What wire kit did you go with, how many circuits? I have used the EZ Wire kit on my wifes full custom 48 chevy and in a 53 Merc pick up. I am thinking about either building a harness or just ordering one for my 56. It looks like someone let a 15 year old loose with a box of wire nuts. It starts and runs but just barley.

I went with a 21 circuit, it's kind of overkill but I got high hopes of one day adding a/c, power windows and other power goodies

Guys,

I wired my '46 myself starting from scratch and it isn't too bad but I think in retrospect I should have used a pre-made kit. I think it would have turned out a much cleaner job and the advantage of the labeled wires and labeled fuse panel most of the kits have is a bonus.

Those pictures give me a headache! Man what a rat's nest!

Yeah between all the wires and vacuum lines it is better if I just rip it all out and start over.

Nice spinners, look good on the car. Got my Christmas present today from Fusick (which I bought myself). A pair of repop tail light lens and outside drivers rear view mirror for my 65 Cutlass.
Have a Great Holiday.

If you are asking what condition my car is in she 90% complete. Just the little things left which sometimes take the longest to complete. I would post a pix but I don't want to highjack Hialeah's thread.

I saw the Hubcaps hialeah56 of which is ragalato for christmas, so I wrote the message.
I'd like to see progress, however, also tio and I understand, I'm also almost finished my work and everything becomes slower.

Just installed my autronic eye head in the dash. Wish I would have drilled before installing the glass it was kind of a pain in the **** .

BTW don't mind the dash pad, it is there to get fitted and will get redone when the interior gets done

I really don't like the idea of a temperature idiot light and don't like it when they mount gauges on a classic car so I came up with this. Had an extra cluster laying around and a temp gauge and decided to put them together. Still not painted so don't mind the details, also don't know how I would make the blinker on that side work yet. So this is a work in progress and might not do it at all. Just felt like breaking something today

not yet I'm thinking I could probably use one of the light tubes that go in the ashtrays in the dash to curve the light into that area we'll see, I have to look for the rusty ashtrays I have in the shed

Erit,
I'm planning to replace my brake set up on my 98 in th next couple month's now that the chassis is of the frame. I've never attempted anything like it before but I'm pretty sure I've got the skills to pull it off. I was wondering if you'd mind revisiting your brake job again. I've looked at the photos from earlier in the thread. Where did you pick up the kit, master cylinder etc. and why did you replace the pedal. (like I said, I'v never done this type of thing before)

I see whole front 'hub to hub' kits in magazines. Wondering what your opinion is on those. I you had your body off the frame like mine is would you consider doing it?

Thanks in advance to you (and anyone else) for any advice. I don't want to hijack your thread so feel free to PM me.

Bret

The bracket that holds the calipers in place came from here
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Oldsm...Q5fAccessories
it came with a list of parts you need to complete the job
the booster came from here
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8-DUA...Q5fAccessories
(don't forget to specify that you want a disc/drum proportion valve if you order this)

and the pedal got replaced because my car didn't come with power brakes from factory and had the pedal that came from the bottom of the floor. I tried to adapt a power brake pedal that I had bought when I was going to go original but just didn't like the way it would have gone on. Since the booster is now firewall mounted the original power brake pedal would have to be mounted higher and extended some how.

So today I decided to take apart my light switch due to the dash lights not turning on. I tested everything and saw I wasn't getting any voltage out to the terminal to the dash lights. Took apart the white part of the switch, but to do this had to unscrew the main part of it, which came apart very agressive, so make sure to do this on a table not under your dash like I did . Took apart the white part of the switch and cleaned the contacts but found this (broken spring 1st pic) after testing the spring for continuity. Luckly I had my parts car switch (which was a non autronic but the main switch is identical to the autronic one) and took apart cleaned it and it now works fine, so pics of my working dash light will be posted when it gets dark.

broken spring

apart

good one cleaned
