawn badly, I was forced into revealing the whole truth to their Mom's and my break-up, and that changed everything, and my Ex was forced into disclosing the whole story. After that Dawn and I were golden!

Agree. The new pump (I'm purchasing) has received two design upgrades in the past 15 yrs & comes w/ a one yr. warranty. I suspect (perhaps) the useful life of my current pump is likely nearing serviceable end-of-life.

Mike - Maybe a nice home refurbishing/renovation project for you instead of a box truck?

Man if I had one of those I'd never leave the house. I have a feeling the box truck would be cheeper. Looks like it has two seats. It's a bit small for company...

Oh so I went to Summit tonight. Beautiful weather, not hot. Very little turn out. There were two Oldsmobiles. A 69 Hurst Olds, and a 72 442. Whether or not they were authentic I didn't get close enough to tell. But they looked nice.

Chris that's too bad your wife chose to make you the bad guy instead of telling the girls what was up from the beginning. At least it all came out and she had to own up.

Bedtime. Past bedtime. Nighty night.

Good morning everyone.

Didn't sleep real well last night, had quite a lot of pain and I couldn't get comfortable. I guess I walked too much at Summit. I didn't think I did. Having trouble walking today, almost feels sciatic. Eh, who the hell knows.

Work is steady but slow this morning. Going into lunch I'm at less than 20. Lots of big wheels again, they take a long time to fill with air. Actually nitrogen.

It was a crisp fall morning out at 345 this morning. No clouds, lots of stars, bright moon. Temp around 60. That's nice, but it can warm up now.

Time for lunch. Hope Tuesday is treating everyone well.

Mike - Sorry to hear about the return of significant pain. I hope you can find out the actual cause and find some permanent relief.

No Norm, I run Ridex through once a month...

A glorious evening. It actually gets a little chilly over night. We may have a last heat harrah before it's all over.

I'm feeling a little better this evening. I didn't jump around this afternoon and just took it easy. Hope I can sleep better tonight, which in turn will make tomorrow better.

Okay have a good night everyone.

I know I get stoved up when it's busy and stressful. Then, be at your destination a day or so and out it comes. When I fly to Japan, once I get to the hotel room, the first thing I do is teach that Japanese toilet who's boss, then I sleep for about ten hours. Then I go to work.

Good morning everyone.

Well I was going to say that things were going smoothly this morning, but then the retriever broke and everyone sat down. You'd think this was a union shop or something, there's still work to be done but when something breaks all work stops. The lead gave us a lecture this morning about not achieving the number and also overtime has been called off. So what we have here is retribution for overtime going away. If the lead would actually walk up here once in a while he could put a stop to this nonsense. I guess his speech was just empty words.

Norm I knew what you were saying, I was attempting humor.

John that's an awful story.

I've been thinking ahead to plan b or c or, or, or and have come back to the idea that I need another backhoe. The biggest reason I need a pickup(right now) is so I can lift some heavy things up with my tractor into the back of something open. Then I thought, how am I going to get them out? If I got a backhoe for the other house, then I could just use the Deuce and a half to move stuff.

Guess I'll take a break. Nothing going on anyway. Hope everyone has a good day.

Got back from Ohio and Kentucky with truck and trailer. Left 9/2. went to Paint Creek state park in Ohio- meet w/5 of my shipmates who were on the USS Horne with me in the late 70's for 2 days. Then on to "Lloydfest" in Mt Sterling Ky for a small old car get together for another 2 days. Had a great time but still having issues with truck- fuel issues. Started a thread about it in Tech editors section.

Mike - Then, the Ridex was indeed humorous.

Greg - Sounds like you enjoyed your trip & you saw my comment regarding fuel filter on suction (incoming) side of fuel pump. And, you know it makes sense you'll see more gunk/crud stirred up in the fuel tank on longer drives since you're likely activating & moving more particles/debris w/ increased road usage from bumps, potholes, etc. in the road(s). Of course, you likely don't know how long that gas tank you installed was stored before you bought it. It's likely it was stored "dry" and as such is likely to have had more particles/debris falling off inside the tank as opposed to if it were full of fuel during storage.

