Are you sensing a reason why masks are still recommended in enclosed areas of high density? IOW, there’s a reason why the rest of the world has once again implemented mask mandates. You should probably have worn a mask to the child’s birthday party, in all honesty, I’ll speak straight from the hip - they shouldn’t have had a birthday party. We remain in a pandemic like it or not.

I can't disagree with any of your points. We have been wearing masks again when we go in stores, should have had one on at the b-day party, but had gotten too complacent with what may be a false sense of security from the vaccine/booster.
Oddly enough, One car got zero sticker and another got a sticker and and half.I guess some machine hickuped Naturally, they wouldn't come apart. I was very please when a call to the tax/tag office resulted in a nice lady say. "We can just reissue both of them"
Glad it appears it will turn out easy, James. Sometimes you get someone who cares at a bureaucracy- most times not....When I got my 1st vaccination they told me to keep the card cuz I would need it for my second vaccination. So when I went for 2nd vaccination I gave it to them. After vaccination I threw it away. (I always throw away unneeded clutter). So later we planned to go thru Canada on our trip out to Maine (we ended up not ), anyway I then realized I should have kept that card. I called the County Health Dept and the lady said no problem, I will give you a copy! Great!
Cold again this morning, 24° at 0700 and looking at a high of only 44°. They've now lowered the high for Friday to 65° from 70°, but now Christmas Day it's supposed to be 68°.
No big plans for today. We've got Christmas shopping done, now it's sit back and wait to see how healthy we are come Friday as to how much family socializing we can do. I did a heavy cardio workout yesterday afternoon and I felt great, not feeling any issues yet.
Don't know how many of you guys are traveling over the Christmas weekend, I'm sure Mike is, anyone who is, I wish you safe travels. Hope everyone has a great day!
Agree 100%. I really wish Missouri would vote to go to DST year round like a couple of states have!
I should have followed up last night regarding my evidently not-so-clever statement regarding Winter Solstice.

Oh yeah. Bring it on.
I wasn't referencing DST. I was referencing the increase in 6+ daylight hours beginning today. 2 additional minutes/day for 180 days = 360 minutes/60 minutes/hr = 6+ hours. Bring it!
I was tempted to make some comment about a day celebrated by women who dance barefoot in the woods and don't shave, towards that comment, but I refrained.

Norm - I.knew what you were referring to after your 1st clarification. My comment about DST, was unrelated to your Winter Solstice comment, with the exception that it provides for extra sunlight later in the evening, vs. the morning, which I prefer.
Two new USPS arrivals from Amazon today. A new pair of Skechers waterproof golf shoes and a new pair of FootJoy waterproof golf shoes. The issue now is I can't play golf until I heal from a miserable tennis/golf elbow. I managed to JAM my right arm into the ground on a couple occasions last Saturday and this past Monday. There is significant pain not only w/in the elbow but right down to my wrist and up through my bicep into the shoulder. It feels like both the radius and ulna were run over by a steam roller. I'm alternating between cold/hot compresses along w/ a heating pad. The pain resolves in a couple days, but the tennis/golf elbow (tendonitis I guess) remains. Just as soon as I began to recover from the left shoulder rotator cuff injury I'm now plagued w/ tennis/golf elbow. Oh well, I have two new pair of shoes to stare at - happy days.

For sure. Even Hannibal is asking for clarification:

Norm - Nice shoes! Good luck rehabbing the elbow, that's a tough injury to get past at our age without complete rest for a considerable amount of time.

Chris - Thanks. Have you had this injury? I remember getting this injury from time-to-time in my teenage years. I was a hardball baseball pitcher on several city leagues. Overhand deliveries didn't really produce this type of injury, although extended use via pitching did produce some elbow pain occasionally. What really would set it off was delivering side-arm pitches. Although not a normal delivery of my pitching repertoire, I tried on occasions to learn how to pitch side-arm occasionally. Over the years, I've had several tennis elbow injuries - a couple times playing tennis (how novel right?), and while playing golf. This one has taken me down for the count. Aging - what a nightmare.

