1965 442 Spare Tire Hold Down
Hi All,
Have a 65 442, but using 70-72 SSI wheels (with trim ring and fits disc brakes). The 65 originally has the hold down J hook go thru the center of the wheel, and used the jack base and wing nut to hold the wheel down. The jack and wrench were stored under the tire. From what I can see the cars that came with the SS1 wheel had the J hook go thru the lug nut hole and used a special nut that fit into the lug nut opening in the wheel. The wrench was stored in clips near the bumper so it could be used to loosen this special nut.
What would be the best way to do this is in a 65 which does not have the clips for the wrench? Would like it to look somewhat original. And would I use the J hook from a 65 or one from a 70-72 ?
Or can I run the J hook thru the center of the SSI and hold it down with the base jack?
