Another 12 hours in the garage...... Is anyone running a pertronix distributor, I've had the new one in and out about 5 times, it does not fit near as snug as the factory dist. I am a bit concerned.

Thank you very much, The Vette was a LONG 5 year project, and hopefully the last restoration I tackle. I am really liking the resto-mod world much better! I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel on the Olds.

Welp.....537 miles and lost the 200R4.... But Art Carr was such a stand up guy about it he built another one and it is now in transit, he said to take my time, get the swap done and call him and he will send a truck to pick up the old one, no fee's at all. I am going to pull the engine also and do a little something here and there to it as well!

What type of wirelooms are they? I love the routing of your wires. Also, where are those valve covers found?

The wire looms are from summit. I may sell the valve covers, I'm looking for a shorter set that will clear roller rockers.

Its a Champion radiator. I spoke with Rick there at Champion who assured me that the radiator would cool a 750 HP Olds big block, so far I am not so sure about that. The quality of the radiator is pretty good, but they sent me 2 12" elec fans with my radiator and come to find out they only provide 1200 CFM each, its my understanding I need more like 2000 CFM each, I am going to try to run better fans and a high flow water pump and see what happens

Hi Mark,
I just read through the build thread. You did an amazing amount of work and I like every aspect of the car. I got to see some good pictures of the exhaust system I bought from you. Thanks again and good luck with the new 200R. - Steven

Mark got the wiring harness in thanks a bunch. I will be very interested the numbers are the motor when it's finished. Do you have or plan on making a torque strap?

re

Robert,

I actually have 2 polished stainless turnbuckles I was going to mount to the block/heads on each side then to the frame, but I am worried about vibration, hopefully someone can chime in!

I don't have one on mine, don't really need it with street tires. As far as I know you only need one for the drivers-side, that's the torque side. My Grand National buddy Jack, he builds GN's uses old seat belt material-he says it gives just a little.

My issue with needing two is that when I put it in reverse the header bangs the @#!t out of the steering arm. the turnbuckle style like I ordered will stop movement in either direction using just one, and I may use just one, I may look at building some type of bolt up L bracket for the frame and have some type of rubber between the bracket and the frame to dampen it a bit.
Even on street tires at 531 miles one side of my mounts was starting to tear.

Mark I am running Ram Air Restorations 3 inch to the spin techs and 2.5 tailpipes on the 67. Good quality stuff, the only downside to me is that when you stand on it it sounds more like a new vette, Camaro, Challenger RT than a 60's 70's muscle car. I have a new pair of Flowmaster Super 44's but I am going to save those for the 64. But your AM headers may make a sound difference too I am running 1 3/4 inch Hookers. At speed on the freeway little sound in the back seat of the car.

I've seen many a Mopar run that style torque strap with no issues. You might consider making some solid motor mounts.

I may have saw this on ROP or here that somebody took the motor mount and drilled a hole through it and bolted it together-matting the rubber to the steel???? Done.

Round ii

Welp,

After a lot of thought and consideration, I sold the Art Carr 200R4 setup and opted for........that's right.......for......uhhhh huh for..................
480LE hughes performance with a Twist machine convertor, twist machine paddle shift on the column..... etc...
So far since after the last dyno session Mark (cutlassEFI) has ground up a new roller Cam for the 468, Smitty (M&J Proformance) has gotten the bastard file out on my Edelbrock heads literally, that was a huge mistake...... headers being changed from 1-3/4 hooker to 2" ARH, Exhaust being changed from 2-1/2 Magnaflow to 3.5 Oval Ram Air restorations into spintechs into 3" round tail pipes....Still considering what rear end to run!

More to come!

A friend is trying to install headers in his 65 with the 455. Could you please give use some tips. what hooker header p/n and did you use big block motor mounts to raise the motor or the standard 65 motor mount and cradle.?

I've learned a lot and changed a lot since that post. In no way shape or form would I run the hookers. They ended up hitting the frame in multiple places and the steering shaft. On top of that they restricted the flow of my Edelbrock heads. I am having a set of ARH headers built.
