I bought this key chain this week from Pat (patshotrods). He states it's "NOS - New - Fine Pewter - Made in the USA Key Chain / Ring" I suspect there is no manner of confirming whether Oldsmobile ever issued/produced such a key chain &/or whether an NOS statement is appropriate. It's most likely NOS to whoever manufactured it since it's brand new and I'm fine with whoever made it. I thought it was nicely made and I like it. Pat's a really nice person and I enjoyed the transaction. It should arrive Tuesday if the weather holds out between his place (VA) and mine (NC) via USPS.
Hmmmm....I "think" you may encounter resistance at City Hall. I "thought" I recall reading somewhere at some time (directly after the Earth cooled) that a mailbox (and its attachments) are considered private property but allowed on city/county/state right-of-ways - maintenance, repair, accidental damage is the responsibility of the owner. I could be wrong about this. I recall my parents and others have been down this road with city/county/state owned snow plows taking out mailboxes. I'd call first before heading out. Is it more than a 4" x 4" wooden post or one of those fancy smancy type $300 customized posts glittered in gold?
Norm - The mailbox post and support is somewhere in-between the 4x4 wooden post and the gold plated model. Gotta meet damn HOA standards don't ya know. Our mailman was delivering our mail this morning as I was still trying to jerry-rig a temporary support for the mailbox to the remaining post. The mailman said, take that broken piece up to City Hall, I believe they are required to replace it. I completely understand your point about calling first, but City Hall is less the 10-minutes away, and I'm hoping if I'm standing there with a busted up piece of it, it will be harder for them to just dismiss me.
Chris - Good thing I didn't have a drink in my mouth I would have blown it out my nose after reading your post (LMAO) "...standing there with a busted up piece of it, it will be harder for them to just dismiss me". Yeah, that HOA thing. Happy I don't have that to annoy me.
Well, this Izzy thing is going to annoy me all day tomorrow. I'd prefer 6" of the white stuff compared to severe thunderstorms, winds of 30 mph gusting to 40 mph - 45 mph. It's going to move through quickly which is bothersome - since these fast tracking cold fronts pack some energy.

Norm - Glad you got a good chuckle out of it! Now I'm thinking, if they refuse to pay for the damage, I'll just inform whomever I talk to, to give the destroyed piece to the snowplow driver, and he can add it to his trophy case!
I'm going to watch a movie before calling it a night. I'm more inclined to keep a watchful eye on the weather since residing along the Eastern Crystal Coast of North Carolina the past 21 years - not only for hurricanes. As long as I have the opportunity let me beat this to death for you.
An approaching cold front frontal boundary contains more energy than any other type frontal boundary where a cold air mass overtakes a warm air mass - and, that's in basic "general" conditions where the underlying land mass is modestly uniform e.g. cold air mass overtaking warm air mass on the ground. The ground will generally be at a constant temperature on both sides of the two air masses (generally). The ground temperature currently is about 34°F - 36°F - the approaching cold air mass is far colder than the ground; but, as Izzy approaches the Atlantic Ocean - wait for it - the current temperature of the Atlantic Ocean is ~60°F. That's a difference of x2. The amount of energy which will build up along these colliding air masses is going to be substantial. I suspect a line of tornadoes will ensue. That's all I have to say about this. It should be interesting. I'm located at the 4:33 point on the map.
Well, I was on the porch watching the rain blow sideways and hearing the wind whistling and heard something hit my new tractor shed. When it get light, I guess I'll go see WTF happened
Edit, It's nothing but a few sheets of tin blow up. The stack of extra tin is all over the place. Note to self. Put cement blocks on extra tin
Back when I was a white hunter in Kenya. If some customer wounded a leopard and it ran off into the bush, I would have to go into the bush and finish the poor animal off I'd wrap a heavy sweater around my neck. It would protect my neck should the wounded leopard try to attack and claw me. Same with flying tin
Rain. Started last night and is raining now. Not freezing, I'd say it's around 40. But the scuttlebutt at the Awful house is that it will freeze this afternoon. Good thing I have no plans to go out.
So one thing I've never understood. When we get bad weather people flock to the stores and buy up all the milk and bread. Unless you are feeding the cast of Sparticus, a couple loafs of bread will last longer than the cold spell. Same with the milk. Just how long do people think the bad weather is going to last? And why only milk and bread? That sounds like a poor sandwich.
Got some chores to do today, it will be an inside day. I think Tiger and I will play a lot of ball in the house.
Mike - not sure about the bread & milk notion. I can see stocking up on toilet paper in winter months during a storm since it’s hard to find decent Oak tree leaves.
Ugly here & getting uglier by the hour.
I’ll head out to the man cave to plug in the block heater on the F250, grab several tools and begin some indoor maintenance activities remainder of the day.

