The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Good morning everyone.
Ah, work. Inept management who changes things at least once a week, but still wants top performance. Our foreman is the poster child for setting up for failure. Well, he'll only be able to push his mistakes off on us for so long.
Chris I must have missed that your sister is home, I hope she continues to get better and that you are able to have a hand in that.
John that's hilarious. I hate those tire pressure monitors. The dogmobile had those and the light came on, and would blink once in a while, and I tried to take the bulb out but I buggered up a couple screws in the dash and couldn't get the display out. So I just had to live with it. When I got new tires I told the guy he could just omit them from the new assembly. He said oh no I can't it's a safety thing. I said so what they are broke anyway. Oh they are broke? Okay. So he left them off. Hm. When I bought the dogmobile the light was on. I said, when I come back to pick this up I don't care what you do I don't want to see that light. He said he just put air in the tires. I didn't believe him but the light was out for probably a year.
I think after work I get to assemble the Christmas tree at Mom's. Every year I hear the same thing. I want to see the tree one more time. She has boxes and boxes of things she puts on the tree and sets up around the room.
We're having breakfast this morning. The lead was telling us how it was going to work. It didn't make any sense. Big surprise it was all set up by the inept foreman. I'll probably sit it out. Participating in shop food is an approval on how things are going.
Okay got some wheels. Hope everyone has a good day.

I think the TPMS sensors have gotten more reliable- hopefully.. I haven't had any problems with them in the 2019 we have, but had loads of problems in our 2010 we had. To set the sensors in the 2010 just had to let air out, in '19 that won't work, so I bought a cheepy deal that will reset them when I rotate tires. My friend has a 2017 that one of them quit- light came on- bought new tires and when they were reset at tire shop have worked fine for 6 months or so.
Dan - Nearly time for me to think about ordering a new set of frying pans. Current set has lasted ~20 years. I won't be ordering them from Amazon. I quit Prime ~5 months ago & I've had terrible shipping from Amazon. I don't believe there is a company who can be any worse than Amazon shipping. I've pretty much elected to support only local stores anymore. **** on Amazon.
Jim - The Cannas will look very nice. I never realized the amount of fruit you're eating daily. Wow!
John - Hard to believe but I did follow your TPMS tire/wheel scenario. I've never personally owned a vehicle w/ TPMS sensors.
Mike - What exactly is the difference in roles between your lead & your foreman?

Norm they're both wacked. The foreman, who is actually called the duty manager, or the Product Line Manager(PLM), is in charge of the whole shop. The lead is responsible for just our area, and reports to the foreman. We had a good foreman who had been in the shop for decades, and then he retired. This clown we have now was placed here, because the higher up's didn't have anywhere else to put him.
The dogmobile had some complex system of resetting the tire sensors. Had to push buttons on the key fob. Had to turn the ignition on and off. And you had to do this every time you rotated tires or the light would go on because some computer couldn't read them right. If you're going to the hassle to design a system that's difficult, why not design a system that is easy. Same for Bluetooth. The SRX takes an act of congress to link up the phone to the car, the Charger I never did anything, the phone was in the car and it started working. Sheesh.
Breakfast was okay. The foreman and the leads were dishing up the food. They must have thought we are all petit prom queens. Eh, I brought my own food. This was put on by the shop, I hope the next meals are brought in by vendors.

Hi guys,
Got something positive accomplished today (hopefully). Our daily driver Hyundai Santa Fe is badly in need of new tires, still sporting it's original 2017 Continental P235/65R/17's with 66K-miles on them. The front's still have some decent tread, but the rear's are very thin, and then there's the age issue. Got what I believe is a good deal for tires that large on some Goodyear Reliant All Season Radials (65K mileage warranty) on a Cyber Monday Deal that was still going on.

