The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
So you don't think chem-trails are a real thing for weather modification? Even though many states are trying to ban this practice? There are days here that you can clearly see the difference between chem-trails and con-trails behind planes in the sky. The con-trails are short and dissipate in a matter of minutes, the chem-trails never dissipate and actually spread across the sky. Not to mention when they appear in a grid-type formation.
The 'length' of a contrail is determined by the humidity (moisture) saturation at any given/particular altitude.
Less humidity = short contrail. Greater humidity = longer contrail.
What often occurs (at altitude) is the formation of ice crystals from the normal ensuing condensation in a high humidity environment.
Many (most) aircraft don't produce a contrail, if a contrail appears it's most often very short and of small duration.
If a long contrail appears, it occurs in a highly humid environment in which the super heated condensation turns into ice. It is the formation of ice crystals which displays long contrails.
Ha. We'll see how that plays out. Seems/Sounds like such a simple thing. I truly wish it were that easy. Consistently shooting in the 70s is a difficult accomplishment if not playing/practicing on a near-daily basis.

Some conspiracy theories are actually the truth, like the origins of Covid-19. Others have a little truth. Even chem trails has a little truth. There IS a NASA cloud seeder plane. It does go up, and they spray liquids on clouds to affect them for science. But, your average South West Airlines 737 heading for Disney with 300 people, luggage, and JP-1, or whatever those Boeings burn, cannot be putting out chemtrails.
This is when the low intelligence conspiracy theorist starts screaming I'm a government flunky because I don't believe. He is wrong, because, although I do not believe a 737 is a chem trail dispenser, it is not because I don't believe the government would use mind-controlling agents in the sky to make the citizens docile and have little dicks, or whatever the doom du jour is. Rather, I know what a 737 can carry, and what it can't, and, if it had a fuselage full of ammonium nitrate, it couldn't very well carry passengers, luggage, stewardesses, and shitty peanuts now could it?
To summarize, I don't disagree with the average right wing conspiracy theorist because I trust the government and he doesn't. I disagree with them because they are so........ stupid.

Chris, congrats to you and Dawn on your anniversary. Took the Olds up to Whitehall, about 25 minutes North of here to talk to probably the only decent a/c and radiator shop around. I wanted him to have a look under the hood and give suggestions as to what I would need for a aftermarket a/c install. he has used Old Air Products before, and that was the vendor that I want to use. He said to call them, as they will have information and parts that are not are the website. I also got a "ball park" estimate for the install. Plasma won't be enough, not sure platelets would be either. I have a stocking cap that I may have to cut eyeholes into. $$$$

Good luck with the A/C install if you decide to go ahead with it. I have contemplated having one done on mine. I got three quotes 2 or 3-years ago that ranged from about $4,500 to $6,000. I just didn't feel like those kind of dollars were worth it since most of my driving is just to/from events, and not joy riding or trips.
Important day tomorrow, Dawn's and my 15th Anniversary! I think you guys know how I feel, but man is she a keeper! Looks, brains, and a work ethic like nobody's business. I definitely got the better end of the deal! I'm just praying for 30 more years with this incredible woman, I'm blessed!
Hope everyone has a great evening!

I just don't really know much about things like contrails, I usually avoid conversations about things like that, politics and religion. But it is odd, some people are sure you are against them if you don't pipe up and say "oh yeah- yup- you're right- I agree", etc. I usually just clam up when people start those conversations. I know who I like (most all), and don't like to find a point to argue with them... The old guy who was talking about the contrails seemed OK with my quietness. Great day yesterday, still working on Olds dash- what a PIA. But I just chug away and am getting back together very slowly- key is making sure I am comfortable- not getting upset when drop the 1/4" socket in the dash for the 8th time, etc. I have to work mostly thru the gas gauge hole- by feel or with a mirror which makes image backwards.. gettin there though. Plan to mow yard today..
Greg - I hear you about the dash. For several reasons I opened & disassembled the dash on my '71 CS convertible several times. I guess the best term is 'tedious', but a great deal of satisfaction when it was all done. Don't lose/misplace the steering column dash gear selector wire. I looked at that thing several times & thought if I do lose it or messed it up it's basically the size of a large paper clip. When it's time to reinstall HVAC ducting have a roll of that cloth/fiber electrical tape on hand.

