Looks delicious. I cook casseroles in glass as you did, but I use a baking sheet covered in parchment paper or aluminum foil. Discard the paper/foil - cleanup done.
My Mom's Potato Salad was the best I ever had. I could probably come close to it by memory. Her's was heavy on the diced hard boiled egg, diced onion and celery, Miracle Whip and a little French's Mustard.
Sounds like the one my mom always made also. I make it all the time.
Here is the recipe.
2 pounds potatoes
2 stalks of celery
1 small sweet onion
1-1/4 cups mayonnaise
1 T vinegar
2 tsp Yellow mustard
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
6 hard boiled eggs

1965CutlassGuy - Thank you so much for taking the time to write all that out and pass it along. That sure looks like the same recipe my Mom used, I really appreciate it! 👍
Pretty chilly this morning, 39° right now with 20mph winds and a windchill temp ot 29°. Some wet snow in the forecast for Saturday morning but I don't think there's suppossed to be much accumulation.
No big plans for today. I'll probably get my butt off the couch and catch up on a few bills and business matters here in a little while. Hope everyone has a great day! 😃
Nice day here, a bit chilly. I think the warm weather has finally exited for awhile. Well, I'll just have to put on my big boy pants and work outside in the cold. I'll just pretend it's midnight shift at work.
So yesterday the lead made a big deal about no one in maintenance was going to be allowed to go home early today. This morning he made a big deal about, what happens in the shop stays in the shop. He said we would be leaving around noon, but don't let that get out. Well I walked down the hall a couple times and people were leaving all morning. Unnecessary drama. We did indeed leave before noon, and I hit the Awful house. My friends weren't there so I didn't stay too long.
Gonna take a page from Chris' book and pay a couple bills and mail them on the way to Mom's. I really need to make the next few days count. Five days off from work and nice weather, perfect for getting chores done. Well, we know me...
Hey Jamesbo, do you think the small military trailers that the Jeeps pull would go up and down the rough hill I'm wanting to traverse? I think I'm gonna have to build some sort of fence at the bottom of the hill to mark my territory, as it were. So I'd need to bring supplies, lumber, etc down to the bottom. Of course anything I got would have to. Maybe I could just drive the Deuce down there, and crash through all the trees. He has a winch on the front and could pull himself up.
I need to get off the internet and get to work. But it's fun looking at trucks and whatnot. My deadline is in about an hour, because I have to get my bills mailed by 5 so they go out tonight. Okay it's not fun, I've been at this far too long.

Mike - I hope you didn't copy the page from my book too closely, because it didn't go well. Before I even got to address any bills, I started looking at 2 recent Explanation of Benefits statements from our health insurance, one for Dawn's Annual Physical and one for my Hip Evaluation. I won't bore you with the details, but they were both screwed up. I got one straighted out, but the other will have to wait until Monday because our Doctor's Office was already closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday. I never got to paying any bills!
Dawn always bakes a Pumpkin Pie for Thanksgiving and I'm glad she does because her's is truly the best I've ever had. I may not be getting one this year, she just sent me this picture w/caption!
Actually my bill paying went pretty well. Although I didn't have any stamps so I had to get some when I went to the post office. Got there in plenty of time. I never know if the post office has people that work Sundays and holidays and we just don't get home delivery, or if the whole kit and kaboodle is shut down. They're so slow sometimes how can you tell.
Wanted to watch a movie with Mom tonight but I was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open. So I came home. But now I'm wide awake. Sheesh. Eh, I won't stay up too long. Want a good start in the morning to get started on my 5 days worth of chores. Really I have years worth of chores but only have 5 days to get them done.
Happy Turkey day Olds friends, Safe travels and remember what my mother [ Nanelle} always said, "It's not what you eat between Thanksgiving and New Years day, it's what you eat between New Years day and Thanksgiving"
Only about 2", if that here Dan. Might be getting more.
Chris I don't really understand the "explanation of benefits" statements I get. We don't even have Blue Cross/ Blue Shield any more though we get statements from them all the time. Also those statements from Medicare "Expenses you may have to pay" (or similar) are never right. I ignore but keep all those stmts until I get a actual bill from a office or Doctor, etc. Then I pay attention- but lately I have gotten refund checks cuz I paid too soon??!! So I usually call the billing office and make sure bill is still due. And Yes, I have had them tell me not to pay a bill I just received!! It seems like a mess.
And... HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you all!!! We had no plans as Linda just had her 2nd surgery on her left ear the 25th. She is doing well with it but doesn't want to go anywhere, so neighbors are making dishes for us of their feast! What great friends we have!! We have a lot to be thankful for!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all my CO Good Morning friends. In line with Jim's words of wisdom, you guys bring great advice, companionship, and great joy into my life throughout the whole year and I'm very thankful for all of you!
Greg, I'm so glad to hear Linda is doing well, her medical condition sounded scary to say the least! 👍
Hope everyone has a wonderful day whatever your plans may be today. We went over and spent a little time with Blaire, Justin, Gabe, and Keegan last night. Dawn always cooks Blaire a Sweet Potato Casserole to serve at her Thanksgiving because she knows Blaire loves it, and she cooked Gabe a Pumpkin Pie because it's his favorite. Even though it will just be Dawn and I here today, Dawn is cooking a complete traditional Thanksgiving meal, Roast Turkey w/stuffing, mashed potatoes and turkey gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs, yeast rolls, and pumpkin pie. 😋 I'm very thankful she's such a wonderful cook. To put a cherry on top of the day, my Lions play against the Packers, and the Chiefs play against the Cowboys. 😃
The large family who I purchased my home from have invited me each year (24 yrs) to their annual Thanksgiving dinner. I just returned home well satiated.

