And I made a slight error on the location of the initals. It's at one end one the rough cast area of the camshaft. I pulled one of my old ones out to doublecheck. It is also on my Engle cam. My buddies '70 442 has this also, and we were discussing it a few years back. Another hint: Was at one time the largest Grey iron foundry in the world. Cast heads, cranks, cams, blocks for both the car and truck industries.

O.K. you should find "CWC" cast at one end of the camshaft, in the rough cast circumference. It stands for Campbell Wyant Cannon.

In 1969 what did Olds call the Toronado wheel..the one that debuted in '66. It has the holes around the perimeter of the wheel with a trim ring and a center cap.

Since it's Memorial Day, I thougt I would ask another [non Olds] question. How many B-17's did the Army Air Corp loose in the ETO during WW II?

So are you differentiating model year from calendar year? Or are you referring to a non-production engine?

Production engine, used two years. I knew that when posting it, that it would be assumed that it was the 260 of the late 70's. So there's another clue.

You're not thinking of a version the 1915-1923 flathead V8s, are you? I thought those were 247 cu in and 234 cu in.

Very well done. You beat me by 15 minutes - I just found the Viking reference. Excellent trivia question, by the way!

The '29-30 Viking V8 is what I was looking for. I could not find a cubic inch reference for 1905 engine, just horsepower and bore & stroke (I know, do the math) What's your source for that one? The floor is yours!

I would say that finding trivia questions to post, makes us check our references and hence, learn more.

OK, here's one you may not get as it is Canadian in origin.

Ransom Eli Olds' creations (Curved Dashes) crossed the US in 1905 and took 44 days to get from New York to Portland OR. What Ransom Eli Olds' creation was the first to cross Canada travelling from Halifax, NS to Vancouver, BC?

Bonus: What year was it?

Extra Points: How many days did it take?

Dang...I didn't mean to kill the thread. It was a 1912 REO that drove across Canada (Halifax to Vancouver) in 49 days in 1912. Imagine taking a new car out into the wilderness like that?

Its okay442much, Jamesbo answered the question correctly 1st and therefor by default it was his turn, and "his floor" However that was a great question that I could not answer. My source reads a little different than your quote on the trek across the USA. On May 8, 1905 it took Dwight Huss and Milford Wigle 45 days (not 44) to make the trip in "Old Scout" to the "Good Roads Convention" in Portland, Oregon being held on June 20, 1905. It was a "race" and the winner got $1000.00 and 2nd place came a few days later. Result was "Roads needed improvement"

To make a long story short, in 1915 Amanda Preuss drove a 1916 Model 44 V8 roadster from San Francisco to New York in 11 days, 5 hours and 45 minutes shattering the old record a decade earlier.

Jamesbo you have the floor.

Actually my sources tell me 44 days. May 8th 1905 is when they left NY however the convention was June 21, 1905 (The Association's 5th annual convention was to be held at the Lewis and Clark Exposition in Portland on June 21, 1905.)

OK thanks Jamesbo. Didn't mean to "butt in".

What was Ransom's fathers' name?
