Gorgeous day here, sunny and 76° for a high with low humidity. I got out and mowed relatively early as soon as the dew was off, around 10am. Hard to keep up, it's every 3 or 4 days lately with all the rain, and more on the way early this coming week.
I had grandsons hockey games back to back late afternoon, early evening. Keegan my 8-yr old goalie only gave up 1 goal in an 8-1 win. Gabe had his usual stellar game scoring two goals and 2 assists, in a 5-4 win, including the game winning goal with 36-seconds left. For a Grandpa it doesn't get any better!
Rather surprised no one had any comments about the picture of the tornado coming into St. Louis that I posted. Maybe it's just me but I thought it was a spectacular shot!
Settling in now to watch the NHL playoffs which I have recorded..
Hope everyone has had a great day and has a relaxing evening!
Well I'll comment. It looks terrifying. I know I've said before when I was little I was afraid of storms and just the mere mention of a tornado sent me into a tailspin. That image looks to be a mile wide. I've never actually seen a tornado, or a funnel cloud. I've seen rotation in the clouds but never anything developed. I'd probably **** myself if I did.
Actually Chris I was being a wise guy. Your windows and siding are already messed up, so if you had a hail storm you couldn't tell.
Worked on the bedroom this morning, had negative progress. Worked on the Suburban after I got home from the Awful house, didn't have progress. But heck it was nice out and I was busy all day.
Time to hit the sack. I'm actually pretty tired tonight. Walmart tomorrow then work. We are going back to starting at 5 and ending at 130. I'll miss the overtime on my check, but I love having an extra hour in the afternoon.
Seems gloomy out. I'm guessing rain. Got a few little projects at Mom's I can do.
Jamesbo it seems like pre composting would take an awful lot of time. What's the point when the end result is the same? Who was that TV celebrity who was buried in a mushroom suit so his body would decompose quicker? It was Luke Perry, I just looked it up.
Time for Walmart. Maybe everyone will stay home because of the rain. I heard a little bit of thunder just now. Hope everyone has a good day.
Chris - No comments likely because that image has been on every news station on the planet.
Norm - Thanks, I'm sure you're correct. In today's digital age everyone sees just about everything of any significance.

Mike - I understand why you were scared of storms/tornados as a child after seeing one. Same thing happened to me after seeing one out our living room window. It was probably at least 500-yards away, one of the skinny, twisty, funnel clouds like in the Wizard of Oz. I was scared for a long time.
Yes, your comment about the hail went over my head, probably because I was seriously worried our new roof, only a few days old now, was going to get trashed by monster hail again so soon.
No Chris I've never seen a tornado first hand. I couldn't tell you why I was so scared of them, probably was scared by a storm and my sister tormenting me mercilessly. As an adult I control my fear better but if there's a particularly bad storm I start to feel jittery. As Tiger gets older he's becoming scared of thunder. I tell him to relax I won't let the storm get him. I find irony in that.
My neighbor, whom I can't stand, snookered his insurance company into buying him a new roof one time after a small hail storm and some shady company told him his roof was trashed. He seemed unusually happy to tell everyone that he needed a new roof and got it essentially for free. About a year or a little more later we had that epic hail storm(the one that battered all my cars and I got a huge payout) where everyone, me included, got a new roof courtesy of the insurance companies, and he tried his best to get another new roof but the inspector told him his roof was new and it was fine. He wasn't so glib after that. ***.
Chris - I don't get to use this word often, but it's fitting when I see the weather/news broadcasters SELLING stories - they're repugnant. 'You heard it here first, you saw it here first on WBlahBlahBlah - repugnant.
Most important news of the day, it's Dawn's birthday! She has the same birthday as my Mom, which thankfully for me has always made it easier to remember her's. I had already asked her several times if there was anything special she would like to do and the best I could get out of her was, "Nothing, I just want to relax." Maybe she'll change her mind and let me at least take her out for a nice dinner later, at least I'll offer. I've made no other plans for today so I can take care of anything she needs me to do, or she would like to do.
I post alot about Gabe's hockey, but not enough about my little goalie Keegan (8-years). He's gonna be a good one too, here's a couple pics from last night. Hope everyone has a great rest of your weekend!

The US has been pounded by severe weather recently. Hurricanes and tornadoes. No one seems to give a **** if someone loses their entire place to a tornado, everyone shrugs and says it's an act of God, and then your insurance company screws you while you're down. Some people go "ohhhh, it's climate change" but the storms are weird. Like Milton last year, since when does a hurricane hang a U turn?

I haven't seen enough direct data for myself over a long enough period of time for me to make an intelligent correlation between climate change and the severity of recent weather, but it sure seems like something has changed? In the 42-yrs I've lived in StL now, I don't remember the frequency and severity of storms being anything near what they've been the last 4 or 5-yrs?
Happy Birthday to Dawn! I hope her day is a success and you dote on her more than usual.
The rain stopped by the time we got to Walmart and it's a nice day out now. Still an inside day because everything is a muddy mess. I find rain to be repugnant.
Keegan looks like he should be older than 8. Maybe it's all the equipment. Such a fine family.

