Chris - That's cool about the Grand Trunk Railroad tickets from your neighborhood friend. I never new much of anything about the original Grand Trunk Railroad although I really enjoyed the band Grand Funk Railroad, who had to change their name from Grand Trunk Railroad to Grand Funk Railroad after a cease & desist order from Grand Trunk Railroad. Breakfast of Champions looks good.
Norm - Ya, I was a big fan of Grand Funk Railroad too.
I wasn't even sure if Grand Trunk Railroad still existed so I looked it up. I guess the original company was officially Grand Trunk Western, but we always just called it Grand Trunk. It is now operated by Canadian Railway with lines still operating between Ottawa and Chicago. Some of their largest switching yards are still located in Battle Creek, remnants of Battle Creek's glory days of manufacturing and food production.
Ah Warshawsky's. We used to drive downtown and go there. We didn't care that it was all Taiwanese, we probably didn't know. Not a terrific part of town, so they had a big parking lot across the street with about 10ft chainlink all around it and security. One time my friend drove down there himself and parked out front. When he came out he saw that someone had tried to steal his radio. Too bad for them it was a Volkswagen bug. The radio goes in from the front, and after they pulled the ***** off there was no way to get the radio through the dash. He found the car with the door open and the ***** on the floor.
Ran a couple errands and hit the Awful house for lunch. The chef recommended the pork chops. Boy were they yummy. Made sure I left before my friends got there. That sounds mean, but I don't have time to sit listening to the same old drivel. I can't tell you how many times I've heard that Ward's first car on Leave It To Beaver was a 57 Ford, but then he changed to a 59 Plymouth.
Mike - State & Archer was a questionable area in the late 1960s. Not soooo....bad, but it could be bad. I'm sure by the time you were heading to that area it became pretty bad. I've mentioned this previously and I don't believe you either answered my question (if I asked) or commented on my statement regarding the Netflix series Shameless. If you haven't seen it & you have the opportunity I strongly recommend watching it. I think you'd absolutely love the living $hit out of it. A truly great/funny series all filmed in Chicago.
Keegan's team lost their 1st game 3-2. They definitely had their chances. Unfortunately, one of Keegan's defensemen scored the winning goal for the other team when he deflected a puck in front of the net into his own goal that Keegan had a bead on and would have definitely stopped. Horrible break!
They lost their 2nd game 2-0. Tough row to hoe now to make it into the Semi's. Came home between games. Dawn's going with me this evening for the 5:45 game. We're going to have to head out to the rink in about 20-minutes.

Good luck. It's going to be a tough 3rd game for them.

Thanks Norm! Despite their first 2 losses the boys did not come out and lay down, instead they bounced back with a 4-1 win. Keegan was outstanding, stopping 25 of 26 shots on goal (Mom's the official counter). They still have to win their games tomorrow morning at 1045 and 1115 to get into the Semi's. I got a few good action shots. Kick Save, off to the right side of picture. Pad Save, you can see the puck bouncing off to his right side. Glove Save.
Go team! That was a good save. Lots of action. Do seven year olds get into a lot of fights? "I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out."
Norm I don't remember you mentioning Shameless. In any event I never saw it. I don't have Netflix. Some time when I'm at my sister's I'll have a look.
Last time I went to Warshawski's was in the 80s. I believe they are closed now. There used to be a big JCWhitney warehouse on I-80 somewhere around LaSalle-Peru. Haven't been out that way in decades either.
Today was not the whiz-bang I had hoped it would be. I did get some laundry done, and got the bathroom faucet changed. I went to get tires for the Valiant. I had looked them up online and they were going to be shy of 400. Got to the place and they wanted 600. What the website neglects to tell you is they charge 25 bucks each to put them on. Then there's the valve stems, balancing(that might be part of the 25) and the state-required disposal fee. It would have been well over 600 if I wanted the road hazard. I passed. Came close to calling the guy a crook. But I realized he is just a flunky and doesn't have any part in the website or pricing. So now I still need tires and I'm guessing that is standard fare for all the tire places.
Gonna hit the sack. Not sure exactly what I'll do tomorrow. Gonna be sunny and cold. Have a good evening everyone.
Not if they want to stay in the game, fighting is an automatic ejection, plus they have to sit out their entire next game too. They don't even allow checking in Jr. Hockey until they get to the the 13/14-yr old age group. Gabe will enter that age group next season. He's gonna need to put some meat on that skinny frame of his so he doesn't get tossed around like a rag doll.
Here we have had + 5 /10 C for some time now and if feels like spring . Was at a indoor swapmeet
in a parking garage nov 8 and a lot of nice cars to se outside. Very nice to se people drive their cars.
The 425 block from the Dynamic are at the machineshop now , hope they can rebore it 0,030".

