The thieves hide the covers at the bottom of their scrap pile so they can't be seen, they are paid by weight. There also is no penalty for the dealers who take the scrap. I've had several houses copper pipes stolen. They get $20 and I get to spend $150 and a days work to put in plastc plus another $100 and another days work to replace a door or window they kicked in. I would have given them the $20. I know it's somebody in the neighborhood that sees the people move out because I keep blinds on the windows and lights on.
I really do blame the scrapyard dealers. When these raggedy a$$ guys come in a couple times a week with a trunk full of copper pipes, where the
hell do they think they got it, remodeling their mansions?
Oh well, part of the business I guess.
Snowing again today, will have to plow in the morning.

We had someone steal, some of the copper down spouts and scuppers. Then they rolled up some of the copper coping from the parapit walls of our Church.

The "Kirk" is on Peachtree Street [main drag] in Downtown Atlanta.

Cold out, staying warm by the fireplace burning insulation off wire, too much work to strip it, what else can you use to heat your house then sell the ash leavings when it's finished?

I worked on my powerful seat conversion all day yesterday, wagons are nice, you can roll set the seat over and set it on the load floor and have a nice area to work on it..
Today I have to go fight off the weekend warrior crowd at Home Despot and get me some duct tape so I can attach it to the the flaw.
I had to go pick up my daughter's car at the mechanic/body shop first yesterday.
The right front spring was broken, it was more than the strut mount.
I think she may have cracked it a couple years ago when she had her first epileptic seizure and ran off the road and it finally let go.
She smacked some driveway aprons pretty hard, trashed the hood and front fender hitting the mailboxes too.
I went to get in the car yesterday at the shop and it looked different??
The guy fixed the hood and fender and then he painted and cleared them just to be a good guy and thank me for my business.
My faith in mankind has been temporarily restored.

Morning everyone

Blue, it's nice to know that good people still exist.

There is still snow on the ground and cold here. To cold to work on the 48 and its driving me nuts just sitting there. I wonder if my wife would mind if I brought some parts into the living room to work on. Just simple small parts to clean sand and paint. Most wives are understanding aren't they?

One fellow in N.B. decided to climb over the fence into a power substation , it ended up as his last theft attempt. They found him there the following day. One of the thing they do steal from substations are the grounding wires for the fencing and structure. they also steal any rolls of wire that may be left unattended. About a month ago they were doing work on a substation nearby and they had a locked trailer to keep their supplies in , but it was broken into and a large roll of wire went missing. They found it at the local scrap dealers place. two guys were found in his garage stripping the wire.
With the prices the problem will continue to get worse. I have heard of Oil tanks having the copper tubes cut off , even if there is oil in the tank. It then leaks into the ground and costs the homeowner thousands to clean the spill.
When I ran the Store I had propane stove and hot water tank. One day there was no hot water , I checked the tanks last as they were out behind the store and one was gone , the other hissing , I found the second as it was pulled over and it rolled down a little hill into some trees behind the store , also hissing. With the strong smell of propane in the air I decided to put out my smoke. called the fire dept. and propane company. Ended up switching to electric.

Mawn'in all

It's a beautimus day, but de forecast calls fer storms tomorrow. Guess I will miss my Monday Golf out'in.

Had sum Vegamite on toast in honor of our friend Col.

Blue,

Glad cha got your daughters car fixed. Sounds like ya got a great shop with good buddies.

Since I got rid of my cows 4/5 years ago, I gave my mechanic buddy sum extra hay rings I had laying round. He's one of the few who still raises cows. Maybe I could go over there and take a video so Sandy will have a better understanding of the expression I'm gonna use when it storms tomorrow and pours.

Morning All!

Ken.... that's funny, lol!

Cloudy here today, but it's in the 40's. We're supposed to go into the 50's tomorrow and get rain, which means flooding, cause the ground is already saturated.

Went to the BMV yesterday and got plates for both my vehicles. I got rid of my SKOLDS plate from the Intrigue. Didn't want to pay $104 a year for it. They raised the price of the personalized plate last year. That's just too much money. TINCAN was already taken, so I just got a regular plate for the Rav too. Still spent $144 in there.

Then I stopped and got my new glasses. I can't read through the reading part. I hold a paperback on my lap to read, and my arms rest against my thighs, and I look down to read - I don't hold it straight out in front of me! So that's not good. I told the girl I would try them and let her know. Found out when I left though, that the top part for distance is way off too. Everything looks out of focus. Especially last night, driving after dark. Lights were very out of focus. Very frustrating. I took them off and could see much better without them.