Norm - I have not had that specific injury. I did have the same type of injury in my shoulder though, caused by excessive weight lifting. As I'm sure you already know, a tennis/golf elbow is nothing more than several micro-tears in the connective tissues (tendons and/or ligaments) of the elbow. Because these connective tissues lack the same amount of blood flow that muscles do, it is harder for them to heal. I could not get the injury in my shoulder to heal through the use of rest, anti-inflammatories, and home heat (heating pad, hot water bottle). What it eventually took was professional PT therapy via deep heat ultrasound treatments. I almost immediately started feeling relief after only a couple of treatments and completely healed within a month of starting treatment.

Chris - I may have missed your statement in previous threads regarding deep heat ultrasound treatments. I did some research on a couple of the consumer level deep heat ultrasound devices and they were mixed. There were several of varying quality and output. I think I may look into those once again. If deep heat ultrasound worked I'm all-in on further evaluation as it relates to the rotator cuff injury. Thanks.

Norm - I've never researched the quality or effectiveness of the home ultrasound heat devices. When I had my shoulder injury that wouldn't heal, I went to a well respected Orthopedic Surgeon first who did an x-ray, MRI, and evaluation first. He then directed me to a Sports Rehab place who performed the ultrasound treatments, combined with specific stretching and strengthening exercises. If I ever have a similar injury again, I will not mess around with home remedies, I'll head straight to the professionals.
I’m not a golfer so I gotta ask- are the waterproof shoes for playing in the rain, playing a ball in the pond, or ??? As a non-golfer I thought the object was to keep the ball on the grass.

Kenneth - Yeah, valid question. I've had waterproof golf shoes in the past and they are excellent at shielding water from your feet; yet, for only a select period of time depending on usage. Generally, you can get a minimum of ~3 years of usage from a golf waterproof shoe - they're warrantied for one year (generally). They're not for playing a ball in the pond and perhaps not even in the rain since rainwater is going to soak down into the shoes from top to bottom and soak your socks (if you wear any).
They're considered waterproof only with respect to they repel water from playing in the mud, walking through water soaked areas of grass at least up to the tops of the shoes. In the summer time it really isn't so much of a deal (at least for amateurs) since the warmer weather doesn't make your feet cold when your feet get wet. Unlike the winter months. I have basically several types of golf shoes - I wear breathable golf shoes in the summer time (two types) - one with cleats and one without cleats. They are without question not waterproof. I can't (I could) wear the same golf shoes in the winter but they would definitely get wet under the same conditions and you start freezing to death. One last thing, if you wear waterproof shoes in the summer (which is certainly fine), since they are extremely well put together to repel water, they also heat up your feet and the soles of your feet in particular and make walking in them rather intolerable since your feet begin heating up.
Well, I had a weak moment [bought some $hit I don't need ] like a rifle rack for an M 38 A 1 and a box to hold the wiring for an M 100 trailer. St Jude's hopefully will appreciate my small gift
Norm, Yours looks a whole lot better than my Frito pie
My problem [actually one of my many problems] is I go crazy over accessories The more esoteric the better. I actually own a kit that allows a 30-40 Krag rifle to practice target shooting with 22 cal and a canvas dust cover that ties over the bolt of a 30-40 Krag
Like I REALLY need this stuff
BTW Norm, I've really don't know as a fact but I've been told those baby carrots really aren't carrots but sort of ground carrots glued together kinda like Turkey roll

Say what? Are you kidding me? Did you really hear this? Now, I have to look this up. I guess like chicken nuggets are just slop swept from the floors and glued together?
This time of year can be depressing for me. I receive Statement of Changes in Beneficial Ownership - Form 4 emails from the companies where I own stock. I bought myself two pair of waterproof golf shoes. These guys (CEO, CFO, COO, etc.) dispose of (sell) stock valued @ $100K+ - $200K+ while retaining Securities (stocks/shares) still beneficially owned @ $5M - $20M each person. It's families like these which bring such tears of joy to my eyes (PHUQUERS).

