Back again and my new project!!!
I think your work deserves the much coveted
"Jamebo's Great Thread award"
p.s. I beleive in Gouda it's pronounced like we [Americans] would say Howda with the G sounding more like an H.
Don't ask how I know this.

Not as hard as i thought...

At first i blasted every hinge again..
then i dissasembled the upper hinges.... you can see the differences in height

then i pressed in the brass bushings and tapped in the lock bolt..
also ive straightened the one hinge which has the large free play of 3mm´s..
Sorry, after some real sh*tty work on the lower hinges i forgot to shoot some pictures from them...

very very nice.
my friend in Italy have a '72 cutlass..
I know oldsmobile`s are very rare finds in europe especially from 62 - 72

So some updates from the painter:
Car is completely done with filler, also all components like fenders hood and doors....
on monday they will start with sanding for first base coat....
Thank god i didnt strip all parts from my cutlass so the color choose was easy ....

The bad Headache hood tungue ( all 70 cutlass owners know what i mean....

) made it happen....Its very similar to the old paint just some more fine metallic flakes....
So here we go:
Things are a bit slow here at work and i was fianlly able to read this whole thread in entirety. I still cannot get to the site from home.
What an excellent job in such little time!
Heck, while I was being lazy on my birthday, you spent that whole day tearing your car down to nothing.

Great choice in wheels - you did well (as with the other parts, too).
Sorry i did not see your inquiry about the 'big' hinge bushing - I am sure you quickly found out where they went.
The top of the bottom hinge got them as they get the most wear. You pressed 'em in like I did.
Did you get new hold-open rollers? Yours looked pretty worn:

See my thread on how I replaced them - it worked well.
Keep up the great work - the new paint will be great and you will have that thing together by summer.
I will need to look you up the next time I am in Germany!

Torsten, looking good so far! What paint are they using? Also, I would guess waterborne.....? Love the wheels, did you stay with 15" or did you get them in 17"....I think Wheel Vintiques makes the SS1 in 17' now....
Thanks erik,
Yes its a waterborne paint.... i believe its not allowed to use some nitro paints anyway.....
I stayed with the 15" Wheels, 7" front and 8" in the rear... i want to have the original look as close as possible .....

Hi,
here are the updates on my cutty:
i`ve cutted some templates from the old sail panels, they are slightly different so i will check later which one fits better... and/ or i have to make a new custom one

also i`ve stripped the hood louver bezels from the old silver paint...
sometimes i could kill previous owner`s
(dont get me wrong
)
he stripped them with a angle grinder or something else... but he didnt remember that this is no steel

yeah its aluminium
so there are many deep grinds in it ....

I decided to paint them blue..... not silver ...
BTW: what is the correct paint for them???? car color - right?!!!
