some advice on a 455 build

So I am slowly working on my 71 cutlass and it is about time to start thinking about the engine. I have a 350 2bbl right now with a th350. I would like to put a 455 with around 500hp that will work with an OAI hood. a beefed up 200r4(CK has a nice one), with 3.73 posi rear end and 28 inch tires. this is going to be mostly a street car but I like to play too. and I will take to the track a few times too. I do have a holly street dominator intake but I'm not attached to it. and I would like to keep the compression around 10-1. ( I would like to still be able to use pump gas). I was thinking about 77cc aluminum heads with -22 dish pistons. any way kind of just in the planning stages so any advice would be good.

Do a search but here are the basics for what you'll need to make 500hp at the crank.

Good machine work
Forged piston, i.e. Wiseco or Icon, 15cc dish
Eagle H beam rods
Edelbrock heads
Your Holley Street dominator will be fine.
I'd do a Quick Fuel 830 carb
Cam in the 240@.050 range, preferably a roller.
1 7/8 headers

That should do it. Check out some of my builds etc on here. That should give you a bit more info.

No, with good heads that cam doesn't have enough lift in it to use them. I'd do something with more lift and on a 112 lobe sep, not a 110.

EFI just want you to know I think you are the man, and down the road I will probably come to you for my cam. I on another note Im wondering if 60 over is to much for a 455, would this make the walls to thin?

Mark's a good guy to work with, I got my roller cam & lifters from him for my SBO. Would buy from him again for sure.

Not normally. But I'd have them checked.

Thanks Nick, I appreciate the kind words.
