Question Olds Trivia question....

Here is a bit of Olds Trivia. Can use any means necessary to answer question and the correct replier gets to ask the next question. Other than 1970 what other year did Olds offer Sebring Yellow?

Almost..... The '77 yellow you are referring to is Bright Yellow, I need the "other" Sebring Yellow.

I know, I always got the Bright yellow and the sebring yellow confused

Ok here we go: The first 4-Door Hardtop was introduced by Oldsmobile. In what year did they hit the streets?

Okay. I have to go back to the first question for this one. In '75, only two models could be had with Sebring Yellow without extra cost. Name them.

OK- here we go. What special model did Olds release to commemorate its 75th Anniversary?

For extra credit, what made that model "special", and what year did it become a mainstream model with its own VIN code?

1972 Ninety Eight Regency. With "Tiffany" styled interior pillow upholstery and Tiffany gold paint, plus a special key ring. 1973 Regency became part of the Olds lineup thru 1996.

and...

Don't forget the Tiffany Clock!

The '73 version was pretty funky (I like!):

I believe from '74 on, the clocks were "digital" like the non-Regency RPO UE8 clocks with the exception of "Regency" lettering and some fancy squiggly lines on the faceplate.

Its up to rocketraider as if this is what he was looking for, but I believe its your turn jon69olds to post a question. This one stumped me so I cannot say one way or the other. Shame too because my Olds is a '72.

Jon has it. His turn.

Thanks for the clock pics, Joel. The 72 is classy. 73, like you say, funky. It was the 70s after all.

X2 Very nice, another "who would've thunk it" moments. Tiffany and Co? Really? Hmmm I'd better do some scrounging around the boneyards for one of these jewels. Nice.

Okay I guess we need to make the rules up as we go, I'd like to keep this trivia thread going. Not only is it informative to all, but it also keeps us on our toes. So, 1) 1st one with the correct answer has the floor with the next Oldsmobile trivia question, but the "floor" has to be okay-ed by the trivia questioner (to make sure of correct answers to his/her questions). 2) The correct answer with the go ahead has 24 hrs to post a trivia question (Olds related) 3) Any input is welcome and encouraged.
With that being said; jon69olds and junqueboi haven't been around to post. Can someone post a trivia question to keep it going? Trying to be fair here, let me know. Input anyone?
Thanks so much,
Scot

Aight. Here's some more, with extra credit as always.

1) What was the first year for the Starfire?

2) After that, what was its original place in the production lineup?

3) What year did it become a full "model" and how long did that last?

4) What year did it change platforms and how long did that last? (hint- these are the ones most people think of)

5) What was the Starfire's last incarnation and what years?

6) What years were high-line 88s Starfires by another name?

4) '61 until '66?
5) '75-'80
6) '67-'68 Delmont?

1) '54 Yup. One of the GM show cars.

2) 98 series What bodystyle?

3) '62-'66? A little earlier. 1957-58 Ninety Eights were all called "Starfire 98", even the sedans. They had neat little "Starfire" nameplates on their inside door panels.

4) '61 until '66? Yup.

5) '75-'80 Yup.

6) '67-'68 Delmont? 67-68 is correct but it was the Delta Custom series. Really apparent on the 67 with its front fender vents and wide bodyside trim.

Who's next? As many Olds-ologists as we have here, this could be fun.

In what year did Olds 1st offer the famous J-2 option?

Bonus: State the rated horsepower and compression ratio in that 1st year.

Ok - thought there'd be more guesses - so here's the answer:

Power Package was $38
Power Brakes was $40
Power Windows - Front Only - $50 - anyone ever seen this by the way?
Power Seat $70
Heater $80
All four Power windows was $97
Radio $101
Power Steering $108
Hydra-Matic was $178
A/C $592 - guess that explains why you don't see many with that option!

Hey - GAOldsman...why don't you give it another go?

[quote=Olds Dad;274516]Ok - thought there'd be more guesses

I know right? I never would've guessed the power pkg amt or the power seat amt. And on top of that all my prices for those options were for Canadian so they were off a bit from what you listed. Pretty neat stuff though. Thanks for that bit of trivia.

Okay here goes.... Out of these Oldsmobile V8's 330, 350, 394, 400, 403, 425 and 455 which one has a different firing order?

Bonus: Name the firing order.

Some of us learned that one the hard way...

Still not as bad as Chevy guys who get hold of an Oldsmobile and put the plug wires on completely ***-backwards, and then talk trash about the Oldsmobile because it don't run right.

Sorry for the hijack.

My (lovely and VERY understanding) wife suggests the following trivia:

How many cars are presently in my driveway / garage that were supposed to be either "only for parts" or "only to fix up and sell" - only to become a permanent fixture?

The answer is "all of them" -

Ok - Oldsmobile offered their take on the Bairritz Eldorado in the form of the Toronado Caliente - a "pimped out" version of the already luxurious Toronado - in what years were the Calientes offered?

Bonus - Besides the exterior trim, what was the key feature that differentiated them (think interior)
