Soooooooooooooooooo, The super model follows me over to drop off the Vista Cruiser to get a new set of shoes. On the drive home the kid at the tire calls and says, "You want the tires on the car right?" Me, "Yes" Kid, I thought you might want them balanced and put in the trunk"

Give that one some thought

When I got new shoes for my Starfire, the dipsh*ts at the Walmart Service Center looked at the car and said, "I'm not sure we can get the tires on under those back fenders." I laughed and said, "That's ok, I'll take it somewhere else."

Told my Dad that story, and he said, "Do they think the car was built AROUND the tires? Please tell me you left and didn't let them touch the car."

When I took some machining classes @ the Skilled Traing Center 30+ years ago, the lathes all had metal tags on them stating that they were the property of the U.S. government, and were for wartime use only. They were of course sold after the war, and ended up there. They were probably locally sourced as we had Continental Motors building tanks for the war, along with the CWC foundry, Lakey's foundry, Sealed Power, and Muskegon Piston Ring. Not much, if any of them left here anymore.

I try to always take loose wheels to the shop and have them mount them. I have one set of wheels for everything, and 2 sets for my pickup (which does the hauling, including its other set). I do the wheel switching at home. Fortunately I picked up two shop wheels I had on loan so now it is easier.

Just throw some cash at them, don’t ask questions.

I washed my roadside mailbox & post - several years growth of the green stuff.

Saw one shingle flipped over on house roof. Heading topside for that & I’ll purvey the flashing on both chimneys while I have the roofing asphalt opened.

Gracias. Each passing year provides more clarity to that statement. A couple years ago I committed to two feet on EVERY ladder rung. Found about 15-20 shingles requiring asphalt underlayment. One chimney need a bead around the bottom. Most likely additional I’ll find additional shingles requiring asphalt - I should save some work for another day maybe cut back more landscape Palms.

What a pretty day out. Can't get into too much because at some point my sister is going to call me and we're going to have a "conference call" with the Realtor that is going to list my Mom's house. We've come to find out this isn't going to happen for several months, but my sister seems to think we should still do this, who am I to object? I can't believe I'm being included.

Jamesbo my first thought was you brought an extra set of rims to put the new tires on. My second thought was you would return to find your car sitting on its brake drums. I don't see four wheel assemblies fitting in the itty bitty "trunk" behind the third seat.

Another slow day. We signed 70 wheels and were done before lunch. So we sat around till 2. Tomorrow better see us leaving when we're done. The lead's father died last night so he won't be around for awhile.

Not much else. Gotta think up something to do so the afternoon isn't a bust. I do need to find that other roll of garden fence.

Peace

You most likely are referring to the paper & shingles rather than the roof itself I suspect. The roof on the original home is 91 years old, the roof on the addition to the home is 75 years old. I have a friend who is a professional roofer (New Port Richey, FL), he came up for a couple weeks spring of 2003. We did a complete tear off, replaced any/all bad underlayment boards (14/13 pine), new valley tin (I have four valleys), new drip molding & new 45 year shingles installed (home & garage). Short answer: 18 yrs old.

Well, got a couple of stitches along the gumline, go back in week to get them removed. As an added extra bonus the crown beside this molar was cracked and loose, so he removed the loose half, and I will see my dentist about getting it replaced $$. My dental only covers 50% of crowns, and they just keep going up in price, so I suspect I'll have another $6-800 out of pocket to cover that.

When I'm wrong, I say 'I was wrong"

It isn't a "lister water bag" tied to the Jerry can, It's a canvas bucket.

How do I know you ask? I bought both and the Lister bag is enormous

Beautiful out! Sunny, 70*, springlike. Gonna do something outside this afternoon. Don't know what, but it will be outside.

Jamesbo judging from the question the guy asked you, he probably thought you custom ordered those tires to match the blue part on the car.

The canvas bucket makes a lot more sense. If the jerry can leaks your water might give you heart burn.

