The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Not to get away from fine food and young women (Ozark), but I was going through my copy of the 1970 Salesmen's Prices, Equipment, Colors & Trims, Specifications booklet, trying to see if a Cutlass S could be had with the L33 (455 2bbl) and the M14 three speed manual trans. (nope, M40 only). So, while I was persuing that endevor, I went to the Supreme section and looked at the std. options list. The buckets were indeed standard as we discussed, but the console was not, it was an option. I have to wonder if that changed in '71, as Kenneth's build sheet shows them as standard equipment. Jumping back to another thread, I forgot to mention that I saw The Alan Parsons Project about 20 years ago here, during our Summer Celebration concerts that we used to have every summer.
Otto, I have a floor jack and an 14" SS ll in the back the date code is is 38 01 me thinks I'm already on borrowed time. I drove 75 miles down from the mountains a few weeks ago with both fingers crossed
Aloha
Beautiful out. A bit cool but not too bad. I'm going to do some work in the yard in a little bit. Tiger will help.
Dull day at work. Another day of doing 80 wheels. That's 20 for me, got them done a little after noon. Probably be like that the rest of the week.
Been thinking lately about an Austin Healey 3000. That's all I can do is think, I sure can't afford one. Jamesbo I know you had one, would it be a comfortable car for a bigger guy like me? Or would I be cramped in it. I had a TR6 for a rather short amount of time. If I didn't hang my left arm out the window I didn't fit. Maybe I can get a replica with a small block.
Well we're past the hump. I keep thinking it's later in the month. Glad I got all this extra time now. Now to do meaningful things with it.
Peace

They are [were] nice but not worth the money anymore. Saw 4 legs off a chair, put it on the floor and practice ingress/egress. Then go next door and buy my vehicle and forget about a Squeely Healey
Last one I saw at a British car show was BRG just like mine and the guy wanted 70 K of it
It's a truck engine in a sports car with the distributer on the bottom of the engine. They drown out in 1/2 of water. When you turn the key to start and you don't hear the fuel pump clicking in the trunk, Ya have ta get out open the trunk whack the fuel pump with your shoe and try again

Jamesbo did you get your tires yet? I was reading about The Greenbrier in West by Gawd Virginia, and I've always heard the Greenbrier van was named after the place, so I thought if I looked up the Greenbrier van it would say that. Nope. At the end of the article it said that Chevy used the Greenbrier name on a Chevelle wagon for a couple years. I got to thinking, that would have been a great name for a Vista Chevy wagon, but alas, they did not get one, and a Chevelle Greenbrier wagon is actually a lower class vehicle. The GB Corvair was the high dollar wagon.
Mke,
Nope the tires haven't arrived yet. I sure am glad I didn't race over there this morning at 8; 00 like the guy told me to
'
I'm sure Norm knows all about the Greenbriar. it's a fancy place
FWIW, there used to be for years and years a Zero parked right down town in Atlanta. It was in the fenced in back yard of an old antique house across the street from the doctors building. right next door to the original [1st] Peasant restaurant [ Peachtree and Linden Ave] . I guess either someone bought it or it rotted away
Norm, I believe the expression is " Hauling A$$"