Glenn - Nice to hear from you. Sounds like you're having a very mild Winter so far, that's great. I hope you can save the 425, good luck!
Chris those pictures make me twitch. It's still under 40 here but bright sunshine and NO SNOW. Gonna be 50 here today.
Glenn what does a 425 become at 30 over?
I've been looking at "real" chipper shredders to replace my small Harbor Freight special. Lowes didn't have anything in the store and the woman told me I should go down the street to Northern Tool and get one there. The cheepest one Northern has is 700. That's a little high. I have a medium sized chipper that I haven't been able to use. The big shroud where you stuff all the leaves and small stuff in is plastic and broke off the side of the machine. A couple years ago I wanted to use it to chip and the gas ran out of the tank as fast as I poured it in. I suspect the supply line to the carb has failed. Cheep rubber and ethanol fuel don't go together. All the expensive machines do exactly the same thing my buggered up one does, so I think I will take a little time and see if I can get mine going. As for the chute, I could probably rig something up to make it a little more dangerous.
Slept late this morning, almost 9. I must have been unusually comfortable. Tiger on the other hand, wanted his breakfast so enough was enough. I've had mine too so time to get moving.

Have a good Saturday everyone.
Good question Mike , have no idea. If the cyl 5 is not better with 0,030" they try 0,060". The block have the original bore
but there ara some damage in cyl 5 bore. Pics in another thread in the big block section.I can read GMM400 7378
behind connecting rod bearings but don´t know if this are the original bearings or not. So i probaly need to take the
crankshaft to the mashineshop and measure it.
Keegan's team won their 1st game this morning 2-0 behind Keegan's shut-out. Unfortunately they lost their 2nd game 2-1, so they didn't didn't make it into the Semi-finals. Keegan played exceptionally well in both games without much Offensive support. Probably just as well they didn't have another game because Keegan is his team's only goalie and he had to play the whole game in goal for 5 games over 2 days. He was definitely wore out!
I'm off to Gabe's game at about 2:20 my time for a 3:20 game. The game is only about 30-miles away, but with the weather I want to give myself plenty of time. The roads were much better coming home from Keegan's game but still slushy between lanes on the interstate. It's 3 or 4 degrees above freezing now and just raining so I'm hoping the roads are just wet now. After this game I'm gonna be hockeyed out, despite how much I love watching them play. I'm hoping to see a big offensive game out of Gabe this afternoon.

Based solely upon the numbers (if all eight cylinders were 0.030"over) I guess a 425 would become a 431?
The original stock 425 engine had a 4.126-inch bore and 3.975-inch stroke, resulting in 425.2 cubic inches (6,967 cc). Boring the engine 0.030 inches over increases the bore size to 4.156 inches (4.126 + 0.030) and subsequently increases the total engine displacement to ~7070 cc or 431.39 ci (using a conversion factor of 1 CI ≈ 16.387 cc). But! Much has yet to be determined on exactly what's going to change with the engine.
Gabe's team was at a distinct disadvantage this afternoon, having 4 players out. They only had 8 skaters and their 2 goalies. As a result Gabe got more than his usual share of ice time and made the most of it having his most dominant game of this season. He had 4 goals and an assist in a 6-4 win. His coach awarded him Game MVP (pic). Sure glad I didn't miss that one! 😃
Lighting all the way across the roof ridge? Wow. Hope they knew what they were doing when fastening those lights.
Yes, I was wondering the same thing when they first had their lights set up? It wasn't done by the homeowners, but by one of those companies that installs holiday lighting/decorations.

Thanks for info Norm , should be intresting the hear from the machineshop but they have much work to do so it can
take a little time. But they said that it would be best to have the block in shop.
Well , today it was a really sh@t weather with rain , was outside and adjusted the Deutz clutch and then in woods
and lookad at some trees to cut down. So it was nice to get inside the house again
Well, I didn't accomplish much this long weekend, went to my brothers for turkey day. Watched football. The Lions are reverting to form. They had better hire some new defensive and offensive coordinators during the off season, or they will once again become mediocre. Stopped at my buddies place yesterday, to shoot the breeze, and gather the goodies that I ordered from his granddaughter. Had a piece if pumpkin pie and coffee. Cleared 10" of snow out of the driveway a couple of hours ago. Picked up a wreath that I ordered yesterday, and put lights, a bow and fake gold and silver holly leaves on it before hanging it on the front of the garage. Currently chilling in the recliner with the cat, watching the 49ers and Browns game.
I must be using dial up, the internet is slow as can be today. Norm you once mentioned that all cellular signals are pointed away from an airport. If that's the case then Verizon must think all of Stockbridge is an airport because their signal sucks everywhere.
Walmart was a disaster before I even got out of the neighborhood. Some dumb broad in a big Jeep tried side swiping me coming out of the neighborhood. Then a long line of people thinking they were beating all the traffic on the expressway(they weren't). Then every frickin' person in the store had to camp out right in front of what I needed. Oh and I got to walk to the car in the rain because some kid in her grandma's Nissan parked up front in the handicapped space. I'm really beginning to despise going there.
Did I mention rain? It isn't raining now but it's cold and wet out. This afternoon I'm going to relax a little and just putter around the house and hang out with Tiger. I'm supposed to go up and get a DUKW part from a guy but I haven't heard from him. So I guess I'm not going. I don't need it, but he's giving it away and I have two of those guys, so why not have some extra parts. Maybe I can put it up in the living room.
Chris you should copy that picture of "Mr. MVP" and put it on the front of his birthday card. Win or lose those boys should be proud of the work they are doing. Great sportsmen. I hope the rest of the team are the same.
Time to take a break. Hope everyone is having a good afternoon.
I had good intentions. Drove to the club, ate an awesome blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich, grabbed some clubs and was walking to the driving range & ran into another member w/ his wife & they asked me to join them - so I did. Began to lightly sprinkle after four holes, didn't look like it would last longer than five minutes but they wanted to quit, so I quit. Then, I went to the grocery store, now I'm home. That's my story. I bought a chocolate fudge cake to drown my sorrows...

