Chris good luck with the siding. When I had my roof put on I took the dogs to the kennel for the day. I never understood why dogs will still be scared when they see we are not scared. Although I was the same way with storms when I was little. No one was afraid of storms and I saw that, and I wondered, why aren't you afraid? Hm.
Norm I must have missed some epic tirade on why you don't have AC in the mancave. What about a ceiling fan? Swamp cooler? We have Big *** Fans in the hangar. They really work.
Got a couple errands to run and then I need to get my paint, then this afternoon I'll knock out the bathroom. It's been a long time coming. Like 20 years.
Chris - I like a contractor who communicates - especially a contractor who knows how to manage a crew. Happy to see you're moving in a forward direction. I can't imagine camping in that sweltering heat - nice the lodge has A/C. Time for my seamstress responsibilities.
Thanks Norm!

Thanks Mike! Dogs have already settled down which is nice. Good luck with the bathroom painting.
Mike - You’re correct about fans &/or swamp cooler, poor planning on my part. I have regular fans, but they don’t move air through/out of the building.
Based on a run to my bank & two grocery stores I've confirmed an additional 20hp, a reduction of 5mpg fuel consumption, brakes are more responsive, steering more responsive w/ better alignment characteristics & no wondering, & cooler A/C. Doubtful I'll post in the performance forum to be beaten to death.

Jim won't eat this salad. Why? Because I used Blue Cheese dressing then topped it w/ Mozzarella. Jim doesn't like a salad with Blue Cheese & any other cheese. He might eat the shrimps?

You're welcome! I'd scarf that salad down . . . In a heartbeat! 👍
No thanks. Supposed to be 90ish here tomorrow and Thursday, warmer inland, with the heat index around 100. Cleaned the Olds a bit, cleaned the tires and wheels, threw on some gunk to make the tires look black. used my California duster on the body, then grabbed the spray polish and had at it, then finally turtle wax chrome cleaner on the bumpers. Took about an hour and half. I'm bushed. Ate a brat, washed down with a bottle of body armour, now working on a glass of water.

Dan - Those temps ended up not being the highs for the day, ended up with a 97° actual temperature, and 115° Heat Index. Yikes! I think you're a faster detailer than I am. You got alot done in a very short period of time, I'm impressed! I bought some of the turtle wax chrome cleaner/wax for my chrome bumpers and was not impressed. It seemed difficult to get a mirror shine without streaks and I went back to Mother's despite it being almost double the cost. A much better result in my opinion. Big word of caution on the California Duster. I used one for a couple of years without issue. Then last year I was at a show where it was extremely hot and I was forced to park the car in all day sunshine. I went to dust off the car before the judges got to me and it started leaving wax streaks on the car body. The fibers in the California Dusters are impregnated with wax and if the car is hot enough they will make an absolute mess. I have since heard this same story from multiple owners. I realize this may seldom be an issue in your temps up there. I stopped using mine and bought an extendable handle Swiffer Duster wand to dust it before cleaning it, during shows, or before putting it away. I think it works much better, you don't have to worry about any residue, and the bulk replacement cloths are cheap enough where you can always keep it clean/fresh, JMO.
Huge amounts of rain. It rained a lot after I came in from mowing, then settled down, then started again when we started for home. Now it is pouring again. That will be it for anything outside tomorrow.
Got the bathroom painted. It looks nice. Got the color spot on. Tomorrow I'll put on a second coat and paint the trim. Then clean and the transformation will be done.
Watched a couple episodes of Graveyard Carz tonight. That Worman dude is an idiot, but as a closet MOPAR freak it's nice to see a Chrysler getting some love on TV. The first episode I saw tonight they were finishing up a 69 Barracuda and a 71 Demon. Whoa A Bodies. There may be hope for him yet.
Tiger goes to jail tomorrow. I need to clean up around Mom's house and be sure everything is the way it should be. I have this sneaking suspicion that she will be unhappy about something and my sister will bring her home while I'm in Ohio.
Brutal. Not only will your wallet get lighter but the electric grid will take a huge beating.
Last month's bill was my highest ever. I'm betting this month's will eclipse that. We must have a pretty solid electric grid here in the greater StL area because I don't remember a time when I've heard of a brownout/blackout due to the grid being overloaded. 🤞 We'd be in a world of hurt if we lost power for any length of time in these temps. The dogs would overheat in a hurry and we'd have to find someplace fast to take them.
Sun was out when I woke up but now it is cloudy and looks like rain. My plan is to vacuum out the car later on so I hope the rain goes somewhere else.
If power went out for any length of time Tiger would go to Mom's. We get our power from separate companies so the likelyhood of us both being out is minimal. If that were actually the case, I think we'd just sit in the car with the AC on.
Errands in a few minutes then Awful house. I think I'll just hang with Tiger for a couple hours before I take him to jail. I hate being without him. He doesn't have Flexsteel couches at the kennel, just concrete. They say he does well when he's there. I wonder who asks him.
Second coat of paint for the bathroom this evening. It's such a small room it won't take any time at all. The trim may have to wait for another day. I go back to work next week so it will be evenings only that I get to do anything, then go to get Mom on Friday.
Hump Day. I texted with a guy from work earlier, he texted me at 530 and I replied when I woke up at 8. Nice.