That's awful nice of them! Glad you got a nice dinner Norm. 👍
Been a busy, busy day here in the Greater Stockbridge Area. Got up early, got some laundry done, started to replace my bathroom faucet but I need new lines from the valve to the faucet so that's tomorrow. Cleaned house a little. Went to Mom's and fixed a leak in the roof. Then went up on the garage with the leaf blower and removed 3+ years of pine needle accumulation. Didn't even fall off.
Neither Mom nor I really like turkey, so we got Sonny's ribs and that was our Thanksgiving feast. Also while I was busy on the roof(s) Mom made an apple pie and a pumpkin pie. Scrumptious!
Sounds like everyone had a nice day. I'm surely thankful for knowing all you guys, even if I haven't actually met some of you. My only hope is that tomorrow is as much of a success as today was. Cool temps? Bah! The sun was out. Supposed to be nice all weekend.
Okay I'm gonna hit the sack. I stiffened up from jumping around on the roof. Don't think I'll get up quite as early tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good evening.
I also am thankful for you guys- sounds gushy and all... but really, I enjoy chatting with you in the morning! Feels like I know ya!
Linda is doing really well but can't hear ****! The first ear (right) hasn't healed completely and she couldn't hear well from that one. Now the left ear has been done and can't hear well out of it either. We go back to see the DR. on the 10th of Dec. We think it is just swelling and such and hearing will come back.
I don't remember where I left off with you guys about Frank. Last week he was home after being sent to Midland Hospital to recover from C-diff. He had a different type of abdominal pain and went back to Gladwin Hosp. They thought then he had a type of stone in his "plumbing"- gall stone?? So he stayed there until they took him down to Henry Ford Hosp in Detroit by ambulance. There I think they found a soft blockage- not sure.. well anyway he is back home and I plan to go see him today if I can.
Neighbors ended up being alone for their Thanksgiving feast, they had invited us over but Linda didn't feel like going- so they made 2 dinners out of it, and I went over and picked up "our" dinner and Linda and I ate a great feast at home.
Slept in this morning, although I stayed up really late last night watching all sorts of things on the World Wide Web. Chilly outdoors ~39°F - 40°F but very sunny, not a cloud in the sky, windchill ~32°F - 33°F. Too cold for golf, today. As I was opening the drapes in the house I was overcome w/ this feeling of my youth. Several of us (my H.S. friends) taking the old Milwaukee Road (name) rail train from Elgin, Illinois> Union Station, Chicago, Illinois then walking to J.C.Whitney (The Warshawsky Company) @ State St. & Archer the day after Thanksgiving. We did this each year for at least two years I remember.
Mike - Glad to hear of your successful trip to the roof.
Greg - A surgeon I sorta worked w/ took out my gall bladder (cholecystectomy) I think it was 1996 after suffering from gall stones for too many years. Boy Howdy what a relief.
I do not look forward to the increasing commercialization of the holidays. I try to avoid it like the plague.
Sunny and cold as a mother. Okay this game was fun lets get back to warm. Good thing I'm working outside today. Sheesh.
Greg I feel for Linda. One time I had an infection in my left ear, and lost all hearing. If someone wasn't talking on my right side I just couldn't hear them. It was depressing. I had rather expensive speakers in my car and I could barely hear them, so I just drove around with the radio off. I still turn my head when someone is talking to me on the left side, even after medicine hearing in my left ear never fully came back.
Gonna chop up wood and do something with it today. Maybe take down a couple of small trees. I want to spend a lot of money and buy a fairly good size chipper/shredder, but it doesn't seem like anyone has them in-store. I don't want to order one online and not be here when it gets delivered. I have a medium size shredder that gave it up years ago, maybe I'll have a look and see if I can get it going. It's better than the chinesium Harbor Freight special. I need to look at that one as well. Geez do I have anything that's worth a damn?
Speaking of delivery I should get my tractor stuff today. That will end my day because I'll sit down and start reading the maintenance manual. Exciting stuff.
Okay day light is burning. Hope everyone has a good day.
Greg - Glad Linda is doing ok, and hopefully not in any pain, but sorry to hear about what is hopefully just temporary hearing loss. I hope you have a nice visit with Frank if you're able to make it over to his place.
Norm - Nice story about how you and your friends would take the train to Chicago to go to JC Whitney, it reminds me of a fond memory from my childhood. We had an older gentleman who lived kitty-corner across the street from us when I was little who was super nice. He was a Conductor for Grand Trunk Railroad. Every year he would give my parents complimentary tickets to ride the train to Chicago so my parents could go Christmas shopping. We would stay overnight and come back the next day. We all looked forward to that trip every year!
Got to get moving, Keegan has the start of his big Home Tournament today. He has games at 1:00, 2:45, and 5:45pm. I'm staying between the first two games but running home after the 2:45 game to get a quick bite to eat.
Good chance of snow overnight into tomorrow morning. I hope it's not too ugly because Keegan is supposed to have another game at 10:45 tomorrow morning.
Chris - That's cool about the Grand Trunk Railroad tickets from your neighborhood friend. I never new much of anything about the original Grand Trunk Railroad although I really enjoyed the band Grand Funk Railroad, who had to change their name from Grand Trunk Railroad to Grand Funk Railroad after a cease & desist order from Grand Trunk Railroad. Breakfast of Champions looks good.
