With that being said; jon69olds and junqueboi haven't been around to post. Can someone post a trivia question to keep it going? Trying to be fair here, let me know. Input anyone?
Thanks so much,

You asked if someone could post a trivia question. I will give it shot:

What was the Oldsmobile Delrado, and what year(s)?

Well, if I read your article @ Collector Cars correctly, then none were produced, the Delmont was 1967 and 1968, with 100,076 & 66,624 respectively all models for each year.

Gee, I didn't know anyone read my newsletter! That you did gave you an unfair advantage, but rules are rules.

To be precise: The Delrado was the pre-production/working name for what became the 1967 Delmont 88.
Olds Delrado

Congrats! The baton is now passed on to you to ask the next question.

Name another person with the Olds moniker, who built a car. What year and where? (first initials are ok).

Are you talking about FE Olds, of Los Angeles? He worked for Locomobile in 1901.

Dan where did you find this? I can't find -anything- even close to this. He and his car must not have been very popular.

Standard Catalog of American Cars 1805-1942. He built one car as reported to The Motor Vehicle Review as "giving satisfaction". He declared himself to be in the market for good motor vehicle supplies, but never went into manufacturing. (in a nut shell).

Nope. Besides, a REO Speedwagon would fall within the definition of automobile transport. Yes, I include trucks as a form of automobile transport.

No, even though R. E. Olds did have involvement with power lawn mowers. But, back then they were not able to be ridden, so would not be a mode of transport.

Hmm, have I stumped the group? If not answered by tomorrow, I shall reveal the answer. Will do so as Friday morn I head out-of-town for the weekend.

Don't know who gets to ask the next question when mine has not been answered?

A very good guess! Not what I had in mind though. Don't know if he did that or not? He was into boats, I do know that.

Olds came up with the idea for a gas fired steam engine. The boiler heated up quicker and with less effort than a wood fired or coal fired one. He also put this into a boat.

He attended a show where someone else had a pretty good gasoline engine and the thinking of whoever wrote what I was reading was that it was this show that changed Olds' mind to working with gasoline engines instead of steam.

As promised, rather than prolong the agony, here is the answer to the Olds trivia question of: "R. E. Olds invented what, for use on a non-automobile transport vehicle, and what was that vehicle?"

What = (Safety) Gate
Transport Vehicle = Elevator

Here is a pic of the invention

Here is a description of the invention

I have been advised it is incumbent on me to present another trivia question, since my last went unanswered.

Here it is: How did R. E. Olds occupy his time on the morning of his wedding? In other words, what did he do?

As I am leaving tomorrow morn for Carlisle and no one has even tried to answer the last trivia question, I shall do so:

How did R. E. Olds occupy his time on the morning of his wedding? In other words, what did he do?

What he did was spend the morning of his wedding day putting a new roof on his house!

With that, I now yield the floor to anyone wanting to post a question. I do so, as I will not be able to monitor the msg thread while on the road.

Keep the thread alive!

Well, I emailed the Reo Transportation Museum in hopes of getting an answer but never got a reply. What was your source for that one?