I was the Zone Chairperson for Marshals on Holes 15, 16 & 17 for ~5 years @ The Greenbrier. I've played The Old White (TPC), Sam Snead, The Greenbrier & one other course I can't recall (I think it's called The Meadows). I walked into their casino one evening stating to myself I could afford to lose $250 tonight. I walked away w/ $2600 after fifteen minutes playing Roulette. I played #32 about eight times, after the last pay-out to me I walked out the door. I haven't returned.
Jim Justice (6'7", 600 lbs) owner of The Greenbrier (inherited all his family's coal mines in WV). A staunch die-hard red GPO hard-liner. He jumped from Red Coats to Blue Coats in 2015 to announce his candidacy for Governor - running against a Red Coat who he knew had no chance of winning. They elected him Governor. That's how it works.
Norm, I think taht Jeff Lynn would be a good addition to any concert goer's resume'. Ya know what sucks? knowing that there is a pic/video on this page of a hot gal, but it's not oepning up for me. I get a fuzzy outline of the pic, but just the spinning icon of futility staring at me.
The Zero. I have no way of proving this story. We use Komatsu presses in our stamping shops. We bought a few presses new, but, machinery that huge, and that old, gets reused. When the Indiana plant got started in 98, they dug an old huge transfer press out of a boneyard that had been at a Mitsubishi plant. I was told the old Japanese guys that refurbed it and brought it here said it stamped something on the Zero back in the day.
I reckon. The Government discontinued bunker lease @ The Greenbrier in 1995 & it became available for public tours. It has some ridiculously sized 50,000 lb entrance door which requires something like only 150 lbs to open or something like that. I know where it is but I've never had the tour - under the West Wing of The Greenbrier monster hotel. I've stayed in the monster hotel a number of times. They have some really awesome restaurants on the property. I would not hesitate to recommend The Greenbrier to anyone. I mean it's like a mini city with tons of amenities. If anyone wants to consider taking their family, wife, gf or whatever, I'd highly recommend it (your wallet will weigh significantly less when you leave).
James - It would (seriously) be a great place to take the Super Model for a couple days since I understand she's been a waitress I believe you've said in some very very nice restaurant establishments. Several of the restaurants contained on the property are truly "phenomenal". Enormous dining rooms, 30' high ceilings, sitting rooms, fantastic kitchens with tons of beautiful appointments/accoutrements. The place was built in 1858 and it suffers from elegant "grandeur". I consider it one of the most elegant pieces of property I've seen - right up there with The Biltmore, IMO.

That's a good story Koda. Those presses are pretty old then. How cool is that. So every Toyota is part Mitsubishi Zero. Don't tell the Emperor.
So after The Washington Post spilled the beans about the bunker and it got decommissioned, do you suppose another secret bunker was built somewhere else? I thought there was safe harbor under the Capitol building? How do you suppose the WP found out about it?
As soon as it gets dark enough I'm going to hit the sack. I'm not wishing for early darkness. I think we should change the clocks once a month so it's always light at 9pm. But, a little extra shuteye won't be a bad thing.
Peace

Mike, well, every 09 to present gas Highlander, every 13 to present hybrid Highlander, every Sequoia, all Tundras from 98-05 and about half from 05 to 09, and all Siennas 04 to present. Soon to be two other vehicles.
Norm, I think I can find that out. It's been so long since I worked in stamping, fourteen years I think, that I have forgotten most everything.

John - I have no interest in details honestly. I was just curious of the size trying to put into perspective how large a stamper would be to stamp most likely sheet metal for a Zero. Cool story though.
I read somewhere years ago that all the Zeros were destroyed at the end of the war. Maybe a few were spared. The ones used in Toro Toro Toro were made for the movie. I think they were modified T6's.
Ok then. They're big, but on the small end of force. I think they are 400 ton. I referenced my one and only class period that I taught in college; I gave a presentation to my thesis advisor's class on sheet metal. I guess I was a TA for one semester in undergrad, but, that one time, I was guest lecturer.
Norm, the super model doesn't waitress she's iin management. She books parties and makes people feel special in alot of was. Oddly enough her favorite places for a repast are meat and 3
Speaking of bunkers. My Cabinet maker in the mountains grew up and has lived his entire life In Hollywood GA, He had never heard of the Federal Reserve Bunker in Hollywood Ga Where they used to store micro fish records of banks transactions

James - Were the micro fish a genetically unique species created & raised by the FDIC?
On a more serious note, I've never heard of such a bunker. I'm trying to look it up on the Internet & can't find a thing.

I'm thinking you're right about that. I was thinking our Superbowl Golf Tournament wasn't going to happen this Sunday as they were predicting 85% rain. This morning that prediction has been eliminated. Not going to be really warm, but appears no rain.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy skies. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 52F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph.
