Greg - Thanks for the great pics! I never get tired of seeing your truck. It looks like a super cool place to camp.

Certainly an unusual situation with Buddy and the cell phone alerts, poor little guy.

If there isn't rain I'll work on the Suburban and the van this afternoon. I like not having mowing to worry about. That will come about next week again.
Mike - Thanks for the compliment on the sitting room, I'll let my Interior Designer know, she'll appreciate it.

Good luck with your repairs on the Suburban and van. I've lost the bubble, what do they each need to be able to get them on the road?

No I cleaned up a fluid spill with alcohol and damaged some paint. The good news is the stickers on the top plate were 20 years old and peeling a little, so they will look better now. The car was restored 20 years ago, and Fred did a few upgrades. The interior from Legendary is as the name implies. The underside is very good. The engine compartment is exceptionally nice. But, it's a 20 year old lacquer paint job on the body, there are some heaves, and a few chips. I think the car could take on a large local show and win, but I don't think it would do well at MCACN and OCA Nats. It's been to both. Even more so, it took a first place in the 06 OCA Nats. I don't have the scoring sheet from that event, but, I will assume that the car competed in the junior class and would now have to compete in the senior class. I could lie, but I already have a trophy from the junior class, and they might track vins, so that's three reasons why it would have to be in senior class, and I think it would lose there due to imperfect paint. Keith Stockberger's place in Carmel, IN could probably touch up the paint in the 6 or 7 spots it needs.

I am not the world's best sprayer, so there's a couple spots on the core support that are not perfect, but I think it looks all right.

On a relevant note, do not use soapy water on Dr Decal stickers, they bubble through.

Norm - I watched almost all of these four teams 2nd Round games. I wouldn't count Dallas out since they dispatched Winnepeg, the team with the best Regular Season Record. Also, Dallas has the hottest player thru the playoffs so far, Mikko Ratenan, and their goalie Jake Oettinger has been spectacular. I think both series should be great ones. I think I'll be pulling for either Edmonton or Dallas to go all the way.

I haven’t had time to read or respond to much of anything as I’m neck high in a mountain of electrical BS on the Indian.

John - No kick start otherwise I’d be long gone. Closed loop CANBUS IGN system with BCM + EFI. It does have a dealer installed Indian add-on wiring upgrade installed when purchased new which was supposedly implemented to eliminate a supposed parasitic draw on these bikes. This add-on wires through a relay tied to the IGN I’m now learning as I read wiring schematics. Tracing wires and identifying wires currently. A labyrinth of spaghetti.

I think I have it narrowed down to either that relay they installed or possibly starter solenoid. Have to label/trace wiring to gain more understanding. Ugh!!!

The FEDEX pkg. is moving nicely through their network. It cost me an arm & a leg to take a taxi 5.5 miles and back to drop off that pkg.
I'm rounding the corner on labeling wiring & determining wiring configurations, etc. Always a nightmare when this type thing isn't your day job.

Up at dawn (5am) I expected a trouble-free day w/ no perturbations. All fun & games until it isn't. Felt I wasn't thinking clearly, began tracing wires in a hurry, etc. Sleep deprivation along w/ anguish & modest despair. Perfect conditions when I make mistakes. So I called it a day on the Indian.

Norm - I'm sorry that what you were hoping was just a simple battery failure has turned into an electrical diagnostic nightmare. I really feel for ya buddy! I'd be screwed and scrambling to borrow a trailer to haul mine off to the dealership. I hope you get to the definitive source of the issue after getting some rest. 🤞

Chris - Thanks. I'll eventually figure it out & have it repaired. I only wish it didn't happen the same time the truck is down waiting on the instrument panel repair. I feel like I'm kinda in a hurry to figure it out w/o the truck; but, that leads to mistakes if I'm rushing. So, I've resolved myself to just kick back regain my mental acuity and methodically trudge along on diagnostics. If the truck were operating, I'd feel as though I have more time to tackle the Indian. Time for a break from it all, maybe.

It seems if I were Mike I could take my pick of which vehicle to use on any given day (from those that are working). I've been on this site seven years & I have yet to figure out how many vehicles Mike owns. Do any of you guys know how many vehicles Mike owns? I wonder if Mike knows how many vehicles he owns?

Hi guys,

I was just getting out of Keegan's hockey game about 8pm when I got a text from Dawn letting me know there was a tornado warning for our town of Pevely. A tornado had been confirmed on the ground in DeSoto, 19-miles Southwest of us and headed directly towards us. I told her to get to the basement and I was headed home. I got to Barnhart 5-miles from home before I hit rain and wind so heavy I had to drive 25mph just to see the road. Made it home and it was still coming down like gangbusters but I escaped any hail. Still don't know how close the tornado might have come to us if it stayed on the ground. We still have a tornado warning in effect until 3am because there is still alot of unstable air behind the initial front and multiple waves still radar indicated thru that time. Here are a couple of pics of the tornado in DeSoto as it was first forming, and then on the ground. Too close for comfort guys!!!

John - You in particular would enjoy ‘3 Body Problem’ (Netflix). I watched it last fall, feel to sleep a couple times (I was tired). I’m watching it again - which to me says a lot. I think it’s great.

