Don,

Just across the boarder from Memphis, TN. A little place called Olive Branch MS. The name of the city in 1840 was Cowpens. It then changed its name to Watson's Crossing in 1842. Then later to Olive Branch.

I live just 15 miles from the "Real Cowpens"

You can go 10 or 15 miles to the big city!

Evening all!

Did ya miss me all weekend, lol! From pig knuckles to funny named towns..... this thread do cover alot of ground!! I wouldn't eat pig knuckles, but I do like collard greens.

I have to tell ya...... the peaches are absolutely delicious!!!! Sweet, juicy, soft, the flavor is wonderful!!! The fruit just pulls away from the seed. Or I suppose it's called a pit down there? Whatever. I've never has such a delicious peach in my life!! God I'd love to be able to get these things any time I wanted!! Larry had on and he likes them too. I've eaten 2 of them so far.

So how long does peach season last?

Spent my weekend at car shows. It was a hot beautiful weekend with just a little humidity! My kind of weather!! 95 degrees yesterday, 94 today! Yesterday was the Solon Charity show benefiting coats and shoes for kids. There were hundreds of cars there. I took 70 some pics, but won't be able to post them all, lol. It was a long day. I got there before 1:00, and got home just before 9 pm. I did manage to sit under a little scrubby tree, so the shade was nice. It was hot!!

I won 2 tickets to the Piston Power show at the IX center. I won't go, but I'm sure I can give the tickets to someone who will. I would have rather won the 50/50 raffle - it got up to $3500.00!! I coulda used $1750.00 lol! There were a ton of people at that show. Of course most of the cars picked that won, and prizes given out, were members of the Rock N Roll Capital Street Machine club. That's why a lot of people don't like to go to the Solon cruise in much. It's pretty much a clique thing there.

Today was the Streetsboro Family Days show. Didn't win anything there. About 80 or so cars. Nice show. Got home around 5:00 and took a nice cool shower, lol! Sat out on the deck on my swing and read awhile. We had steaks and taters on the grill. I love sweet taters!!

Glad ya got the brakes fixed, Adrian!

Scot... glad all went well. Our schools will be starting soon. The stores are loaded with supplies! I kinda miss it...

Got to get the pics loaded onto photobucket, so I reckon I'll talk to ya tomorrow! Can't believe the weekend is gone already. Really can't believe tomorrow is August already! Have a good night!

Mawn'in all

Hot, hot ,hot all week de say

Now fer a little Peach termanology lesson.

Peaches 101

Sandy, whatcha got there is known as a "Freestone Peach" de utter kind is callled a "Clingstone peach" thar may also be a semi "Clingstone " or semi Freestone" depend'in on your point of view.

Obviously de "Freestone " is de kind dat de flesh alls right off de peach pit [seed]

See if Scot got any satsumas down his way. De're really yummy.
Kinda an easy peel'in orangey thng-a-ma-jig.

Don't know if any ya'll read or subscribe to Dr.Andrew Weil train of thought concerning vitamin/food/ health. I find him an interesting read.

My dear ole dad ate a can or sardines every and I mean EVERY Sunday nite with sum sodie crackers. Accord'in to Dr. Weil, it's one of the heathiest things ya can eat. So I took up de family tradition.

Ever made a dip with sardines and onions. yummy

Hope it not too early fer sardines conversation.

GTG It's Monday and whitey calls to get smacked 'round.

My Daddy did the same! ....and I followed suite! When I take that little can out of the larder, and start to "unroll" the lid, my TW almost gags! She can't be in the same room as I chomp these little fishies ! I too eat the saltines with the krill and also the sweet onions (Gawga, Texas, or Florida) depending on season.

I like 'em in oil, in water, in mustard sauce, and never eat 'em cold. The TW says I'm eating whale food!

I hope everyone has had breakfast..... Good Morning all.

Good Monday Morning All!

Well here comes the middle of the dawg days of summer. Hot, Hot and Hotter.

I'm glad you are enjoying the peaches Sandy. Those are Fire Prince and are a freestone variety. The peach season lasts well into late August, so if you want more let me know.

The kids made it to school okay and neither one was nervous at all. These girls are confident I tell ya.

I hope everyone has a great week and a safe Monday!

Morning All!

A little on the cloudy side here this morning, but still some sun out there. We might get some rain this morning they're saying. Headin to the 90's!

Another beautiful Olds on the calendar today! I don't want it to be August already.

Thanks for the peach info, Jamesbo! Much nicer to talk about than those nasty smelly gross sardines, lol! Larry eats those things. YUCK! Hope you golf well today!

Scot..... so the kids are back in school, huh? I used to take those 1st day of school pics every year! I thought I'd be glad when Nicole got out of school and I didn't have to go through all that stuff every year, but I find I really miss it. I sure wish she'd have gone on to college or something, but who knows down the road.... gotta let her make her mistakes and hopefully learn from them. I know I learned the hard way, and she's a lot like me at that age. Oh Lord........

I am REALLY enjoying the peaches, lol!!! My God are they good! I brought a couple to work this morning and put in the fridge. I never had a peach that the fruit came away from the seed, lol!