Mike - Glad the rain stopped so you didn't have to get your Mom around in the rain.
Thanks for the B-day wishes for Dawn. You can rest assured she's being doted on. Really too early to tell, but Keegan is very tall for his age, doc says he's 97th percentile for boys 8-yrs old. Looking like both of them will be well over 6ft. Have a great day!
I think Dawn has had an enjoyable and "relaxing" day by her standards. When we started the refresh (flooring/paint/furniture) of the main living areas a couple of years ago, Dawn could not decide what she wanted to do with the area between the entry foyer and the kitchen, which was originally designed to be a formal dining room, and had been since I owned the place. She finally decided she just wanted it to be a sitting room, so for our Anniversary and her Birthday I bought her the new furniture she picked out, and she spent a large part of the day putting it together. I offered to put it together, or at least help, but she wanted to do it because she enjoys doing it.
Previously the formal dining room, now a sitting room. Picture taken from the entry foyer thru the sitting room to the kitchen. New items: faux fig tree left of the couch, couch, rug in front of couch, small coffee table (treasure chest style trunk), and chair in the right front corner. My Mom's serving buffet on the back wall next to the entrance to the kitchen will be removed in lieu of new display shelving, and the light colored serving buffet on the right will also be replaced by a different piece.
Just a view from the new sitting room into the great room. The open staircase to the basement is immediately on the other side of the opening.

I'm betting historically they occur more often than you think. Besides Ivan & Milton I know of at least one additional U-Turn hurricane in the last 25 yrs. I can't recall the name of the other one. I'd say they're infrequent, yet not necessarily rare events.
"Monday & Tuesday are First Alert Weather Days. We’re under a threat level 2/5 risk for storms and a 3/5 risk for storms for counties west on Monday. Tuesday’s risk puts us under a threat level 2/5 for storms."
Scottie Scheffler is an absolute money making machine.
Yes he sure is. I didn't watch any of the play live, but watched some highlights and followed the leaderboard all weekend. He had a helluva tournament.
Friday afternoon I thought he was in a nice position tied 7th...but still some distance from the leaders.
Yesterday, again tied for 7th I mentioned to some folks Scottie is well w/in the mix - he has such a solid game.
Today, he proved it ....... again.
Panthers vs. Hurricanes I think will be close, if nothing else I think it'll be a hard fought series. I'm thinking the Oilers should dominate the Stars - but I really haven't followed the Stars.
So, the two chassis parts on the 68 I painted look different in pics. So, I painted them different flatnesses. Not that different. Turns out, they look the right different with the same paint, just because the metal is different. Painting done, now to reassembly and sticker.
Went to the new place, fired the mower, made one lap around the big yard, and my friend shows up. Shut down, and we go and weedwhack a path into the field and around the garden for his daughter. I'm going to look at yard tractors in June. They left after a couple hours, so I got back to mowing and put 4 hours in. Mowed the big yard, and one of the side yards. Halfway done. It will rain so I will have to get back to it on Wed or so. I cut it one notch lower. Looks good, but the drive belts would slip a bit going uphill.
Up at dawn. All ready to drop off the truck instrument panel @ FEDEX and the Indian is fighting me - won't start. Likely/Hoping it's the battery. Ugh, this will likely put me at least a day behind on the instrument panel repair. It's back on the trickle charger for a little while to see if I can muster up enough to fire it off. These little 12 VDC batteries take a beating & don't last long. With an engine compression ratio of 12.5:1 it takes solid cranking amps to fire off. Anything below 12.0 VDC & it's pretty much a no-go situation. I have a couple other batteries, can't recall if this one is the newest. The primary issue is (like most motorcycles) getting to the battery. On this bike it takes even more effort.
Talking about our dogs getting excited/ panicked about thunder- we were camping and the severe weather siren went off and lots of lightning/thunder... Buddy didn't care a bit. But... if my phone or Linda's phone text alert goes off- he is a nervous wreck! He has to get up on me or her and cuddle- strangest thing!
Got back from camping yesterday. The weather was pretty good overall. Thursday on way down beautiful and sunny, Thursday night severe thunderstorm, but not much wind, everything that was out got wet, but no other problems, Friday also nice and sunny with a rainstorm that night. Saturday and Sunday cooler and mostly cloudy. Truck and trailer did great- no issues, except truck odometer went wacky. Here's some pics of some of the vintage RV's and their tow vehicles Owner wasn't around so didn't get story on this Studebaker bus. The trailer is a 60 and Rambler wagon is a 62. He doesn't pull trailer with the wagon, only has a 6 cyl. Both match each other- blue. 1938 Diamond T with LS drivetrain, he does pull trailer at highway speeds - BEAUTIFUL!!
. The 50 Chebby station wagon has a complete LS drivetrain and pulls that heavy old trailer no troubles, also the red Diamond T truck has a LS and pulls that heavy trailer no trobs.
Extra hour of sleep this morning which was appreciated. Extra hour to my afternoon as well. I like having the overtime but I can use every bit of off time I can get.
Greg those are nice pictures. Apparently the guy with the Shasta leaves his trailer there all the time, if he doesn't tow with the wagon. Love the Spartan. Cool idea towing with a short bus, kind of like having two RVs.
Chris the sitting room looks nice. I have this feeling that this spring's bad weather is a telltale sign of what's to come for the summer. I hope not.
Work is less than spectacular. Though we have plenty of wheels and nothing is broken. Monday doldrums maybe. We actually have a target number to reach today, don't see it happening.
If there isn't rain I'll work on the Suburban and the van this afternoon. I like not having mowing to worry about. That will come about next week again.
Greg, I like those campers. My old man had an airstream we used as a hunting camp trailer from around 95 till about 2020; we actively used it from 95-10 or so. My brother had grand delusions of restoring it, but both he and my dad had mutually exclusive, equally bad ideas on how to go (my dad has the money, but is cheap, and my brother is poor-ish, but only wants the absolute best like it's an affront if it's not) so they sold it.
Norm, does that two wheeler have a kick starter backup and could you still spike it if it did with current health and condition?

John - I know the '68 was in pretty nice shape to begin with. Is the work you're doing on it now to bring the quality up to the level for a big time Show like MCACN?