Even in my old glasses, I can see better distance now without them. He said my distance vision improved, and my close up got worse, at the exam. So I'm about to take my new glasses back down to the store and tell them to send them back. I have 90 days, and for $400, they're gonna make them right, lol!

I need to go out and fill the birdfeeders. I hate to when it's gonna rain, cause they don't eat it if it gets wet, and it always does. Pickshi*'s!

Might go up to sister Jean's later too. Have to get my hair washed first.

Jamesbo..... the Azzo stuff sounds good! What's the recipe for that??

Citcapp..... they've been stealing copper around here for a long time. Even from churches, they've shown on the news. I've heard about the manhole covers too. It's sad.

Well I better get up and get busy. Talk to ya later! Have a good day, all!

Evening everyone. Actually made it to 50 here today and I finally can see most of the grass in my yard for the first time since Christmas! Never seen it this bad before. Supposed to be 55 tomorrow with more rain, probably going to be flooded. Can't wait.

Warm still mawn'in. Perfect Tornado weather. But it's not spose to hit fer 5-6 hours.

Zo, I'm off to play golf.

Be'in a child of the 50's, I remember my Atomic bomb "Duck and cover" drills from Grammar School. I sure hope, I don't have to use them on the golf course today.

Sandy/Pat,

My Super model loves the Cuban red rice with ground beef dish. I don't put the sour cream on it. IMHO, It doesn't need it.I feel certain ya'll will like it.

GTG

Ya'll have a wonderful day.

Morning All!

Well it's raining and flooding here today. Thunder woke me up 4ish this morning. Windows were rattling, lol! Started out in the 50's and is dropping. Snow coming later, of course. Lots of flooded places on Rt. 91 this morning, and also here at work. Like little rivers running everywhere, lol! Our back yard looks like a lake.. Water just laying on top of the ground. Oh well. It is what it is....

Brian put in our new server here, over the weekend, so lots of computer glitches this morning. He has to keep calling Houston. "Houston.... we've got a problem".... but he's getting it worked out. Printer issues right now.....

I feel about up to 70% today Better but not great! Jamesbo...... I'm gonna try that recipe! Looks good, thank you very much! I hope you don't have a tornado!!!!

Well have a good day all, and stay safe!!

Hi, guys (and Sandy!)

It's 65 out and windy. We're supossed to get the same tornado's as Jamesbo, and the big winds. Hope the winds don't uproot and trees and knock down the power lines! I did make sure my generator started OK just in case. I figure that between the 3 cars we have enough gas to run the generator for about 100 hours!

Hang on, Jamesbo...... Maybe we'll get lucky!

The forsythias are starting to bloom and the lily's about ready. The camellias are in full bloom and gorgeous!

Sandy, I'm happy that your cold, or whatever, is getting better.

Morning All!

Anyone up out there??? It's a beautiful sunny morning here, but cold. In the teens right now. Lots of flooding around - theres ice across Rt. 82 here in a few places, where the water went across the highway. A couple of people were swept away yesterday when they drove into the standing water. Sad. I don't know why people would drive into the water though? Especially if it's by a creek or river.... Lots of basements and houses flooded.

One guy that works in this office complex here must be jonesing worse than me - he drove his 85 Mustang this morning! Still too much ice and melting snow out there for me to be driving mine, even if I could, lol.

So we have another beautiful Olds on the calendar this morning! Wish I were on that beach where the pic was taken, lol! I could use it!!!

Have a great day all!

You have an '85 Rustang too Sandy.
You'll drive anything.

I tore off February so I could see March on my calendar, I will do the same for every succeeding month so I can always see my car.
On the 18th I have to give my daughter Erica away, otherwise March looks pretty boring.
I hate St. Patricks Day.

I put a big pipe in my yard with stone over it in the swail and it and the dogs feet stay high and dry in the rain now, no mud feet from that at least.

I finished my powerful seat conversion.
The only thing that looks different is that there's a switch instead of a lever on the side of the seat.
The battery is getting pretty low from me sitting in the car and playing with it.
I can't think of any more factory power options I could put on the car.

