I'm waiting till after my wedding. I'm getting married in 25 days and I don't want to risk being in the middle of a project and not being able to use the car. We plan on leaving the church in the '55. Our friends are going to do the car up like they would back in 50's and 60's.
Then I'll look at taking the seats out and fixing the floor. Then will come the mat!

I am taking my time. I just replaced my sending unit Saturday and got the whole fuel system cleaned and leak free.
Keep up your good work and inspiring us to keep going on our projects.
btw I'm all for hotties in any type of skirtsthanks
Since you are in Florida too (and man I wish you lived closer to my area because you are doing amazing things), know anyone that can work on my hydramatic? I have super leaking going on....

I don't know much about Olds. yet, but I am learning!
Thanks! I am just keeping a close watch on it, no rush! The points took me off the road for a week anyhow....because I didn't know that was the simple problem. Learning!

, about the color I think is all a matter of personal taste. Like I said I don't know much about 55s but I have seen solid color 56s as well as two tones as follows;1st color/2nd color
front and roof/rear
front and rear/roof
rear and roof/ front

I hope I can make it to that

BTW, thanks
Well mine is alive for the first time in 10 yrs ,I looked at the title and i bought it in 2000 then tore it apart.I have a few fuel line leaks at the carbs and have to remove primary to install longer shaft for proper linkage.and i HAVE to change to spin on oil filter cannot keep this one from dripping and the bolt head is starting to round off.I burnt up the primary wire sunday and had to replace it then had a clogged fuel line to blow out after that the gas smelled funny so there must have been a bit of old gas and condensation in the tank which was renewed about 11 yrs ago.I still have to put in a gallon or two more of antifreeze and some lucas breakin aditive and a quart of trans fluid ,set timing and put dash grill and radio in,drop fenders and front splashpan on then wetsand for days .I can still taste that bad gas burning through the pipes ewwy morning mouth.Say do smithy pipes sound decent?
well I have time, still working on the money side
I don't have a 324 but they sound very loud with my sbc

Smittys
As I have posted in another thread I feel smittys are to loud for me. I like to project some class and a just smidgen of brass.Let them know you are coming but let their last impression be of your car not a loud noise. Everyone likes something different, me I like to converse with my cup holder as I cruse down the hi way.My vote would be for Flow Masters, love them....Tedd
Are the flowmasters a muffler or a glass pack? Also any opinions on thrush? i like the glass pack sound but not too loud like cherrybombs. My pipes look like glasspacks now but are quiet as a muffler, just a slight brrump from the cam and i would like just a bit more.
Golds 56, flowmasters are a muffler and sound is a subjective thing. Whats good to me might drive you nuts. It would be best if you could listen to a few different cars and make up your own mind. Car shows are a great place for this and most owners are happy to fire it up and give you a listen.I would hate to see you pony up $400 to $600 for a system then find out you can't stand it.....Tedd
Good advice tedd ,I am not the problem though as i am 80% deaf, she is the one that dosent want them too loud. The third saturday of every month spring through fall there is a car show in Flushing and about 50% of the guys that go pass our house .so you can imagine i jump up to see which one it is and she makes a face. The guy across the street has a chopped dropped tubbed 66 i belive chevy pu with a bbc and blower that he tunes on for hours before driving it anywhere he starts about 4am to go to woodward in detroit. Two years ago he stalled in front of the house and worked on it for 4 hrs before finally adding some gasoline to the tank DUHHHH.Anyways i will ask a few that i hear go by but no shows till spring now.
I read these posts and feel the passion you all have, i got to say the thing i love is i live miles away here in australia and when i open the garage door and see our 55 it puts a smile on my face and i cant help but feel i have a piece of american history here, how many people have the opportunity to be in that situation especially here in australia, i'm so lucky, i sit and think who bought the car when new, what did they do for a living, where are they now(maybe not with us) soon my 53 98 will be here which i hope to use more as a daily driver, we love american iron so much that i also have please don't shoot me a 68 convertible mustang, the mustang is a restomod, power rack, electronic 4 speed auto, coil over front end and a big whopping ford racing 427, our daily kid transporter is a dodge journey, so ill put up some pics of our stable

Even half a world away, we share the same passions. I also often wonder about original owners...especially for the ones that I have paperwork with their names. We are all lucky to have what we do ...Happy thanksgiving all.
There is nothing better than having people stop you and want to tell you their story about their car back in the day that was just like yours, even though it was a four door, green and a Dodge. Something about a nostalgia machine that puts a smile on everyone from bums to babies.
Not to long ago a gent came up to me at a show and said I almost bought this car before you did.I know the history of this vehicle from 1978 and thought he must be mistaken. But after a short conversion I found out that he indeed had the chance to own it. Seems he was buying the house that my car was stored at and was offered the car before me, said he wanted a 98 at that time and passed on the 88. I now have the address of the place I found my car( I had long forgotten the street it was stored at) I plan on taking a few pictures to complete my build album.
Rocketdownunder, Thats a great stable you have and by the way when heads turn below the equator do they turn clock wise or counter clock wise ?....Tedd

but I needed a daily). BTW who does those two 59 and 60 caddies bellong to? Nice
The 60 belongs to the guy in the white shirt and his partner in the black dress, the 59 is owned by another couple not in shot , the other 2 in the photo is my wife and myself, the photos of our cars was taken outside the old hotel where we had the ladyluck festival, just for reference we have a face book page called "All out muscle cars and classics" this is where we keep in contact and organise cruises, car shows, etc, so if your on face book check us out.
cheers chris.

Man I told you before, but I'll tell you again I love that 53 and 55 Olds. I really can't bug you too much for owning a mustang since owning a convertible classic is on my todo list (already own a nissan convertible but not worth the metal is made out of

A little but this is more because I want install airbags in it and this will bring the noise of the compressors down. Next I want to do my floor and firewall but that will have to wait because I want to use the thicher material which will keep more heat out than this one.
What does that do? It is just to keep the noise down?
I am starting on fun/beautification projects now that I am running full force.
I gave the guys in the car club I rode with last night a run for their money in the old girl!