Well, I got one order delivered today, a three piece, 5 ply stainless frying pan set. 8",10" & 12". Quite hefty, but lighter than cast iron. My other order from Columbia, has been delayed four times. First it was Saturday, then Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and supposedly tomorrow. We'll see.
Seriously though, I hope they get there soon.So much for wishful thinking, FUCH!!! Got a notice from Wal-Fart letting me know they only had 3 of the 4 tires I ordered and they were canceling my order for the 1 tire they couldn't deliver. That is just stupid as Hell! I had to get into my account and cancel the other 3. Back to square one!

Mike - She came home to her house the day before Thanksgiving. Since she's been home I've been talking to her at least once a day and there's been multiple times when I've been able to tell she's not fully in touch with reality and is hearing things that I know are not true. I don't know what will happen today, but I'd say she still needs daily help in a clinical setting. Not good.

Tire Purchase Round 2 - Got online and looked at tires on the "Discount Tire" outlet in Festus only 8-miles away. Found a South Korean made Tire in my size described like this, "Mohave tires are manufactured in South Korea and are sold exclusively through Discount Tire. They are designed as an affordable, durable option for passenger, light truck, and SUV use." They get very good reviews for the price. Over $100 cheaper than the Goodyears I was trying to order from Walmart. I'm having them installed early Saturday morning. I'll post a review after I've had them awhile. I'm hoping they're decent.
My biggest problem with Discount tire is they list their tires for ridiculously low prices and then tack on a bunch of fees and extra charges. I don't remember them always doing that. Actually I think they think we are all dummies and will ante up an extra buck fifty just because they want us to.
Chris I'm so sorry your sister is going through all this. It has to be frustrating being so far away and wanting to help. I see by the clock on the wall you must be in the middle of your conference call now. Good luck.
Lately I've heard poor things about FedEx. Well, I ordered a tractor manual from [I don't remember who offhand] and it's coming FedEx from Minnesota. So far it is passing through Memphis, and should be delivered to my house tomorrow afternoon. And if the stars are all aligned the driver won't drive through my yard and leave big ruts on the corner.

Thanks Mike, I appreciate your support! Well, the time for my Sister's scheduled Psych appointment has come and gone. I never got a conference call, and don't even know if she even made it there? She's also supposed to have an appointment with her Medical doctor later this afternoon. If it turns out she didn't make it to one or both, I think it's going to be time for some tough love on my part. I told her it was absolutely imperative that she get to these appointments and I told her I would assist with scheduling transportation if she did not have someone she could trust to get her there, but she insured me she had it covered. If she didn't make it to her appointments, I'm not going to continue to bang my head against a wall for someone that doesn't want to help themself.
I was impressed with UPS delivering my Amazoned Michelins. I followed a truck tracker all day. Truck went back to base a 6, then the tracker shut off. I tried to get through to UPS on the phone. It will not let you do so.
I researched, and found, that, if you mess up the tracking number enough, it will put you through to someone. So I did, and got a call back 15 min later. Guy's name was Joe, and said they were out there again, and would be with me in 2 stops. 15 min later, they were there, I grabbed them from the guys off the truck, and they were on my property a total of 3 min. 2 dudes hauling ***.

Chris doesn't your sister have a significant other who can help? Have you talked to her doctor or will he not talk to you? I'd say you are immediate family he should want to talk to you.
Norm I read about the supermoon but it's cloudy here so I probably won't see it. I love when it's clear in the mornings because it lights up my front yard and I can see not to step in the ant hills.
My manual is still showing in Memphis. They still say it will get here tomorrow afternoon.

