Generator

that was good advice for people with deep pockets, which has also been said before. I figure it out one way or another the problem gets solved and the advice is always helpful
If you keep doing things without following directions you will need to put a zipper on the generator.
Why the heck would you have it apart with a new bearing and not put it in? Foolish.
If you don't have a vise, GET one. You will use it for the rest of your life anyway.
How about a neighbor or an auto repair garage to help you put the bearing in?
From what I saw on your test of the fields, they look to be good. Don't mess with them any more
Maybe I missed it but I didn't see any test results of the armature.
If you are still getting a charge no charge condition, I suspect an armature that is shorting or grounding (most probable thing) when the armature is spinning(dynamic) Or the reg is bad or both. When you have it apart to put the bearing in,retest the armature for ground.
Get back to us before you reassemble the genny. If possible, take pics of the armature all the way around. I want to see the area where it was rubbing and the copper bars. Do not clean anything before taking the pics.
I then asked him to report resistance.
His responses begin at this Post # #163

I've been very busy and my computer is acting up, so I haven't been following close.

Twice I provided you w/ Steve Blanchard's Delco Remy Generator rebuild beginning Dec. 25 - Post #131. I guess you missed it.

harbor freight has them from 25 dollars and up. $40 would get you something plenty good enough. There are garage sales everywhere. Look there too. People are always replacing kitchen cabinets and counters, and they throw away the old ones. Use an old cabinet with counter top for a work bench. Look on craigs list in the FREE section.
Yes there is a woodruff key that fits in a groove of the armature and in the gen fan and pulley. No it does not lock them on, it prevents them from spinning, Seldom will you need a pulley puller on a Delco generator.