Lucky for you Dan you only need 50% of a crown.

So I had the virtual walkthrough with the Realtor yesterday. Really it was just my sister holding her phone and I was on speaker. The woman walked through the house and said the floor is outdated, take down all the pictures and fill in the nail holes, paint the front door black. And my favorite, replace the water heater because it's original and the new people won't be able to get house insurance. The front door is currently red. She said people don't like red front doors. If I was there in person I would have fired her on the spot. Anger doesn't have the backing when you're just a little voice on the phone. I'm sure my sister was nodding in agreement with every word. Hopefully my Mom is a little smarter.

The lead was at work today, which I didn't expect. That's why when we finished at 9 we left at 11. I found out that we have Monday, two Mondays from now, off for Presidents Day. I'm going to have to start my lobbying to work that day and keep the holiday as a personal day. I know nothing will come of it. When I was a kid in school we got Lincoln's birthday off and Washington's birthday off. Since Lincoln's birthday is on a Saturday this year we would have gotten Friday off. Wonder if they still get it? I'm guessing Georgia isn't in a hurry to celebrate Lincoln.

Okay gotta find something to do. Got plenty to choose from.

Peace

Hi guys,

Haven't been on in a couple of days. It's been a trying few days.

Dan - Sorry about the unexpected additional issue of the broken crown, that sucks!. Believe me I know about the recent pricing of crowns with my wife needing 4 of them to go on her implants. I should have went to dental school!

James - No doubt those ****-holes should have cleaned those white letters before mounting those tires, I'd be pissed too for what they cost mounted and balanced! From everything I've read, the blue film is supposed to be water soluble and should come off with some warm water and a stiff brush, but you sure as hell shouldn't have to do it.

I had mentioned a couple days ago my wife had a couple of scans scheduled for Wednesday that were ordered as part of her annual physical. Well, one didn't go too well. An abdominal ultrasound revealed some fibroid cysts that are no big deal, but there was also a concerning mass on or very close to one of her ovaries. No need to go apeshit yet, but I know she's scared and I'm worried for her. Next step is a trip to a OB/GYN specialist and probably a more detailed scan, and possibly a biopsy. We were able to schedule an appointment with a specialist a week from today. On the positive side her other scan on Wednesday was fine, and the next step in her teeth implant process went fine on Thursday. She is on schedule to get the impressions made for the four crowns in about 4-weeks.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Chris, One would think

BUT detergent and scrub brush didn't work

Mr. Clean "magic eraser" barely did anything

Brillo pads finally got most of it off

FWIW, I did call the 800 customer "no service" number and the kid directed me to a you tube video. I pointed out to him that the 1st thing the guy that made the video said was " Any decent tire store should do this for you but if you buy your tires at a discount store or on line you may have to do it yourself. He did give ne a $35 dollar credit on my next purchase which isn't going to happen So in reality I got ZERO

- end of rant-

LOL, I only wish. The left side of my face looks very stuffed chipmunk in appearance. Jamesbo, I have used Fantastik or 409 with a soft brush to remove the blue. Chris, I hope that the cysts are of no concern, hang in there with your wife. NORM! Dang those strawberries look good.

In my continuous work of putting the cart before the horse ( in this case trailer before the jeep) it was too pretty a day to scrub tires, so i finished the trailer. Now all i have to do is wait on my warm close personal friend to walk across the street and buy me an M 38 a 1 ( consider that a gentle nudge)

Norm you gonna eat all those by yourself? My neighbor used to make strawberries like that, I couldn't get enough of them.

Jamesbo my favorite white wall scrubber is a brass grill brush and Wesley's Bleach White. Was this place a chain or a no-name place by you? How did you get up to the lake in the first place?

About to leave for the house. Normally I'm done with chores by 5 but since it's such a nice day, and I can stay up late tonight, I figure I'll go on over. I only have a couple posts to sink and I should be happy for the day.

