I still have a huge grin on my face...just drove my 442 around the block, the SS700 shifts very nice, I love the 2.66 1st gear, comes off the line NICE..
Only things left are parking brake cable, backup lights, and neutral safety switch. Here's a pic of the original shifter mounted to the SS700, same position as before..

Funny thing, I just picked my car up tonight! Same deal. Smiling ear to ear. I had a big *** radiator w/ electric fans put in it, an 11" disc because the 10 1/2 was slipping. Lowering springs, reverse lights, the wiring cleaned up under the hood, new oil pan, starter, tires, wow what a list! I haven't seen the bill yet. I was at the shop from 7pm to 2am yesterday putting everything back together. I had some fish eyes and some chips on the lips of the front quarters where they meet the hood. Next thing I know the fenders are off the car and the whole thing is getting touched up, resprayed, etc. The car drives and handles fantastic now. I am so stoked. Now to break it in properly. I tried the clutch and it doesn't slip anymore at speed. So one thing got solved anyway. Happy Motoring!

I've been driving the car a lot lately, I'm enjoying my RS600 as well. My only complaint is the shifts feel a bit too "metallic" and clunky to me. I like that it has a nice positive engagement into each gear, but it's just not as smooth as I'd like. I'd like to road race this thing, I could see it being a pain in the butt there, with multiple up and down shifts per lap. Banging gears at the drag strip should be just fine.

It's a hell of lot tighter than my M-20 was, that's for sure.

Yes, I love shifting the trans., changes the feel of the car, almost effortless. The close ratio gearset is a huge improvement over the M20 too.

Dc2x4drvr - would you be able to post a pic of the shifter, not a close up but with the interior in the background. Thx

I don't have a pic, however with or without the console there are no appearance differences, looks exactly like it did with the M20.

So it retains the stock appearance, very cool. I saw that YouTube vid of the vette and that shifter looked funny, wasn't sure if that was standard but I guess not.