Great point Mike, in the car with the A/C on would be a great emergency solution. 👍
You know I'd forgotten about this. I owned my new house less than a year and lived in it only a couple months, when the main AC unit blew itself up. One of the fan blades developed a tear in it and it vibrated itself to death. The upstairs AC had a leak and had no freon. This was mid July and it got to the upper 80s in the house. No way Tiger could stay here so he stayed at Mom's for over a week until I could get both ACs replaced. Hm. That was only 9 grand. And then four months later in November I called the same guy out to service the AC at Mom's, and he took the top off the package unit outside and said holy cow you have several cracks in your heat exchanger. So that was the third AC. I said, you're a nice man but I hope I don't have to see you for awhile. He said really? Do you have any other houses? Funny. I do call him to service everything I'm lucky to have such a decent guy.

Norm, I'm well know cheese snob but you're right Id eat the shrimp Lately I've been [not on diet] living on home grown tomato toasted BLTs with blue chesses
Often times I'll make several open face toast, tomatoes, bacon + cheese sandwiches. Fire up the oven broiler just long enough for the cheese to get nice & gooey.

Those sound good Norm!
I know I've said this before, but hands down the best BLT's I've ever had come from Crown Candy Kitchen in St. Louis. There is 1lb of deep fried Bacon on each sandwich, with tomato, lettuce, and Mayo on toasted bread. I have finished 2 of them several times in one lunch, along with one of their 24oz signature Butterscotch Shakes. It doesn't get any better.
Chris - Those BLTs look delicious. Can you actually walk after a meal like that or you require a wheelchair?
Norm - I can still walk, barely, but I sure as hell won't eat anything else for quite awhile! Besides the fact that the BLT's are so great, part of the fun of going there is watching our waitress's eyes bug out when I finish off both of them!
Chris I knew that the dusters were impregnated with wax, and you may be right about the heat, as I haven't had the streaking problem that you had. I was thinking yesterday while using it, that it may be time for a new one, as I've had this one for twenty years. The can of Turtlewax chrome cleaner works fine for me, working out of a 40 year old can. bought it when I had my '66 GTO. Maybe I have the original formula or something. How the hell don't you weigh 300lbs with the way you eat?! Yes, I'm jealous.

Norm, stop it! Ribeye, taters, and garlic toast for me tonight

I have a lifetime supply of Ozempic! No, just joking! True answer, it's simple caloric math. First, I only eat one meal a day. You can eat alot at one meal and stay under 2,500 calories. 2nd, from all my weight lifting, I have a significantly higher percentage of muscle mass compared to the average person of my weight. This higher amount of muscle mass leads to a higher metabolism burning more calories throughout the day to keep those muscles working. 3rd, my workout schedule of 3 days of high intensity cardio, and 3 days of intense lifting per week maintains the muscle mass, and burns enough calories on my cardio days to often put me into a caloric deficit on any given day. Add to that, if I just cut out sweets, it is easy for me lose 3 to 5lbs per week. Trust me, I'm no workout Guru, and the older I get the tougher it gets, but at least I know what I have to do to maintain my weight, or lose weight if I want to.
Banner day in the Greater Stockbridge Area, and didn't do anything I had planned on. Well except for Awful house. I lollygagged around all morning then ran an errand and went to the Awful house. After that I didn't do a whole lot, I wanted to just sit with Tiger. He's not real affectionate but I never leave his sight. So we sat on the couch and had treats. Then I took him to jail and went over to Mom's to do the second coat of paint on the bathroom. I forgot a new roller and just as I was going out of the driveway to get one my neighbor the hot rodder called and said he'd help me with the convertible if I wanted. Heck ya. So I went to his house and we hooked up his trailer and we retrieved the convertible and took it to my house. This was no easy task. It sat since '19 with its parking brake on(duh) and the back wheels wouldn't turn. Besides that the brakes were non-existent. No problem, the neighbor hooked a chain to it and drug it back and while doing so freed up the back wheels. Also, it was in gear and it got the motor to turn. I've tried to tug on the belt, put a socket on the crank bolt, nothing, it was stuck from sitting. Got it up on the trailer, and got it off the trailer easy peasy. I was rather pleased. He said next week he'll come over with his forklift and we'll get it into the garage.
Got back to Mom's and swept up what had accumulated under the car, and went in and had an egg salad sandwich. Now I gotta get my $hit together and leave before the chickens tomorrow.
So Ohio tomorrow. I'll bring my computer with so I can regale you with stories of the high seas. Or, some funny little cars scooting around on a lake.