Well it is morning , we had snow then rain then snow yesterday. The worst part was the wind. broke some branches and a couple of trees I noticed , plus my power went out for a couple hours but thats better than a couple days. Cool this morning so the church which I plow every second Tuesday morning was a mess.
Sandy you need to spice up your dishes more I think and use garlic whenever possible. I love lots of different spices and in the last 5 years only had a bug once. Good lord knows I don't need the extra aggravation. I have been getting massive head aches every night to go with the back and neck pain and some mornings get up cause of the headache. The specialist has been avoiding me I think and my next appointment is June. Seeing as it's not urgent I will have to see what my Doctor can do for me.Even the pain killers are only about 50% effective at best.
It is supposed to get really quite warm later this week and I hope we don't get much rain if it does. The rivers are pretty high now and will definitely cause lots of flooding.Though it is the only thing I get to do outside these days I really am tired of plowing snow.

Well we are 30 degrees colder than normal. -33C this morning with the wind, feels like -40 (C of F same thing). Got a flat on the Aurora last night. I wasn't going to change it in the cold so she's at home in the driveway. I took the Montana to work. I'll fix the tire on the weekend. I am seriously considering heading to CA, FL or Cuba in the next few weeks (get the passport updated). I am sick of winter....and it's March today. Rant over.

Good morning guys & gal

Well March came in like a lamb here, cool with light rain but we are supposed to have 50-50 mile and hour winds tonight and tomorrow so we'll see what happens. I have several trees in excess of a hundred feet tall on my property and have only lost 2 in the last 40 years and both of those were hemlocks. I cut the remaining hemlocks down and haven't lost a tree since. Had all of the trees sail trimmed last year so the wind does not effect them as much. March is the geological spring according to the weather man this morning so lets all hope it starts soon. I for one am more then ready.

Have a great day

Well, Pat- March is fine, so far!

The last day of February was terrible! Bad t'storms and tornado's all around. We got over an inch of rain in an hour. We couldn't use TV due to rain fade which happens a few times during the year. Our forecast for the week is lows-40's and highs-60's. I'll take it.

Be well, everyone!

Morning All!

Are you awake out there, lol??

It's an absolute gorgeous morning here today! It's frosty and 35 degrees, but the sun is out, and the Robins and birds were singing when I walked out of the house - just one of those mornings that makes ya glad you're alive! I saw the little green stalks of the crocus starting to come up too!! And...... in only 11 days, we set the clocks BACK UP an hour!!!!! Yes..........! Daylight!! What a wonderful thing!

Going to start my spring cleaning this weekend and get it out of the way.

It's quiet in here. Gonna be a long day..... Larry's birthday is coming up on the 8th. Cake and card is all I'm doing. That's my new thing, since my birthday. I'm not going all out for anyone anymore.

So is Adrian on his vacation now? I don't remember all where they were going - it was in our old thread.

Well have a good day all!

Jamesbo, my Trophy Wife has quit doing email because of this! I told her it would create lots of calls from friends that only send her old jokes or Bible stuff!

When I was in bidness, I always had trouble getting one of our designers to return my urgent calls..... So... one day I sent him a Telegram that said "Dear Jim stop Disregard previous message stop regards, Don stop"

About a half hour later, the phone rang and it was Jim!

Gonna be 70 here today! Guess thats about 20 for our northern and down under friends.... Anyway, 70 is great for today!

Hope everyone is doing OK today!

Forget the coffee and just have an Irish with some whipped cream on top.

I wonder if anybody ever threw Ben Franklin out the second story window when they were having trouble with their printer back in the olden days?

Did you ever answer when I made the phone call to you Jamesbo?

Spring cleaning Sandy?
Teepo's springs were awfully dirty when I had her, remember to get the insides of the coils too, just because you can't see something doesn't mean it shouldn't be clean too.

I did a mass Facebook invitation to the giant open house party at your house on April second Sandy so don't clean too good.
I've received 12,000 RSVP's so far and 11,428 said they would be there.
The turnout may have have something to do with the free food, booze and lodging, plus I told them that Justin Beaver would be there.
I hope you have some extra sleeping bags.

Good afternoon everyone.

I think it has been a week since I was last on. It is a sunny, windy day here today.

School and projects have been keeping me busy. Spent some time working on the Cutlass last week. The engine is back together and back in.

Built some of the core parts for the bbq at school and accomplished what cave men did a long time... make fire! Now that we know our design works we have to refine it and hopefully it won't be too long until we can "test" it with steaks.

