Olds Trivia question....
Okay I guess we need to make the rules up as we go, I'd like to keep this trivia thread going. Not only is it informative to all, but it also keeps us on our toes. So, 1) 1st one with the correct answer has the floor with the next Oldsmobile trivia question, but the "floor" has to be okay-ed by the trivia questioner (to make sure of correct answers to his/her questions). 2) The correct answer with the go ahead has 24 hrs to post a trivia question (Olds related) 3) Any input is welcome and encouraged.
With that being said; jon69olds and junqueboi haven't been around to post. Can someone post a trivia question to keep it going? Trying to be fair here, let me know. Input anyone?
Thanks so much,
Scot

To be precise: The Delrado was the pre-production/working name for what became the 1967 Delmont 88.

Congrats! The baton is now passed on to you to ask the next question.
Standard Catalog of American Cars 1805-1942. He built one car as reported to The Motor Vehicle Review as "giving satisfaction". He declared himself to be in the market for good motor vehicle supplies, but never went into manufacturing. (in a nut shell).

Alright Dan you have stumped us, let's see you do it again
The floor is yours
Hmm, have I stumped the group? If not answered by tomorrow, I shall reveal the answer. Will do so as Friday morn I head out-of-town for the weekend.
Don't know who gets to ask the next question when mine has not been answered?

Olds came up with the idea for a gas fired steam engine. The boiler heated up quicker and with less effort than a wood fired or coal fired one. He also put this into a boat.
He attended a show where someone else had a pretty good gasoline engine and the thinking of whoever wrote what I was reading was that it was this show that changed Olds' mind to working with gasoline engines instead of steam.

As promised, rather than prolong the agony, here is the answer to the Olds trivia question of: "R. E. Olds invented what, for use on a non-automobile transport vehicle, and what was that vehicle?"
What = (Safety) Gate
Transport Vehicle = Elevator
Here is a pic of the invention
Here is a description of the invention

I have been advised it is incumbent on me to present another trivia question, since my last went unanswered.
Here it is: How did R. E. Olds occupy his time on the morning of his wedding? In other words, what did he do?

As I am leaving tomorrow morn for Carlisle and no one has even tried to answer the last trivia question, I shall do so:
How did R. E. Olds occupy his time on the morning of his wedding? In other words, what did he do?
What he did was spend the morning of his wedding day putting a new roof on his house!
With that, I now yield the floor to anyone wanting to post a question. I do so, as I will not be able to monitor the msg thread while on the road.
Keep the thread alive!