Passed Safety Inspection on the 2003 F-250 diesel tractor, yesterday. Finished reading the NCDMV on-line written examination example test questions. Reviewing a NCDMV video now with an additional 60 questions. New motorcycle lift pump has shipped, should arrive tomorrow.

Mike - I'm having a hard time picturing the task you're actually trying to accomplish on your property? If you have a tractor with a bucket, and it sounds like you do, and you're just looking to move some stuff from one spot to another on the same property, why not just move it from one location to another in the bucket of the tractor? Why do the items being moved have to go into the back of a truck to be moved from one location to another?

Greg - I'm glad you had a good time. If the weather was like it was here I'm sure it was great camping weather. Saw your thread about the fuel issue. I know you'll eventually get it sorted out. Good luck!

Norm - Glad the F250 passed inspection with no issues. Good luck with your driving exam. I'm glad we don't have to take a written exam to renew here in Missouri, unless for some reason you have let your license renewal lapse for a period of time, or had it revoked. I hope you have everything you need to hook up the new lift pump and the lift works like a new one! Good luck!

Chris I probably could have described things better. I've never completely moved out of the house my mother lives in. There are several things in the garage and yard that require me to lift into a [vehicle] at Mom's and take to the house I live in now. My tractor, a John Deere 1025R, is currently at Mom's. I can load stuff with the tractor there, but have no way to unload it at the other end. It would be cumbersome, but doable, to move the tractor back and forth to facilitate the unloading. The obvious solution is to have another backhoe at the other house. I use the tractor at Mom's on occasion and have plenty of use for a tractor at my house.

Mike - Thanks for taking the time to paint the full picture for me. So, the Deuce and a half is street legal, or you're just going to take your chances having it out on the road no more than it`s going to be used that way?

Chris - I'm not 100% if I'm going to be given a written examination. The website simply states you may be required - WTH does that even mean? I won't know until I get there. Planning for the worse hoping for the best. The only catch w/ the new pump will be the hydraulic hose needle valve. Generally speaking I'd think the needle valve in my current hydraulic hose line would be compatible with the new pump. I'll find out manana.

Money Bags (I mean Mike) - Pony up for another tractor at your house - the one "you" live in. You'll need it to unload the new whirlpool you're installing. Don't make this so difficult on yourself.

Driver's Licensing & Plate Registration(s) combined w/ Personal Property Tax valuations is a moving target in this state. All "booze" must still be purchased from an ABC (state owned & controlled) facility.

I here ya, a trip to the DMV here is always an adventure, in person or online. I try to avoid going in person like trying to avoid the plague, and I have to admit they have gotten better since allowing folks to accomplish many tasks online, as long as you have the required documents and follow instructions. Now your State's process for only allowing liquor purchases in State approved stores is just ludicrous!

I think in Vermont the state runs all the liquor stores. No private ones at all.

Chris the Deuce and a half is certainly street legal. I'm sure, though, that anyone stuck behind me wishes it wasn't. It's pretty slow.

The message I get from those bathtub commercials is that you have to be old and crippled to use one. Well I'm not old or crippled and I'd use the hell out of one. But I've never been able to find out how much they cost. I'm guessing 10K.

Jasper, Arkansas (Newton Co.) was a dry county when I lived there (1981 - 1984). Talk about some backwoods rules & shenanigans regarding private clubs & the like.

Mike - Like most things it depends on the model & features. $2K - $5K most common range but for walk-in pay a little more.

My early winter project will most likely be to rebuild the front porch deck. I gave my last portable table saw to guy who just bought a house in need of repairs/upgrades. I’d owned it for ~35 yrs. He was a happy camper to have received it. I’m uncertain at this point the sizes available for true decking boards/planks but I opted to buy a new portable table/rip saw anyways since I found a couple at a decent price. Bought a Delta 10” blade 15 amp 12” width ripper with bevel. Guess it will arrive in a couple weeks.

Most of the boards will likely only require end cuts. I got a sweet deal on a commercial Dewalt compound miter table saw ~10 yrs ago. That’s been a nice work horse.