I don’t believe it’s necessary to spell $hit instead of ****. 💩
likewise not necessary to spell phuque instead of **** or any of the naughty words, really. Only CO members can read the naughty words. The site maintains a list of naughty words so when a Guest views the CO site, any of the naughty words are rendered *****. Therefore, who gives a ****! LOL

Hi guys,
I'm usually in bed for at least an hour by now but we've been tracking the different lines of severe weather that have continued to move thru all evening. Looks like the last of the severe lines has passed us going East about a 1/2-hour ago. Tons of just heavy rain, several hours of it, will continue throughout the night. Many areas have already gotten +3-inches and there are several areas already reporting localized flooding and impassable roads. I can't imagine what the reports of road closures will be like by morning after continuing to get heavy rain the rest of the night. I would bet a paycheck that we're landlocked in our subdivision already with our main road out to town closed due to the sink hole repairs, and the back way out flooded and impassable due to all this rain. Sure hope no one needs emergency help anytime soon!

Good morning everyone.

Good start to the morning, too bad I won't be at work to see how it ends today. I'm leaving at 9. The lead isn't here so I probably won't get gigged on time, either.

If members of the site can see bad words but the visitors can't, what does that accomplish. I've always thought the censoring was worse than the actual offense. It draws more attention to it.

Yes Norm Mike knows how many cars he has. And how many currently run. I thought that was funny, you were working on wires currently.

Chris maybe that will be it for bad weather for you for awhile. Whatever you're getting my brother surely is too, he's in Wood River, IL. not far from St. Louis.

Okay time for a snack. The pressure is off, Monday is done for the week. Hope everyone has a good day.

My F bomb was removed. I suppose it can be open to interpretation whether I directed it at a user, which is a rule violation. I personally do not think so, but I was not put in charge here.

Mental acuity has returned. Pulled the plunger from the starter solenoid, examined select areas - I don't see readily apparent issues.

Pulled the 30A starter (4-pin) relay - has visual oxidation/corrosion (green/blue) on external surface between pins (30,85,86,87). That in itself doesn't say much.
Measured resistance between pins 85>86. Normal resistance range should be 'roughly' between 50 Ohms - 200 Ohms. Measured resistance = 40 Ohms.
Applied 12VDC power source (battery) between pins 30>87. Should audibly hear relay 'click' (engage). No audible sound detected. I think there's one more measurement I can perform. Yet, w/ a lower than normal resistance & no audible clicking w/in the relay I may have found the issue which would be extremely rewarding since a starter relay is far, far, far easier to replace than either a solenoid or a starter. Baby steps...baby steps.

A mid-week Awful house is always nice. One of the servers has been absent for weeks because she had sciatic problems. She's back now but only a couple days a week. Glad I got to see her today. I was way too early to see my friends with the orange Suburban.

Norm fingers crossed that is your problem. The starter for that engine probably weighs 60 pounds. I wouldn't want to be laying on my back bench pressing that guy to change.

Fun with the F word. When I worked on the ramp once in a while we'd see a bag going to Fukuoka, Japan. The city code for Fukuoka is ***. Being immature we always got a big laugh out of that. When the big tsunami hit Japan a number of years ago a city rather hard hit was Fukushima. They talked about it all the time on the radio when I was in Australia and it was hilarious to hear the Australian woman radio announcer say it. She said it just how it looks. And finally, what starts with F and ends with K and has UC in the middle? Firetruck.

Got a couple extra hours today so I'm gonna go to Mom's and do some yardwork. No rain means I can get out the electric equipment and not get zapped. That may be it for the yardwork for awhile. There are a couple things I've been putting off at my house that really need some attention.

Since I'm currently w/o a running vehicle I walked to several suspect places looking for a 4-pin 12VDC 30A relay w/ no success. Many available on-line. Ordered one up off eBay - manufacturer country of origin = Italy.
You'd think I'd have at least one if not more small (12GA) wire jumpers with alligator clip end terminals; but no, they seem to disappear on occasions or walk away? I picked up new alligator clips @ the hardware store walking home. I'll make several replacement wire jumpers. Hand-holding jumper wires is tedious & annoying. Eh, I'm not going anywhere - think I'll do some soldering & enjoy the day.

Hi guys,

Woke up this morning thankfully with power, but internet is out so I'm posting via mobile data. They're saying our internet might be back around 2:30pm our time.

I don't have a definitive number, bit there's a whole bunch without power across the greater StL area. I did find some intesting stats on the National Weather Service site though in regard to tornados. So far this year in March thru today within the greater StL Area (75-mile radius from downtown) there has already been 28 total confirmed tornados, with 4 EF 3's, and 10 EF 2's. That's just nuts!

Norm - Hang in there, tough sledding right now I know. Feel for ya buddy!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Norm - With all this getting older stuff and me suffering from CRS and I haven't always been following along with this thread, did I miss somewhere that you no longer have your Cutlass? If you still have it how come you don't drive that when your other vehicles are down for repairs? And by the way I feel for you because as of late you're getting your full share of car troubles, seems the **** fairy has found your address and moved in. Hope you get your problems resolved soon.

Don't know how you folks can deal with having that kind of weather, that pic of the tornado so close to you was pretty scary. I saw an article today about a Kentucky family that jumped into their bathtub and the house disintegrated all around them and they survived. Glad you were spared in this last one. Stay safe!

Art - Thanks for the well wishes on the severe weather. Although we always have more than our share of severe weather here in the Midwest, this has been an unually harsh Spring in regard to severe weather, the worst in the 42-years I've been here. However, growing up in Southern Michigan, I tell people all the time there's no way I'd trade our climate here for what I grew up with in Michigan. 6-months of Winter is not a great environment for a classic car and motorcycle enthusiast, plus I just hate the cold weather.