Norm - Along the lines of the above. Back in the fall, I got a letter from my brokerage firm, Raymond James, letting me know that as of 1 January 2022, they were raising their administrative fees for all accounts totalling <$200K, accounts >$200K would not be affected. I called my broker (who was also my Mom's broker) who I really like and said to her, hey, aren't you guys going at this *** backwards, it's the BIG GUYS that can afford to pay a little more in fees. Of course she said, I'm so sorry but there's nothing I can do about it, it's corporate policy. I say, PHUQUERS!!!!
Did okay at work. Plant Maintenance came at 1 to recalibrate the robots so we went home. As soon as I took care of Tiger, I hit the road for Locust Grove. Not far, but traffic was a nightmare. I did have the forethought to take surface roads down there. A Christmas card came to my house that was for the original people. I guess whoever sent it hasn't updated their list in a while(they last lived there in 05) so when I looked the name up on the tax rolls I saw they were close so I just took it to them. They weren't home, which was okay. But the ride back was horrendous. I thought the expressway would be okay, it was not. But I wanted to stop at Walmart so I braved it. Got home around 5 so I was still on schedule.
Got everything done I needed to before my trip except the spark plugs in the dogmobile. So I'll take the pickup. I'd love to take the Suburban, but I haven't quite proven it to myself yet. A few trips to work and back should be okay, although I did drive it home over an hour when I bought it.
Jamesbo I go in to the tag office with all my paperwork. I usually have 6 or 7 including all the trailers. That way I can keep an eye on what they are doing and correct anything they mess up right there.
Well work at 4 tomorrow for sure. We are working 4 to 12 and when we are done we go home. Everyone thinks we will be done by 6. HAHA I say. Those clowns will drag the simplest thing out, we'll be lucky to be gone by 11. Anyway, when I get home I'll have to go get the truck and then get everything ready. If I get things ready tonight Tiger will think I'm leaving right then without him and he'll have a fit all night.
Okay off to bed. Hope everyone has a good evening.
Question for the informed. When a wheel/tire with a split ring/safety ring doesn't have any air in it, is it still dangerous? I have several to get apart and wonder what I should do with them. I guess find a truck shop that will mess with them. I have no idea how they go together or come apart.
Mike - I don't believe the rings are dangerous after the air has been removed. Once the air has been removed, you could certainly tie rope or chains around the tire from inside out to aid in eliminating any possibility of injury in case a ring flew out from retention. You're not talking about the locking split ring types, correct? YouTube is your friend.
Now that you mention it, I don't know what I'm talking about. I assumed there was only one type of safety ring for wheels, but this isn't a commercial vehicle, it's a camping trailer. I guess they all did stuff like this back in the 40s. I suppose I could take one somewhere and just ask. They shouldn't get all nutted up just looking at it.
We are going home early tomorrow, at least we are leaving by noon. When we are done we are leaving, no matter what time. Today was something that was just sprung on us this morning. It was going to take them an hour or better to recalibrate the robots, and that would have gone past our regular going home time. So we left when Plant Maintenance got there. Why they couldn't wait for us to leave, since they stick around longer, is anybody's guess.
Okay stayed up too late looking at stupid $hit on the internet again. Gonna hit the sack. Big day tomorrow that starts early. Have a good night everyone.
The idea, I believe, behind the split rim was to be able to load a tire onto the wheel without going over a bead as old tires weren't that flexible that big. The danger is when they are being initially inflated after mounting. Inflated correctly, they are as safe as any other. Flat, but previously aired up, they should be also safe to inflate, but it's seating the split rim on the wheel and the bead that is a problem. This is why they have cages, like your shop does. I believe, once deflated, like Norm said, no issue. I think, to disassemble, one prybars the split rim up and over the wheel rim, and then the tire lifts off.
It's all about energy. Deflate, and the only energy is you hauling on it. Be careful, and it should be fine. I would not reinflate them myself, nor recommend you do it.
Looks like I'm gonna have to move my Jerry can to the side when the cable box arrives
I bought some angle iron for the box bracket and my plan is to weld it to the tub. I saw on line where someone welded 2 short pieces to the frame to stiffen the Jerry can holder. That's my plan also
Beautiful day today, especially for the end of December. It got up to 64°, with mostly sunshine. I took advantage of the nice weather to get all three toys out and give them a little exercise, driving both motorcycles and the 4-4-2 around the neighborhood multiple times. After looking at my calendar it was hard to believe it was already over a month since any of them had been started.
So far, my wife and I are both feeling fine, no symptoms and no fever. We will both take a rapid test before we go to my youngest daughter's house tomorrow, hopefully we'll both test negative and be able to go.