Mike, A chain of course

I thought you knew the Vista stays at the lake

A few weeks ago, I went to the nearest town to the lake to buy some groceries for my sick housekeeper . [Big C] and the truck transmission sensor went TU. So I had it towed [sans me because you can't ride with the driver because of the virus]

So I called a friend to come get me and put my possessions in a shopping cart in front of Ingles while me and Bear waited for a ride back home to the lake [the truck had already been towed\

Sooooooooooooooooooo, I put a floor jack, an extra SS ll wheel /tire cause I've got 9 up there and didn't want to deal with digging out the spare and drove the Vista Home with a tire date code 38 01 with my fingers crossed.

Made it home, had a flash of sanity and bought new shoes

Donny and his family are using m y lake house for a few days, Monday, I'm going to drive the Vista up and hitch a ride back with him

BTW, I put the canvas water bucket on the passenger side of the trailer with A Water Jerry can, The gas [red] jerry can is on the drivers side So, no heart burn

I did know the Vista stays at the lake. That's where I saw it. Where is the truck? At the lake? At a shop near the lake? You're going to have to hitch a ride back up to get the truck. Maybe my sister is right. I'm over simplifying things.

What a dumb rule. You can't ride in the tow truck. What about the highly effective masks? What about the 4+ "vaccine" shots? I bet if you slipped him a sawbuck you could ride up there.

Took my fence and posts to the house, but I forgot my zip ties. So I got the posts planted and I'll string the fence this weekend.

Since it was nice out today I saw mosquitos. That means I'm gonna have to get heartworm medicine for Tiger and start giving it to him. I don't give it to him in the winter. The vet has a fit when I say that. What's the point, the mosquitos aren't out when it's 40*.

Well apparently winter is over for a while now. It was 82 today and supposed to be 80+ until Wednesday, then winter will return. I had to run the AC on the way home from work today. Dang, it's early February.

Greg and James - Check out this '72 Vista Cruiser, not cheap, but awfully clean. Only has the 350 in it though. Greg, I believe the place it's at is in/near Grand Rapids.

Super simple swap for a more cube engine that has been done ever since these cars were out of the factory warranty. Heck, I have a couple of larger engines that someone could persuade me to part with for a song.

When I drive the Vista up to the mountains on Monday and get a ride back, Everything will be where it sposed to be

Chris, VERY nice Vista but I like mine better

James - I like several features of your Vista more too, the color combo, the buckets, and the 455. I just thought the one in the Ad was very clean. I never really cared much for the faux wood trimmed ones.

Your last sentence reminds me of a scene from "On Golden Pond" when Ethel (Katherine Hepburn) and Norman (Henry Fonda) are bickering. Ethel says, "We're barely middle aged." Then Norman comes back with, "Ethel, people don't live to be 150!"

Aloha

Another beautiful day. I've gotten conflicting reports on whether it's supposed to be warm or cold today. Right now with the sun out, it's cold as a mother. I vote for it being warm today.

Jamesbo that makes more sense. The truck being picked up was the clincher. Now I can sleep better. I actually slept fine, but it was bothering Tiger and he was restless and kept waking me up.

Speaking of crowns, my Mom had a tooth that needed a crown so she went to the dentist and they put on a temporary one. When it was time for the permanent crown, he couldn't get the temporary one off. I said, that sounds permanent to me. She didn't say how he finally got it off, I'm guessing a sawzall.

Only a fool would own two DUKWs. What on earth. Well...

Okay plenty of moving to be done today. Just three of us at the Awful house this morning. Still a good time.

Peace

Thanks Norm. I'm really going to put a concerted effort into moving stuff.

I just realized today is the 12th. It's Tiger's birthday. He's 6. Funny, I almost named him Abraham. I think Tiger better suits him. Besides, a dog needs to have a simple name, it's easier for him to learn and recognize it.

Okay here I go.

Yes. Animals in general only respond to a single syllable. They may respond to a series of single syllables but they hear single syllables & respond in general to a single syllable. There are some exceptions - birds in particular.