Clay is back today, so it's noiser in here this morning. I like it, lol! I have Brian finally talked in to taking his 85 Rustang GT over to a Rustang show at Summit Racing this next weekend. I keep after him to bring it to some of the shows, but he doesn't. He's been detailing the engine and such since last week to get her ready. He's the type that if people aren't oohing and aahing over his car, his feelings get hurt. I told him he needs to get a thick skin. People may not glance at his, but oogle the one next to it, and he can't get upset about it. That's just how it is. So I'm anxious to see how it goes for him. He's pumped up and I'm glad!

Well have a great day all!

Good morning guys and Sandy

nice and sunny this morning. Lots of work to do in the next couple of days. 18 months to retirement and counting. Looks like the better half and I will be moving south after I retire, most likely Texas somewhere in Ellis County. Been of the internet looking for acreage with a nice house and a large shop. We'll see what happens as time goes on.

Have a great day all

Good afternoon all,

I met some car people for breakfast today. Good conversation and food. In the parking lot after breakfast, I thought I recognized someone walking to a truck, but wasn't sure. As the truck drove by the Delta, the person yelled "I remember that car". It was the son of the painter whose shop I took the Delta to.

Hope to get more work done on the Cutlass later today.

Have a good day everyone.

Very cool. She'll remember that the rest of her life. I built a tree fort and clamped it in for my boys when they were younger. Took it down two years ago as they were not using it anymore...they call it growing up.

Well, I've got some great news... The post office and the other job both called me yesterday for further interviewing. I've got my fingers crossed.

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Good Morning Everyone

Good Tuesday mornin' everyone!

Hope everyone is in fine fettle and bright eyed!

What's a "fettle?"

The forecast for the beautiful Thermal Belt is 0% chance of precipitation and one degree short of the all time high temp - 100 deg. But tomorrow we should hit 100 deg.(but we won't set a record - that was set in 1999!

Not gonna be a very good day to go driving in "Blue Belle" without an AC!

In 1965 my wife was driving a Delmont 88 with a Mark IIII add on AC. It worked pretty good.

Keep cool Jamesbo while hunting for those lost ***** in the woods!

Morning All!

Hot and sticky here also. We're to get storms later this evening and tonight - calling for the winds to be severe overnight. Just "peachy", lol. We had rain here in Twinsburg yesterday afternoon, but didn't look like we got any at home. My one hibiscus was knocked over and laying on the deck, though. Tree limbs in the yard. Don't know if we just got the winds? I know the rain made it stickier out there. Yuck! Tomorrow is only supposed to be in the 70's..... I'm gonna freeze after all this heat!

Nicole came by and had lunch with me yesterday after she got off work at noon. She smells all like dog and is usually covered with mud. All scratched up too. But she's liking it, so that's what counts! She got paid her first check yesterday..... the lady is not taking taxes out. Matter of fact it was a personal check she got. I hate to say anything to her or she'll be wanting to quit already. She didn't fill out an application for the job or anything either, she said. There was an ad in the paper she answered. It's not like she's making a whole lot of money, but I hate to see her paying taxes in January! We'll see how it goes, I guess. The lady has to file taxes too so you would think she knows what she's doing, lol. The place has been there for years.

Adrian..... That is just too cool!! I bet Min does love it, huh?? I love the ceiling, lol! Tell her I like her garden and we'll have to see pics of her plants as they grow!

Scot...... GREAT news about the jobs! I'm soooo happy for you! Do ya think if you get the post office job, that you can get a discount on mailing out peaches, lol!
I'm down to 5 of them already. I truly hope you get one of the jobs!!!!!!

Jamesbo..... I loved my easy bake oven. But you're right..... the stuff didn't taste real good, lol! Baked with a light bulb!

Well you all have a great day!!!

Good morning guys and Sandy

Another day in paradise, sunny and warm but here I am stuck in my office.

Scott fingers are crossed on the job hunt good luck.

Jamsbo don't ca know beer makes you smarter and play better, kills off all those non-used brain cells and makes more room for the smarter ones

Sandy, watch out for that kind on employer, most likely not paying into unemployment, social security, or the sate industrial insurance program either. No protection for your daughter. We call it "paying under the table".

Thanks Pat, Sandy and Clint for the encouraging words, I hope I land one of them.

Sandy, Nicole's boss payed her with a personal check so that she has a record of it and will probably give Nicole a 1099 for what she paid her. IIRC she only has to file if she makes over $500 for the year, but if she sticks with it she should make that in no time. So she should probably put up 35% of each check to cover her rear because she will more than likely have to file like a sub-contractor does.

Jamesbo here is one that is close to my Granny's recipe, I'm not sure if Wayne (father-in-law) has a recipe
HOMEMADE PEACH ICE CREAM 4 c. peaches, chopped
1 c. sugar

Pour 1 cup sugar over peaches and let set for a while.
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 eggs, beaten
1 qt. milk
1/2 pt. whipping cream (unwhipped)
1 tbsp. vanilla

Combine sugar, flour and salt, add eggs. Blend well. Cook slowly until slightly thickened. Let cool, add unwhipped cream, vanilla, milk, and peaches. Pour into ice cream freezer and freeze. Makes 1 gallon.

