Good morning everyone.

Ah Friday. We have about half the people here because of the way the shift was split for the 10 hour shift. That's okay. The retriever is broke anyway. And we have no wheels.

Wow Chris that sky is dramatic. Red sky at night... We've had cloud cover due to the rain but it keeps things cooler.

Hope Norm made it up to Wisconsin okay.

Don I'm acutely aware of the daylight we are losing in the evening. If I were king, we'd change clocks once a month so it's always light at 9pm.

Guess I'll get ready for break. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Mike - Thanks for the comment on the sky pic! It's been dry here now for several days and the temp has inched back up, supposed to be 95° actual temp today. Supposed to be 93° on Sunday for the Show I'm headed to.

I hope Norm had a safe trip too and is having fun up there! Hopefully it's a little cooler too.

Have a nice weekend! 😃

Chris, nice sunset pic. I was trying to figure out why I wasn't getting notifications from this site, turns out they were going to my spam. Not sure why.

Dan - Thanks! That's weird, I haven't had that happen, yet?

Do you have any Car Show plans for this weekend?

I don't even recognize the name of the town, I'll have to Google Map it. The show I'm going to is on Sunday and it's gonna be hot and humid here too, guess we'll fry together! 😉

For shame! Between Muskegon and Grand Rapids, just off of I-96. Home of Del Shannon.

Yep, already found it, but didnt read and didn't know it was the home of Del Shannon, that's pretty cool! I also found the website for the Show, it looks like a pretty big and popular one! The one I'm going to usually draws about 175 to 200 total entrants, in my neck of the woods that's a medium sized show.

Thanks Kenneth! Risking life and limb for a Valiant, I'd do it. Looks like a 65. Stick around, eh?

Good morning everyone.

Wanted to sleep later than 7 this morning, but I just wasn't tired. Well, I slept 4 hours longer than I normally would. Can't beat that.

We sat around yesterday for several hours not working, because we're having an audit next week and the lead didn't want it to look like we were caught up. Doesn't make much sense to me. So I walked around a lot, reached the end of the internet a couple times, napped a little bit.

Chores today, with Awful house in the middle. One thing I need to do is clear out the jungle beneath the upstairs bedroom window. I want to have a new window put in and the overgrowth is ridiculous. I hate looking at it every time I drive up but that is low on the totem pole. Except now it has to be gone so the window people can get in to work. When I moved in everything was so short and manageable. Four years later...

Cloudy but I don't think it's gonna rain. Better get moving. Hope everyone has a good day.

Mike - Maybe management is looking for an excuse to kill your new schedule they just initiated? If it looks like your group is being less productive on the new schedule, that would give them a good reason to go ahead and make everyone return to the old schedule? Just saying . . . I wouldn't put it past them?

Chris I wouldn't put anything past them. Although it seems to be working well for the leads. I, however, wouldn't be sad to go back to the regular schedule. Sure it's one more day a week to drive in, but the way it is now I get home at 4, have zero time to do anything for myself before I have to be to Mom's for dinner. I spend the extra day I have on the weekend trying to catch up from what was lacking during the week. When I worked 4 tens last time I was on midnights, and it was wonderful. Dayshift is a different animal.

Mike - I hear ya, often it is 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Especially in the Winter when it gets dark so early the longer shift leaves you with almost no daylight when you get. When I really liked it wax in the summer when I still had my cabin. We would use almost every 3-day weekend to go down there without having to take time off.

Guys - Yes, having a pleasant trip. Yes it was hot but nothing like the past three weeks in NC. Leaving Oshkosh today heading to U.P. for several days. Very pleasant cool drier air today. Midwest crops all look really flush and healthy.

Dan - Missed all of that as I’m in Oshkosh but they did get flooding (West Allis) Milwaukee and cancelled last day of Wisconsin State Fair.

Looks like I’ll be driving right inside along this frontal boundary between Oshkosh through Green Bay the next couple hours. Oh well.

Hi guys,

Hope everyone had a great day!

I went to the Car Show in Ste. Genevieve today. It was a long, hot day, but I had a great time. Two car buddies of mine met me in my town and we drove the 40-miles down there together on a very scenic 2-lane country road. Here's a link to my Show pictures if you'd like to check them out.

Good morning everyone.

Had plans to work in the yard but alas, it rained in the night and is misting now, so inside stuff today. But it's cooler out if not a little humid.

Dan those are nice pictures. You sure do a good job. I see you got a 60 Edsel in there. Love the Corvairs and the Imperial.

Norm I almost think you're on the bike. That would be some dedication to riding right there. Enjoy the UP. Never been there.

Did the second appointment of PT today. Man I thought I was at the health club! I was actually tired when I left. We did several core exercises and boy they sure like those blow up beach *****. Lots of stuff with them. I think I was there an hour.

