Once in a while she mentions Hawaii and seems genuinely sad that she hasn't been. It would be an arduous trip for her, but we could figure it out. She'd probably complain the whole time but when she got home I think she'd really appreciate it. My friends in Australia won't like it, maybe I could go a few months later.
Mike - I was in the process of typing out a very detailed response to you as to why I would recommend a trip to Hawaii for anyone who appreciates natural beauty or military history. Then my SIL called to report on Gabe's game today so I tried to take the call, but in the process I lost everything in my message. I will PM you later with my thoughts and experiences.

Dawn finally tested negative for Covid this morning and I thought I'd be going to Gabe's game today. To be safe, I then tested and now I tested positive. Sheesh, one step forward and 2-steps back? I tested negative initially when I first started feeling out of sorts this past Tuesday, but I may have tested too early and the viral load was not high enough at that point for me to be high enough and I may have had Covid the entire time??? Anyway, I'm testing positive now, and it's keeping me from getting to see the boy's games and it's really bumming me out! Gabe had an outstanding game last night with 3 goals in a 4-3 loss, and another good game at noon today with another goal and and an assist in a 3-2 loss. I hate to see that his team is losing, but glad to see he's continuing to play lights out doing everything he can!

Chris - COVID-19 home test kits aren't all created equal & they are not extremely sensitive - tests can yield false negatives for a variety of reasons even w/ a substantial SARS-CoV-2 load.

Ya, I know they can't be completely relied upon, even with multiple tests. Ya do the best ya can do with what ya got.

Thermometer complete piece of garbage. Not a single glass-style thermometer in the CVS store. Thermometer supposed to buzz/beep - did not buzz/beep. Temperature too low (Lo) to measure. Remove battery, reload battery. Case is a POS. Everything has to be a digital device, piece of plastic junk. Ordered a real glass thermometer made in Germany. I get really disgusted w/ products - very, very disgusted. 😡🤬👿😠😡😤

Well.that sucks! I bought the cheapest ($5) digital they had at Dollar General when Dawn first got sick and it's doing just fine. It's probably accurate within at least +/- 5°F.

+/- 5°F...now, that's funny. I bought the El Cheapo, as well (CVS). Garbage.

Did ya like that? It was intended as a joke. Package said accurate to within +/- .2°.

Boy the NFL Wild Card games this weekend have all been dandies so far, all decided by less than 1 score. The Chargers/Patriots game is going along the same line right now, 6-3 Patriots at halftime.

Norm - I know you'll appreciate this Stat. I did some math this afternoon and figured out Gabe has scored 12 of his team's 19 goals over their last 5 games. He's on a real tear!

Gabe has scored exactly 2/3 of all goals. What a guy. Lot's to be thankful for.

Did an R&R on my two indoor HVAC filters. I looked at my COVID-19 antigen self-tests on the shelf in my office. I have x3 manufacturers: BOSON, iHealth & BinaxNOW (Abbot) - dates ranging from 2022 to 2023. I think I have nine total. At one time I had ~24 tests. I tossed 15 of them. I was over 65 yrs. of age when COVID-19 hit so SSA (Medicare) were sending them out like hotcakes. I have to speak at the Public Hearing for rezoning request for this development tomorrow night.

Wow Norm, you sure had a stockpile of the free tests at one time. We probably had around 10 at the most when they were sending out the free ones. We just had to buy another 5-pack after this latest go-round.

I had meant to ask you but kept forgetting, who were you rooting for in that Bears/Packers game? We're you torn?

Rooting for Packers as I always do. You're correct - it was a game of two halves. Chicago deserved the win especially at home & in particular overcoming a 1st half dominated Packers team.

I was rooting for the Bears, only because I like to see some new blood in the mix, especially when it's a team like the Bears that have been in the doldrums for so long. There's no way I would have given them a chance in hell of coming back in the 2nd half but somehow they pulled it off.

Love the Valiant. The owner is correct, for 1960 only "Valiant" was the make, and a number, such as 100, 200, etc. was the model. I have a 60 4 door. I don't recall any other script on the car other than Valiant. Mine is also a 3 speed.

What's the difference between an oral and a rectal thermometer? The taste.

I've been to Hawaii twice. The first time, in 1995, I went to see a friend of mine who had moved there. He was a school teacher and lived on Lihue. That's a small place. I hadn't seen this guy in years, and it became evident rather quickly why we had grown apart. The second time, my plane to Australia diverted after a passenger got sick. After we landed they cancelled the flight. So I spent the day on Waikiki beach with a couple other people and then hopped a plane back to Atlanta. Never did make Australia. Chris I'd love to hear your stories and comments on Hawaii.

Mom goes to the doctor at 930 in the morning. Then I don't know what. Gonna be nice next week, but cold.

Okay have a good night everyone.

Hi everyone.

Got up early and took Mom to the doctor. Hope she doesn't get used to these morning appointments, I'm losing my Mondays off here in a few weeks.

George Burns once said he had sex almost every day of the week. Almost on Monday, almost on Tuesday...

Sunny here but cold. Gonna be like this all week. I'm gonna go work over at the shop a little I need to cut down some small trees and weeds to find more parking. One thing about winter is once I cut stuff down, it stays that way. And no bugs.

Hope the week starts out good for everyone.

Dropped a check off at the roofing company this morning. Weather permitting start date is February 9th. Caveat to weather permitting means temp. has to be >45°F (to facilitate adhesive). Public hearing to rezone to accommodate development r property @ 6pm.

Looking forward to watching at least part of what should be both a good, and historic hockey game tonight in Detroit. Two first place teams in their respective divisions are facing off, the Red Wings vs. the Hurricanes. What's historic about it is the Red Wings are retiring former star and NHL Hall of Famer Sergei Federov's number. Sergei, along with fellow Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman, led the Red Wings to 3 Stanley Cup Championships in '97, '98', and '02. What a duo they were!

Yes, that's the one I was eluding to. I think she still denies to this day that they were ever legally married?

I hope he gave her a proper pounding!!

Thought maybe you might have been referring to his departure to the Anaheim Ducks which pissed off the guy(s) who helped him defect (Ilitch & Lites?). I never gave that one much thought except I recall at the time thinking - dude, you took a lesser paying job for a lesser known team - exactly why did you do that? I noted he later thought his decision was stupid.

I always enjoyed watching that little sweet tart, Anna, on the tennis court. I would have liked to give her a squirt. Not really sure why that supposed marriage happened anyways? She feel she had to be married to phuque him? Makes no sense, but she was rather dumb.

Oh, he did? Interesting. Honestly, I think he felt "trapped" during the time he defected - kind of like a rat in a cage (maze). Likely having a very difficult time deciding which was the correct decision. I mean, the guy defected from Russia, he's in the USA, tons of pressure on him.

Not trying to rub in the cable TV thing but I've now changed the channel to the Steelers/Texans game. The Red Wings were dominating the Hurricanes 3-0 mid-way thru the 2nd. I was able to start the football game from the beginning because I recorded it.

I locked in my commitment to going to Holland, MI for Gabe's tournament in February by booking my hotel room this afternoon for the nights of 13th - 15th. He will have games on the 14th, 15th, and 16th, with 2 on either the 14th or 15th. The official schedule has not been released and probably won't be for a couple weeks yet.

I'm following the scores that's about it, though. I like Holland, MI. I think I've mentioned I've been to/through Holland many times and a friend from grad school is from Holland. A very unique environmental natural habitat (niche), as well.
