The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Hi guys,
Got another update from the Roofer saying they were working today, and if they are able to work tomorrow and Saturday, they'll be at our place Monday. He also gave me a heads up the materials were coming today, which I was glad for because I needed to get my truck out of the driveway so they could back the conveyor truck up to the house. The materials are now up there. Frankly, I don't see them getting to us on Monday because I'm seeing considerable rain in the forecast tomorrow and Saturday.
This brings up something else. I was really hoping to get my car out to it's 1st event on Saturday, a judged Show 40-miles South of me at a Knights of Columbus in Cadet, MO. All week they had been showing little to no chance of rain on Saturday. Today the chance was bumped all the way up to 65% here at my house, and 80% in Cadet. I don't like the odds! Can't seem to catch a break with the weather so far this season.
Gabe has a game tonight at 5:30 and both Dawn and I are going. One of my very best friends from work is coming all the way from the Illinois side of the river to watch him play. We've been close friends for 42-years. This is my buddy I've spoken of before that's the Mopar fanatic. He doesn't know alot about hockey, but he was an athlete, having played college basketball at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsvile. I won't have trouble finding him, he's 6' 9".
Hope everyone has had a great day and has a relaxing evening!

I wouldn't like blue cheese dressing w/ American Cheddar. That's Colby/Jack I used in that salad. Blue + cream cheese is a great combination. I've been eating many varieties of Brie lately + cracker(s) + Breschetta and white seedless grapes. Why do they call them white - they're always F'ing green to me.
According to legend, Roquefort cheese was discovered when a youth, eating his lunch of bread and ewes' milk cheese, saw a beautiful girl in the distance. Abandoning his meal in a nearby cave, he ran to meet her. When he returned a few months later, the mold (Penicillium roqueforti) had transformed his plain cheese into Roquefort

Roquefort
Norm, Ya ever had any from clemsonhttps://www.clemson.edu/bluecheese/
Believe it or not that's my favorite too. I like the brands of regular Bleu Cheese or Roquefort they sell in the refrigerated area of the produce in the grocery stores. My favorite Roquefort is Marzetti's. Marzetti's sells both a Bleu Cheese and Roquefort. To me the Roquefort is not as sharp/strong as their regular Bleu Cheese.
Speaking of hockey, Gabe played another stellar game tonight, having a hand in all his team's goals in a 5-4 win. All the teams in this 4-on-4 League are now into the back end of the schedule and playing each other for the 3rd time. Teams are now double teaming Gabe every time he's on the ice. He's still finding a way to beat them though, like tonight with his 1 goal and 4 assists.
They fail to tell you this youth was playing stinky-finger w/ his girlfriend while eating his ewes' milk cheese before he dragged her into the nearby cave for three months.

Yep, I guess I certainly did.
I even Googled whether they had ever marketed a dressing labeled as "Roguefort" and the answer was "No, although their Chucky Blue Cheese contains Roguefort Bleu Cheese." That is not what I'm remembering though. I'm getting old/er!

Good morning everyone.
What's with the huge blank header on the top of some of the threads?
Things aren't as fast and busy as they were yesterday but we're doing okay. Might pick up in a little while because there's only 3 of us signing, and one guy has to leave later on.
John did your grandmother live in her house when the tree fell on it or had she passed by that time? I adored both my grandmothers and miss them still. My one grandma would say Gosh All Friday and Heavens to Betsy and we'd crack up. She's the only one I've ever heard say gosh all Friday. I didn't appreciate them as much as I should have back then, I think that's why I miss them so much.
Chris good luck with your roof. When I had a roof put on my house I tried to put them off a couple days and they got mad. Said they ordered the stuff already and if they didn't do it THAT DAY it would all have to go back, and they'd have to order it again. Sounded like BS to me but whatever.
Not a fan of bleu cheese anything. My dad loved that stuff. He liked some weird stuff. Brown mustard. Spam.
Guess I'll get ready for lunch. Friday but overtime tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well.

Yep, the place will be rockin! I have faith they will win tonight taking it back to Winnepeg for a game 7. We'll see??? If they do make it back to Winnepeg, that will be a tough one. Both teams are incredible on their home ice.
Good morning everyone.
Two hours in to overtime this morning. Things are going pretty well, if a little slow. Awful house later.
Norm have fun with the kiddies today.
Huge blank headers are gone today.
Rain over night but I think it's done. Gonna try to work on the shop this afternoon. I wish I could spend a month straight on that place.
Okay have a good weekend everyone.

Just watching the national weather. Mike you're gonna get some heavy, potentially severe storms roll through Atlanta later this afternoon thru early evening. There will be multiple waves. Hoping Norm will be off the course before it gets to him. Be safe!
Good morning guys,
I can't seem to catch a break on getting my car out to an event so far this year. It rained overnight and roads were soaked when I got up at 0630 to check the conditions. 75 to 80% threat of heavy rain/thunderstorms after Noon, with the highest threat around 3pm. I'm not going anywhere.
May's starting off like April, very wet. The monthly weather statistics have been out for a couple days and April 2025 is the wettest April on record for StL. That doesn't surprise me a bit because it seemed like we were getting 2 or 3-days of rain for every dry day.
With car plans dashed, not much on the schedule today. I really, really need to get the yard mowed. I'm hoping to get out there around 10 or 10:30 if the grass will dry out some, but with overcast skies and temps only in the mid-50's, that's a big ask. Just an ugly day here for early May.
Well, I was right when I said I had faith in a StL Blues win last night to force a game 7 against the Jets in Winnepeg on Sunday. The home team has won every game in this series, so the Blues are gonna have to bring their A+++ game to get a win and move on.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Boy Chris you weren't just a-kidding. A little after 8 it started raining and a few minutes later the tornado siren starts up. I haven't heard that thing in years. It isn't quite dark out so I go outside but don't see anything that looks threatening. Mom says to me, I wonder why we haven't gotten a TV warning. Well, we were watching HGTV so I turned to channel 2. The weather man had all the charts and screens up and was just starting to say that there was a tornado touch down between Morrow and Forest Park, which is maybe 10 miles from me, and there was a severe thunderstorm with 1.5 inch hail right around I75 and 675. That's almost my back yard! We got a lot of lightning but no wind and the rain wasn't too heavy. We were right in the middle of the action. Thank God it blew past us. He kept saying north eastern Henry County get to your safe place. We stayed upstairs because of how calm things were outside, but how much fun would it have been to get Mom down the stairs in a hurry. We're still getting thunder and some rain but nothing treacherous. Power never went off.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I was more than a little concerned. When I was a kid I was absolutely mortified by bad weather. I don't remember any particular event that cemented that into my brain but I'd start trembling and of course Mom would scold me. My sister would make fun of me. Neither of which helped. As an adult I don't freak out but it still scares me a little.
Well now I'm home and I'm going to bed. It's been a long time since 2am when I got up for work. Work went well by the way. Awful house was short because my friends weren't there. I'm sleeping in tomorrow.
Jamesbo I hope all this stayed south of you. The news guy talked about Athens but that's still quite a bit south of you.

I've watched/seen two tornadoes form - one in central (El Dorado) Kansas while driving I-35 Southbound (~1986) & one in Northern (Elgin) Illinois sending our family to the basement seeking shelter (~1959).
Currently Poseidon & Neptune are doing battle over their longstanding dispute regarding Athena's virginity. It's unclear who might be winning but they're having quite the pissing match.