Man I really admire your patience, skill, and dexterity working on your Old's dash. That really, really sounds tough working thru a small hole in the dash and using a mirror. I do not envy you at all! Good luck on the rest of it!
The problem with conspiracy theories is that the people pushing them have no scientific background at all. Another problem is that there is an "alt right conspiracy theory pack" that people of low intelligence seem to download into their brains, so you're having an agreeable conversation, then they try on some batshit to see if you like that and you're like "....oh."

Sorry for seeming to be of low intelligence or so ******* stupid. I'm in the middle on this, and just trying to educate myself and see things from different perspectives and different opinions. I don't believe that every passenger plane is spewing chemicals (other than exhaust) but I do know that trails, whatever kind, definitely look different from different planes at the same time of day under the same weather conditions. I'm just curious how some dissipate quickly as the plane flies and others grow into billowy clouds across the sky. I've never seen ice crystals multiply in such a way.
It is common for people wanting to win a debate to exaggerate or state false facts. A Boeing 737 isn't configured to hold 300 passengers ? You'd have to remove the lavatories and fill the passenger aisles with seats to come close to 250 passengers. I don't think there would be room for a bag of crappy peanuts.
This flyer was in our mailboxes today from the City of Pevely. During the worst rains in March, a sinkhole developed (aqua shading) directly adjacent to Abbey Lane (red X's) which is our primary route from our subdivision out to Pevely and other primary roads. This is the route that rarely floods during periods of heavy rain. The sinkhole has not swallowed up any of the road yet, but it's very close, and has been deemed dangerous enough that emergency repairs are necessary. Koch Road that is mentioned on the flyer as an alternate route of egress while the repairs are being made regularly floods, and becomes impassable in the area of a low water culvert even in periods of moderate rains. This could really get ugly if we get any significant rain while the repairs to Abbey Lane are being performed!
Hi everyone.
I'm playing retired today. Took off so I can go to the doctor here in a little bit, and I was just tired. It felt good to sleep in to all of 730. That doesn't sound very late I know but it's 5 1/2 hours later than when I'd normally get up. That's a lot.
Chris hope your day was a success. You and Dawn are lucky to have each other.
I always get a chuckle out of the government spewing chemicals out of the airplanes bit. As one who works on the airplanes I can tell you there is no room for a tank to hold anything that isn't necessary for the airplane to operate. We also would have had to install them and never did, we also would have to service them and never do. The reason the trails look different in the sky is probably because the engines are different. Some engines are bigger than others and would put out a different trail. Some use more fuel, some have a bigger fan, some planes have more engines than others. It all makes for a different exhaust stream. People also think that when you flush the lav it's all vented to the outside. It isn't.
Beautiful day here. I keep thinking it's Saturday. Might do some mowing when I get back. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Chris I know you hate city meetings, but maybe you could get some of your neighbors together and go to one and insist they improve Koch Road after they finish with Abbey Lane. If they don't want to do that give them an alternative. Build a third road somewhere else.
Mike - Great idea, but the trouble with Koch Road is that it is not within the boundary of the City of Pevely, it is under the purview of our County government. We (3 separate subdivisions) along Abbey Lane and Koch Valley have lobbied the County numerous times for them to improve the area of Koch Road that regulary floods for the purpose of Safety. It has always fallen on deaf ears with the County's response being there is not enough traffic, and the risk is minimal, compared to the cost. However, with what's going on with Abbey Lane now, it might be worth bringing up the topic again?
As one who could care less.........the "trails" can be the result of a few things. Until the engine type is confirmed, difference could occur in the sky. Generally, all commercial passenger planes rely on a jet engine of some configuration. 1. Turbo-prop, 2. Turbofan 3. Ramjet. Also keep in mind military aircraft in the sky can also employ an "after burner". Do some reading online about the different types of jet engines.