I never knew companies existed who specialize in the installation of holiday lighting/decorations. Yowser.
Not sure what the IB developers actually "do" on this site - other than test stuff, I guess. Y'all have likely (hopefully) noticed several weeks ago the Log In box was changed - they inserted the text "(not email)".
I'm looking at who is currently logged in to the site and there are four members whose member names are each an e-mail address. What a fiasco. So, they allow a user to create a member name with an e-mail address, but then insert this new text "(not email)" into the Log In credentials box. Really thinking on all eight cylinders on this one - eh? And, there remains significant latency in various areas of the site. We get what we pay for.
Yeah, I know... older I get less I like. Used to be the clean whiteness and crispness of air seemed to actually get me pumped up- sure it is beautiful, but huge amount of hassle to do anything.
Example: yesterday I told Frank I would do his snow removal at his place. Go over to barn and swipe snow away from trailer with truck/plow.. Back up truck to trailer (no camera on this old beast), attempt to hook up trailer but it wont move cuz its in 10" of snow, so hook safety chains to truck and drag trailer up, then can get hitch on ball. Take trailer/ truck back over to house, drop tailgate/ ramp on trailer (it also has 10"of snow on it), start snowblower and fight to get it up on trailer. Fall down on freshly blown driveway.( it looks like packed snow about 1/2" that was left by blower with a degree of traction, but it has gotten warmer and it is snotty and very slippery without the appearance of ice). Drive truck/trailer/ blower over to Frank's place and blow now heavy/wet snow.
Finish up and come home with truck, etc and leave it driveway- tuckered out... Today I will have to separate everything, I may leave trailer inside barn so next time I won't have to fight all that white ****.. Well at least it didn't snow today again.. Man, I am sore from the shoveling and blowing.
Greg - Good on you for helping Frank. I'm w/ you on the soreness aspect. Gets a little worse w/ each passing year; yet, I still believe it's preferable to live by the adage "Use it or Lose it".
To call this morning dank would be an understatement. Though I am glad it isn't 10" of snow. I really feel for you guys.
I'm at my wits' end trying to find a pickup. Of course anything I do has to be overthought and complicated. If I look for a late model it has to be 3/4 ton because I'm not messing with emission tests. I also have to be able to trade the SRX on it. I've found exactly one truck and it has over 200K on it. I'm not doing that. I have to be able to get rid of it when the black truck is fixed. If I'm looking for an older truck it can't be more than 5K or so. Which finds me crap. The closest I've come there is a 67 Jeep J30, which is two hours away from me and still higher than I want to spend. I'd probably buy it but I can't get anyone to go with to see it and of course no trailer... I've never had so much trouble finding a car.
Norm there is somebody out there who specializes in doing -anything- you want done.
Greg good on you for shoveling out Frank. Do you still volunteer for the Red Cross? I'd bet you get a lot of snow shoveling requests there.
Well it's after 10 and I'm still in my jammies. No motivation to get going. I feel like there's a giant thumb pressing down on my head. Eh, if the sun ever comes out again I'll feel better. I'll still have the same problems but I'll feel better.
Okay have a good day everyone. Day 5 of being off, kind of feel like I'm retired. Ah, but tomorrow.

Mike - Your trip to Walmart sounds like a nightmare. I don't like going there either unless I really have to. I'm thankful we've had a Walmart membership for quite awhile now that allows us free delivery if the order is over $35, of course you need (should) to tip the driver, but it saves on your gas and the hassle. There are some restrictions on what they'll deliver like very heavy items, but overall we love it. Something you might consider?
The boys on both Keegan's and Gabe's team's seem like good kids, and they all seem like they're having a good time win or lose, and that's the important thing. I have always believed kids involvement in sports teaches them alot of valuable life lessons.