Bluevista, now is it time for custom power options? Maybe make a power tailgate like on the Custom Cruisers?

Hope eveyone has a great day.

Thanks fer de invite to Sandy's Party Blue, Mine came address "Occupant."
But I understand completely.

If you were de one who calls and says, "This is an attempt to colllect a debt. If you remain on this line you are admitting you are George Jones"

Den no, I haven't returned your call.

Sounds like a great trip Ausraven.

Enjoy the warm temperatures while you can because it won't be that warm on your trip.

Hope you have a great time.

Car designer,

Ya need to break in a new grill with a Boston Butt not steaks.

Pat,

Printers to me are like disposable lighters. I jes toss dem and go get another But dis one was only a few months old when it went "Tango Uniform."

Ergo, I was left with Tech support in Inja and made a new friend Jamu who help me figger the frigg'in problem out. I don't beleive he could understand Southern any better than I could understand Indian [dot not feather]

I'm sorry, I jus to old to deal with sum things

1] Sideways engines in cars
2] People who don't speak English
3] Pants around your knees
4] Ball caps on bass ackwards [unless your a catcher]
5] Young hard body babes with tatoos on their backs
6] Bureaucrats
7] Religious Zealots
8] Unbridaled Libertines.
9] Pierced noses [or other privat parts]

Dat kinda stuff.

Morning All!

Sunny and 18 degrees this morning. We have more rain and snow coming so they're still warning us about floods. I'm gonna enjoy the sun today while it's here, lol!

I have to take Tincanio back to Don's tonight and drop off so they can fix the console lid, and my owners manual is in. I hope they give me something nice to drive home and to work tomorrow. Especially since it's gonna get crappy again.

So... our gas jumped to $3.49/gal. and higher yesterday!!!!! What is it in other areas now? I do believe a price freeze should have been put on gas several months ago!!
People are not going to go out and buy things to help the economy when they can't afford the gas to go! Washington needs to be doing something to fix this! Ok, that's my political rant of the day, lol!

Adrian.... I thought you might have left already! Make sure you have alot of money for gas, and bring your heavy coats, lol!! You never know what you're gonna get around here! You all are going to have a busy trip!

I have to go down to the Dairy Queen at lunchtime and order Larry's cake for his birthday next week. He's getting a Hawaiian Blizzard cake, cause he liked the one I got for sister Jean back in July. Then I have to go across the street to Giant Eagle and pick up my heart pill refill and go over to Sears Optical to get back my glasses to wear until the 12th, when they are gonna do another eye exam. I better not have to pay for it either!

When I dropped off my glasses last Sunday, the girl was kinda upset because I wouldn't wear them. "It takes more than 1 day for your eyes to adjust." The way I look at it is, my eyes shouldn't have to adjust that much. I should have been able to see clearer in the distance, not worse, if my distance vision got better. I told her I wore them all day when I got them, and I couldn't drive with them, and I didn't see the sense in wearing them when everything is fuzzy! For $400 bucks, I WILL be able to see out of the friggin glasses! Believe me.......

Well have a great day all!

Jamesbo..... you are funny!!! Printers are pretty cheap - they get you on the ink refills!! That stuff is expensive! I also agree with you on your list! I don't understand much of that myself!

friggin cold this morning , the temp was - 14 with the wind chill at -25C. They promise that next week will be above freezing , HA. They are only at about 50% accuracy one day to the next. looking after 2 houses right now as mom flew out to B.C. to my siblings place in Courtnay. I have 2 brothers and a sister there. last time she went Sue talked her into staying 2 months. Since Sue makes the plane reservations she always does it one way. Well mom is missing nothing as far as weather anyway. No doubt Sue will be hatching a plan for another cruise somewhere new in the world. They have done quite a few in recent years , Hawaii , Alaska , the carribean , London to St. Petersburg , new York to Quebec City , and a few others. She was thinking about either the Galapagos or the Amazon. Mom is 83 so I guess if you're able then go for it. Though they have not been able to drag me on one yet , and probably never will.
Nothing new here , plowed way to much and the last couple weeks my neck has really suffered. Every night for 10 days in a row I have had extreme headaches and some mornings get up with one. The specialist seems to be avoiding my calls , I leave messages with my # but never get called back. I guess nothing will happen til June , keep me on the hook for longer. maybe , just maybe my own doctor can find something to calm things down , induced coma maybe.
