Wow!

Doin' great! That is a good idea to use fiberglass to fill in the broken parts on your grill.

Thanks,

its a really shi*tty work but turned out nicely....

Not show car like, but showable...

If you look close to the grilles you can see some minor surface irregularities but i can live with that....

200% better than before and that s what i wanted.

So today i got no presents so i had to go back to work

Ive cleaned the rear axle and painted it

Also cleaned the power steering pump and box, primed and painted....

After that i did a little TLC on the Steering box screws and shims...

My first rule on this project was; always use new screws, bolts, nuts, and shims....
But the exception proves the rule...

Very nice work Torsten. I admire your diligence and skill and am sure your car will turn out beautiful when it is finished. Contact Monzaz about the rear disc conversion, he might be able to give you a lead on how to accomplish it.

Looking great Torsten! What color are you planning on painting it? Are you keeping the interior the same color? How about any suspension or driveline modifications?

Thanks big mean and OLD SKL 69,

my plans on paiting the car is either this metallic blue or a very high shiny black.....(maybe ebony black)

Interior will be black, with the new Scat Procar Seats (they look awesome and fit me great ) (the bench seat that came with the car is, i really dont know, never seen such a bench in a cutlass....nothing works, the retainer, the seat falls forwards the ashtrays are missing and youre sitting directly on the old old springs..., so it was a hard decision what i will do, but i did it right, these seats lookin classic and stock, and of course they are safer than the bench

With the drivetrain, ive a built
455 0.040 over with factory muscle camshaft, Performer ALuminium Intake, 750 cfm 4bbl from Summit, Stock pump, stock pan, HEI Ignition, HV Aluminium Water pump with a 3 core Aluminium Radiator with 2 x 12 elec. Fans.... Hope i didnt forget anything
Tranny at first will be the rebuild th 350 with a large tranny cooler

Suspension, yeah ehm :
Front stock arms with eibach 1.3 lowering and a 1 5/16 sway bar
Rear UMI Perf. control arms also with eibach 1.3 lowering and 1" sway bar
And a 4 wheel disc conversion with drilled slotted rotors and stock spindles in the front and vented rotors in the rear...
Yeah i think thats it

Greets Torsten

after that ive started to bolt on the new control arms, put the shims back in, and torqued them with the exact numbers that told me my manual...

i put on a bit of grease on the surfaces and bushings from the lower arms for an easier installation and anti squeeking....

here we go with the disc conversion...

compressed the springs and hold them in place between frame and lower control arm (CHECK for correct seat!!!!)

Bolted on the new spindles on the lower ball joints and tightened the nuts correctly.
then jacked up the lower arms that the spindle slides in the upper ball joint, bolt the nut correctly and slide the cotter pin in.
Then i could release the pressure from the spring and lowered the car jack.

now the rotors...
greased the inner bearing itself and in the rotor, then tap the seal in (i used a piece of wood, be careful!!!!)

After that the outer bearing, its the same procedure (do not economize on grease!)

The drivers side on the 12 bolt o axle is a bit more tighter to work well, so i have to cut an edge on the shim ive used...

Then put the rear springs in and installed the shocks (also KYB gas a just)...
Thats it for this week...
Tomorrow i will relax and indulge my Girlfriend

Jeeez Torsten, not even freezing temeratures can stop you.
The way it looks we will be driving to the german inspection at the same time in April.

I got the slide hammer today so we can do the diff one of these days. The way it looks we can hit it on Friday if you want.
I know that it is christmas day in the USA but they don´t know that we do all that on the 24th.

This Cutty is going to be an eye catcher when she´s done.
