How do I?...

One of my upcoming projects is to paint the bumper jack for my 72 Supreme and display it in the trunk with the spare tire mounted on an original SSII wheel. If I understand correctly, the base of the jack is used to hold the wheel tight in the trunk. My question is, do I take the center cap out of the wheel? It doesn't make sense, but I figured I would ask.

Thanks,
Dave

For the Super Stock wheels, the retaining rod comes up through one of the lug holes on the wheel and is held in place by a retaining hex nut. This nut is available through Fusick. The center cap stays on the wheel. The other jack parts are contained under the wheel with the exception of the lug wrench. It is held in place aft of the spare tire in the trunk by two lug wrench clips. Those clips are also available through Fusick.

And yes, this applies to SSII wheels in addition to the pictured SSI wheel.

The special nut is available from the repro houses.