However, I think just a decent sized concrete box culvert would work nicely. The box culvert would both lift the road significantly higher than it is now, and greatly increase the flow of the water under the road compared to the small metal culvert that is under the road now. I know construction is expensive, but a simple concrete box culvert couldn't be crazy expensive, or could it, I really don't know?
Norm - I'm having a hard time picturing what you mean by a "lift station"?

Norm - I got it, I'm familiar with lift stations in the context of waste water return systems. I just wasn't sure how it would apply in this situation. I'm definitely not an engineer, but it seems like you'd have to have an incredibly powerful pump to pump enough water from the inlet side of the existing smaller diameter culvert to the exit side to keep up with the amount of water we see go across there, but what do I know, NOTHING!
I've seen first-hand how these things play out. Large developer sells his idea to the city, county (insert polico affiliate) for development of 300 - 400 (whatever) home sites. City sees enormous amounts of money from various opportunities - tax revenue, waste water treatment, water lines (sales of potable water), personal property tax revenue, etc. - I know you get the point. Developer likely tickling some gov't official's nut sack since it's a big old "boys club". Town "Planner" has no F'ing clue how to read a site survey & less likely they want to fight w/o a leg to stand on so the good old boys all head to the bar to finalize the deal. We've had one (at least) here in my town for ~25 years which is now just coming to a head. The developer (I know him & of him) is a douche nozzle pulling the wool over everyone's eyes. You know the deal - farmer (no disrespect) sells off 200 acres, developer creates a development site map, gov't officials (mostly lacking any true engineering background) asks same dumb questions from "some" official gov't book, everyone nods in agreement when they see the really BIG $$$$$ signs. Streets begin flooding, runoff continues unabated and fingers start pointing w/ no one taking responsibility. SOS.....SOS....SOS.

That looks very good! I'm going to have to check whether any stores around me are carrying those? I'm having Chicago's Home Run Inn Meat Lover's tonight. Haven't had one in quite awhile because Walmart always seems to be out of them lately.
I love Chicago style deep-dish Pizzeria Uno. I've eaten many of them at their two restaurants - delicious. Some years ago I saw they had begun selling them in grocery stores so I picked one up. I was sorely disappointed. Possible I may have butchered it, yet unlikely. So, I haven't bought a deep dish pizza in at least 10 - 15 years, until today. This Motor City Pizza Co, pizza is pretty good - good enough I'd buy it again. As w/ some pizzas I'll often embellish certain pizzas adding extra tomato sauce/paste, mozzarella, onions, mushrooms, etc. This one was pretty decent straight out of the box. I'll say though, read the carton - the pizza should be 6" - 8" from the bottom of the oven. That's somewhat dissimilar to thin crust (not deep dish) pizzas which are cooked in the center of the oven.
Chris - You keep talking about these pizzas - I haven't tried one. I think I might have been to a Walmart ~3 months ago & it wasn't for grocery shopping. I'm going to try to remember to look for that Home Run Inn Meat Lover's pizza.

Hey guys,
4-4-2 is locked, loaded, and ready to rock and roll. Weather is supposed to be beautiful tomorrow, sunny, 75°, and 0% chance of rain. I am really excited to get her out to an event!

Norm - Many moons ago, probably only the 2nd or 3rd summer Dawn and I were together, I got us tickets to 2 games for a Cards/Cubs weekend series at Wrigley. That filled a bucket list item for me. Another part of that was having some true Chicago Deep Dish Pizza and we went to Uno's one night for dinner. The pizza was incredible, loved it! I remember the taxi ride from our hotel to Uno's almost as much as the pizza. We had an Indian driver that thought he was driving Formula 1. I really thought we were going to die before we got there!