Yummy

LOL!!!!! Now that's funny right there! Well I hope you get one of the jobs, Scot. That ice cream sounds yummy..... except for the raw egg part! Now I'm gonna be looking on ice cream cartons to see if they have eggs in them? I didn't know ice cream had eggs..... I'm not a big ice cream eater, but Larry sure is. It shows too, lol!

Good Wednesday Morning All!

Going to be another scorcher today with an actual high of 101 Looks like the only relief in sight is Tropical storm Emily forming in the Caribbean heading my way.

My TW pulls the skin off of her chicken, I'm glad though 'cause she gives it to me.

Thanks Adrian and all for wishing me good luck. I go today for the re-interview.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Mawn'in all

Yep anutter hot dry one

Adrian, Why not back Mini up againist a door jamb in her club house and mark her height and de date on the wall with a pencil. Dat's what my parent's did with thar chill'en. They'd measure about one/twice a year. Saves her vertical progress for posterity.

Scot, Tanks fer de recipe[s] Are de pay'in you by de hour fer all these interview? Good luck my friend. I gazed into my crystal ball and things look good fer ya.

I picked sum pimentos from de garden las nite. Gonna roast them up and make me sum sho nuff pimento cheese. [I'm only do'in it to show up Pat who cuts his own meat and probably grinds his own flower. ]

Back to skins. Thar is nutt'in better than pig skins pulled off a slow cook hog with a cup of coffee in de mawn'in after ya cooked de sucker all nite.

Wish I had sum now insted of dis bagle with nova, cream cheese and lemon.

Morning All!

Very tropical outside here this morning. Humidity is awful. It's cloudy and we had rain overnight. Don't know if we'll see the sun today or not.

I'm sure ya already knew that I was gonna say..... I take the skin off my chicken! It's gross and disgusting, lol. And bad for you!!!!! I also trim fat off my steak and poke and whatever. I do not like chewy yucky fat!!! There's always a pile on my plate when I'm eatin steak or whatever. Sometimes I even pick it out of lunch meat slices if there are big streaks of it in the meat! Yuck...yuck..yuck.

I still don't get the eggs in the ice cream thing??

Adrian.... That's a great idea Jamesbo gave ya for measuring Minnie!! She can look at it later in life and laugh, lol!

Scot.... Great news!! Good luck with this interview!!! I'll send positive thoughts!

Looks like I'm only gonna get 2 or 3 green peppers this year. They're just starting to come out of the flower on the plant now. Don't know why the others aren't blooming. This one seems late to me, so maybe they will come out yet. I think they had too much rain!!! Sometimes too much water is as bad as not enough water. I dunno. I'm sure hoping for more beans next year.

Nicole is coming here for lunch again today. I brought us leftover sketti and garlic toast.

Ok... question for ya. When I was in the dentist office last night, we were talking cars with a guy who was there from the CVCC about a show they're having in Oct., and he mentioned his friends have a 1951 Olds that they chopped the top, and did all sorts of things too, and he called it something, but I can't remember what? I want to say it started with a PH or a PH sound??? Anyone know what it is? I'd like to look it up. He said it's worth like a million dollars or something?

Have a great day all!

Sandy, I think it's call F........ Up

We used to call it "Chopped and Channeled" i.e. top lowered/body lowered.
IMHO, It looks like poop on a white rabbit.

Speak'in of fat.

If ya takes sum steak fat [Sandy must have piles of it.] Render it, toss in sum garlic salt and onion salt, Ya got yourself sum wondeful steak paint. When de steak comes off de grill brush sum on fer a Wonderful diff.

Smile The Most Beautiful Car

Found a catalog picture of my 1965 Oldsmobile 98 "Luxury Sedan"

In my opinion, this was one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

Mine was the same gold and black vinyl top. The prettiest car, but I only had it for 6 months! The thing ate starters! Had 6 starters in 6 months and the dealer took it back and I took a medium blue and black off his lot. Brand new. NO Cost!

They found out the car had a warped ring gear.

What great cars on the road. 127" wheelbase. 18'-7" long!

Good Day All, Been some time since I've been on here. Been giving my doctor lots of business lately having dozens tests done. I've been having chest and back pains for the last couple of months and I'm tired all the time. So far every test is coming back negative. My wife says I can't even get sick right.
Glad to see all is well here.
Sandy, congrads on all the trophys and awards.
Scot, Good luck on your interviews. I will also cross my fingers for you.
Well, I guess I'll call it a day on here. Getting tired again.
Have a great day all.

Hey Bulldog! Glad you're back. Don't ya hate it when tests show nothing?? They always look at ya like you're imagining things, lol. I tell them "believe me, if something wasn't wrong, I wouldn't be here, cause I don't like doctors and co-pays!" Have they done extensive blood tests to rule out mono, hepatitis, thyroid problems, etc... ?? Let us know what's going on, and take it easy!!

Jamesbo.... I would think you'd cut the meat with the grain, but I'm not a butcher either, lol. Did ya Google it yet??