Chris - Thanks. I have no tin sheets laying about, ensured my storm windows are all down/closed. 40-45 mph winds gusting 60-65 mph forecast. Seas expected 8’-14’. Good fun.
Weather missed us here in Evansville. This is good, because I have yet another weekend of work. I hope to be off next weekend. I have worked since December 13th solid and have had 4 days without work in the past 2 months. We're putting the finishing touches on the punchlist on this conveyor this weekend. Lights and other features. I took my time lapse footage and some action footage of a small go pro style camera riding a pallet through the system, sped the latter up 8x, combined them, added music and title card and fadeout, and sent it in to the group that does our editing of those time lapse footage for our big virtual meeting here in a couple weeks. We'll see if it makes it in the presentation.
John - I hope you're able to get some serious time off soon, and that you now have most of the kinks worked out of the new conveyor system. Also, I hope management appreciates your dedication in trying to get the new system in and working as quickly as possible. Sure sounds to me like you deserve much more than just an "at a boy"!
The mountains report I receive from my security company says they got 6" and lost power around 7:00 a.m. It will be a mess up there for a week Sure am glad I don't have a freezer full of anything but ice

James - Glad you didn't have much there at home, and missed the mess that's surely going on in the mountains!
And, you have a quarter sitting on that ice to validate if anyone is lying to you about a power outage.
The quarter is sitting in a little plastic tub. It will be interesting [to me] to see how long several bags of store bought ice will keep a freezer cold with the door un opened. My quarter may not sink
My super systematic way to determine how long the power will be out is to count the poles on the power company trailers . Last year I saw 4 and turned around and came home
Does your friend the Publix check-out lady have an address of the bimbo who purchased $700 worth of food? I mean, in case you need to restock in the mountains.

I kinda doubt it but I'm not gonna restock my Frigidaire until I get my generator [Remember I lost some Omaha Steaks last year]
Norm, I know weather expert but it appears [to me[ this storm is hauling a$$
Actually snowed here for awhile as well. Must have been some warm air somewhere because it was big flakes. Looked like lake effect snow from up home. It's stopped now which is good because I was twitching so much I almost fell down.
Jamesbo that's a good system. I had a similar one when I was looking for my first apartment down here. I rode around and if a place had too many cars up on blocks then I kept looking. No joke. I had one of those apartment trader books and all the ones that said "On MARTA" I tore the page out and threw it away. I had been briefed on MARTA before I got here. The place I ended up with wasn't all that bad. Although my apartment faced the front and I lived down the street from the hospital so I heard sirens all day and all night.
Koda you gonna show us the video? When one of the airplanes gets some special paint job they set up a time lapse camera and record the work.
Lunch. Seems like a good day for Raman noodles and Frango mints.
Our grandson Ollie's 3rd B-day party was a big success yesterday, and he had a great day! Nothing makes me happier than seeing our grandkids happy and healthy!
Ice cream B-day cake from DQ Blowing out the candles with Mom & Dad Opening presents with Mom, Aunt Blaire in the background B-day pic with (L-R) cousins Keegan and Gabe and Mom, Paw Patrol was obviously the party theme!

Chris - Nice pictures. Remind me - the Mom is your daughter or the Dad is your son?
Norm - Ollie's Mom is my oldest daughter Taylor, she also has our youngest grandaughter Anna who is 8-months old. My younger daughter Blaire is Keegan's (4) and Gabe's Mom, we are celebrating Gabe's 9th B--day next Sunday.

A nice clan you've you've put together. I think clan is preferred over tribe, I believe?
Chris, I hope you told him Happy Birthday from all of your Olds friends
Sorry James, I neglected to mention that yesterday, I'll be sure to mention it next Sunday when we're B-day partying again! As far as "Olds" banter goes, I will say all 3-boys love going for rides in Grandpa's hotrod, they want to go everytime they come over.

I don't get it either, Mike. I would stock up on beer, bourbon, and cigarettes as those aren't perishable, and in a long term catastrophe can be used to barter for food that hasn't spoiled yet (as milk and bread would after a short while).

Glad the weather missed you. Your video creation sounds quite nice. I hope it is well received if used in the presentation.
