1965 442 build
Another 12 hours in the garage...... Is anyone running a pertronix distributor, I've had the new one in and out about 5 times, it does not fit near as snug as the factory dist. I am a bit concerned.

Thank you very much, The Vette was a LONG 5 year project, and hopefully the last restoration I tackle. I am really liking the resto-mod world much better! I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel on the Olds.
Just updating some pics, I have about 400 miles on it so far and loving it!

Hi I have a 1965 cutlass I am about to take the body off. Wondering if you could tell me how you rigged up the engine host the way you did to lift it off.I love what you did I can only hope I can have the same success. Thanks

Welp.....537 miles and lost the 200R4.... But Art Carr was such a stand up guy about it he built another one and it is now in transit, he said to take my time, get the swap done and call him and he will send a truck to pick up the old one, no fee's at all. I am going to pull the engine also and do a little something here and there to it as well!
Its a Champion radiator. I spoke with Rick there at Champion who assured me that the radiator would cool a 750 HP Olds big block, so far I am not so sure about that. The quality of the radiator is pretty good, but they sent me 2 12" elec fans with my radiator and come to find out they only provide 1200 CFM each, its my understanding I need more like 2000 CFM each, I am going to try to run better fans and a high flow water pump and see what happens
ohhh yea
Welp.... Winter is here, heaters going, TIME TO GET READY, the hot rod power tour is coming up!

Hi Mark,
I just read through the build thread. You did an amazing amount of work and I like every aspect of the car. I got to see some good pictures of the exhaust system I bought from you. Thanks again and good luck with the new 200R. - Steven

Thanks Pal. I think you will be happy!
I don't have one on mine, don't really need it with street tires. As far as I know you only need one for the drivers-side, that's the torque side. My Grand National buddy Jack, he builds GN's uses old seat belt material-he says it gives just a little.
Even on street tires at 531 miles one side of my mounts was starting to tear.

Just a little update....
The cam is here adv dur 301/311, 242/250 @ .050 lift is .602/.592 112+2 LS
roller lifters here
new harm balancer is here
New Performer RPM & Edelbrock heads are now in the possession of Smitty @ M & J for some CNC port work
American Racing headers 2" primary 3.5 collector are being built
getting ready to order the Mondello bracket kit with pulleys and polished PS pump
a LOAD of parts are at the powdercoating shop
all engine bolts including head bolts are ARP polished stainless
will be stripping the engine bay AGAIN to shoot base/clear gloss black
still debating exhaust but leaning towards Ram Air Restorations 3.5 oval X pipe into Spintech's with 3" round outlets for tail pipes to the rear tire!
JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS FINISHED!

Mark I am running Ram Air Restorations 3 inch to the spin techs and 2.5 tailpipes on the 67. Good quality stuff, the only downside to me is that when you stand on it it sounds more like a new vette, Camaro, Challenger RT than a 60's 70's muscle car. I have a new pair of Flowmaster Super 44's but I am going to save those for the 64. But your AM headers may make a sound difference too I am running 1 3/4 inch Hookers. At speed on the freeway little sound in the back seat of the car.
Chadman has done that I do believe... I actually have two of those torque straps shown in the picture Robert!

Welp,
After a lot of thought and consideration, I sold the Art Carr 200R4 setup and opted for........that's right.......for......uhhhh huh for..................
480LE hughes performance with a Twist machine convertor, twist machine paddle shift on the column..... etc...
So far since after the last dyno session Mark (cutlassEFI) has ground up a new roller Cam for the 468, Smitty (M&J Proformance) has gotten the bastard file out on my Edelbrock heads literally, that was a huge mistake...... headers being changed from 1-3/4 hooker to 2" ARH, Exhaust being changed from 2-1/2 Magnaflow to 3.5 Oval Ram Air restorations into spintechs into 3" round tail pipes....Still considering what rear end to run!
More to come!

Gene,
I installed hooker competition headers last night, they clear great, I didnt have to tweak or bend the brake lines at all. I do however appreciate your keen eye, I thought the same, maybe luck or good manufacturers but it turned out great, ironically I always hear the horror of headers also, and mine fit perfect, no banging beating etc, I actually installed the headers myself, and had them installed complete in less than 20 minutes, I was prepared for a 4 hour battle

A friend is trying to install headers in his 65 with the 455. Could you please give use some tips. what hooker header p/n and did you use big block motor mounts to raise the motor or the standard 65 motor mount and cradle.?
I've learned a lot and changed a lot since that post. In no way shape or form would I run the hookers. They ended up hitting the frame in multiple places and the steering shaft. On top of that they restricted the flow of my Edelbrock heads. I am having a set of ARH headers built.

Done.