Okay lunch! Then something. Hope everyone has a great day.

Mike - PT ain't for sissies is it!

You're getting the rain we had yesterday afternoon. I didn't mention it last night, but I got a text from Dawn about 2:30 yesterday afternoon just as we were about to leave the Car Show. She said it was storming really bad at our house. We thought we'd stay put for a half hour or hour then head that way on the hour drive hour. Only trouble was by the time I got the all clear from Dawn that the rain had stopped up there, there came a deluge and high winds where we were at, and it rained, and rained, and rained hard. We left almost 4-hours after we would have been out of there if the storms hadn't rolled thru and I didn't get home until 7:30. The car is trashed from road grime and spray off other cars, I started in on the cleaning process this morning to try and get it ready for another show Safurday.

So, as I was getting a lawn chair out at the show to save a spot for my buddy, who didn't pre register, the gentleman with the black W31, said hey, can I park up there with another Olds? (behind the cars, is the park, and it is a 6' drop down to it, which doesn't show up in the pics), I said sure, just glancing at his car, which i thought was a Cutlass with "W" stripes added. He brought it up, and I noticed the W31 badges, and thought that I recognized it from Homecoming. He has taken it to Homecoming, and I always thought that it was clone, due to the added power brake booster. I was wrong. He is 75 years old, and bought when he was 19 while attending Western Michigan University. He was dating a girl while there, and they saw a Rallye 350. He went to the dealership, and came out with a W31! He put in a milder cam during the cars restoration, so he could run power brakes. The car is fully documented, with all of the dealer paperwork. A very nice guy, and we talked and sat together for most of the show. He was a vocational instructor during his career, teaching machining etc. His daughter came there with his grandchild, and she will not allow him to sell the car!

Keith - Great to hear from you, thanks for posting that! I love seeing demonstrations of old machinery. They often put on similar displays at Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. My parents took us over there several times during my childhood.

Steam engines are pretty neat. A really long time ago, like 1967-68, we were visiting family in Oostburg. and we went to a festival which I believe was in Cedarsburg. There was a large steam powered tractor lumbering across the grass, and I thought that it was so cool.

Good evening guys,

I spent about 3-hours in the garage this morning cleaning on my car after driving home on wet roads after the Car Show yesterday. I'm going to need to pick up my pace if I'm going to get it completely show worthy by Saturday. What's slowing me down is it's getting so hot, so early that it's hard to work more than a couple hours in there without getting completely soaked. There's a heat index right now at 5:30 of 99°.

Contactor came today and completed the last major part of my home repairs, the gutters and downspouts around the whole home. They did a nice job! All that is left is replacement of 2 sets of fake vinyl shutters on the windows on the front of the house, and a couple pieces of metal flashing that were missed when they were doing the fascia/soffit work. Almost there!

Dawn took the dogs to their Vet appointments this afternoon. It was just a wellness check and vaccines for both, and theyre both doing fine.

Hope everyone has had a great day and has a relaxing evening!

Good morning everyone.

Decent start to the day. I still have to get used to the idea that my first day is Tuesday. Except by the time Friday comes it seems like the week had 18 days.

Chris didn't you go to see the Big Boy on its tour across the country a couple years ago? Oh how I'd love to hear that guy running and in motion.

Changed oil in the Chevy yesterday. First time it's been done since I've owned it. Not bragging by any means. Someone at some point converted it to a spin on filter. That car is finally coming along.

Went to my physical therapy yesterday. It was more like the health club. I was beat when I got out of there, and I sure feel it this morning. The treatment seems worse than the injury, but I realize if things were left untreated it would eventually be far worse.

Okay break. Hope everyone has a good day.

Whew, hot and HUMID!! Been working on old mowers- this gig has not turned out the way I'd hoped. People seem to have a mower break and instead of getting rid of it when they replace, they just push out in back yard. Then 10 years or so finally decide to get rid of and Greg buys it. By then belts are shot- tires been flat and weather checked so long they won't hold air( tubes not cheap anymore) etc. So 1st thing is to see what cased it to quit- order parts on Amazon, get it to run, then address bad tires, batteries, bearings, belts, etc. I sell as is but I want them to be a decent mower, the buyer can get a year or 2 out of... And DIRTY! I thought old cars were greasy! These are greasy and filled up with old and sometimes decayed grass clippings, etc. Eh, my own choosing.... Have a good one guys!

Mike - Yes, Dawn and I saw the Big Boy at it's stop in DeSoto a couple summers ago. We got down there early and got an excellent viewing spot right in front of where it was going to stop. That is actually my picture of it as it was slowiy chugging up to the stop. It was an awesome sight!