My UPS app illustrates truck location day of delivery - sorta cool to follow. I believe the UPS app is a better app than FedEx. I have the USPS app, as well. USPS app is far more convoluted. Amazon delivery & shipping sucks donkey dong.
She did not make it to either of her appointments today telling me that when it got time to go that neither of their vehicles would start (her partner was going to take her). It was extremely cold up there today and both cars had sat for several days. However, knowing that it was supposed to be very cold today, why didn't her partner try to start both cars yesterday, or earlier this morning before time to go when there would be time to call a service to help get one started??? The whole situation stinks to high heaven and I am rapidly getting tired of it. Of course this afternoon when I set aside my plans in anticipation of a call, she didn't bother to call me and let me know they weren't going to make it!
Well, I'm installing Apple iOS 26.1 on my iPhone. It's humongous. Takes a minimum of 30' just to verify the d/l. It contains ~50 important security updates, and some interesting feature updates. The update requires ~20GB free space to update. It's huge. Biggest update I've seen in years.
Serious question
I had planned to sow som winter rye in the front yard this year and at the same time raise the level 2 inches. So Yesterday I had aa dump truck of soil dumped. Naturally last night it rained and is supposed to continue all day today. The soil needs to be dry to use Should I 1] Cover it now and limit the amount of rain it gets, 2[ leave it un covered 3[ haul it off and start over

To get the biggest bang for your buck you'd like to see every single seed be in contact w/ wet soil. You might consider rolling the soil after you've broadcast the seeds & applied a thin layer of straw, soil or compost. Key is wet seeds in contact w/ wet soil. The more uniform the better.
--Chris, the old saying " you can lead a horse..." , If your sis doesn't want it she won't do it. You are a great brother- you care and are attempting to help, but only she can do it.
-- Did you get those tires? Our 2019 GMC Acadia was bought used with 26 K on it. It already needed tires in my opinion. Salesman said I would get new tires for the quoted price. Management said no. It was 2021 in the Covid situation and cars were hard to get. Anyway, I bought it and when car had 40K, tires were really shot.
--I wanted a high mileage tire and ended up getting them shipped to me by Walmat.com. They were the cheapest. Came in a few days. Then I took up to neighborhood tire shop and it cost another $100 for mounting/balance/tire disposal. Then I found no free rotation or repairs to tires if needed, etc. I wish I would have researched the tires as I did but then see how much to buy those thru Discount or Belle tire or even the local shop. At least then usually you get free rotation. etc. And if there is a problem- say vibration- you won't have the seller and the installer each saying it's the other's fault.
-- I wish I could remember the name of the tires I got- They now have 60K on them (100K on car), I have rotated them and they have never required rebalance or repair. They still have about 1/2 tread and I am going to run another winter- maybe replace next fall. I think your plan to buy/install at Discount or other big tire store is the way to go.

You've already paid for the soil - it's currently unusable. I'd cover that wet pile, order another load & quickly spread the new load & seed it. I'm thinking you'll find a place or places to use the current wet soil. These are the 'typical' dump truck loads ~12 cubic yards or the smaller dump trucks ~6 yards. Either way, I'd order a new load & spread the new load ASAP; looks like you have ~7days - 10 days before the next rain moves in.

I'm buying the tires from "Discount Tire", a big tire chain. Supposed to have them put on tomorrow morning at 0800. They're a cheaper South Korean made tire (Mohave), but get good reviews. We'll see???
Hi everyone.
Work has been smooth all morning, and surprise surprise my young friend wanted to go to Awful house for lunch. I was happy to oblige.
Chris has this been a problem for your sister her whole life? In normal situations would she purposely disregard someone trying to help her or things she knew she needed to be done? She might not have the capacity at this time to make decisions or carry them through. Maybe take a step back and monitor instead of giving up? I can't imagine.
Jamesbo wouldn't the dirt be okay once it dried out? If you want to get new dirt and discard the old dirt, send it down my way.
Norm this is what I think of when I hear Rosemary.
Or Rosemary's baby.
Okay back to work. Have a great day everyone it's Friday!

FYI, I always liked the "Love Grows" song even though Edison Lighthouse was a one hit wonder.
Norm - That looks like a delicious lunch! I'm curious about your drink which I've seen before. Is that straight tomato juice, or a tomato/vegetable blend like V8? I like them both, but rarely have them, I don't really know why?
