With all the hype and buzz around overdrive automatic transmissions I was wondering if anyone makes a kit or package to easily complete the swap process. Something that containes the trany,drive shaft and everything else needed to get the job done correctly. Any info would be appreciated,thanks!

Steve, I'm not aware of anyone selling a complete package. There are several vendors on ebay selling 200R4 transmission that say they are build well enough to take the torque of a big block. Shiftworks sells a kit to convert a floor shifter from the 2 or 3 speed to a 4 speed automatic. I believe a few members here have made the swap, you might try the search option to locate the threads then ask them specific questions about where they got parts, what problems they encountered, etc. John

There's no kit because you really don't need one. If the car originally had a Jetaway or TH350, the original driveshaft works. You need a properly built 200-4R, the correct speedo gear for your car, and a way to trigger the lockup torque converter (many kits for this are available). Shifter solution is up to you and there are many options for this.

not sure how many of these claims are valid but doesn't look like the best company to buy from! i did a google search for monster transmission to look into that OD thing for myself and that was one of the first results that came up D: they have ALOT of bad reviews and alot of them are recent!!

I'm considering a 4l80e conversion for my turbo 400 equipped 442. I ran across this place while doing some research: jakesperformance.com. He posts on another forum I visit and seems very knowledgable as well as helpful with advice. I have no personal experience with him to offer, but the site might be worth a look for you.

Jakes Performance is the way to go. Some years ago I converted my '66 Tempest wagon to a 2004r from a TH 400. Never liked the way it shifted (I originally bought it from another vendor) I shipped it to Jake, and he sorted out all the shifting problems (it banged into each gear at any RPM range) he also installed the Billet peices I needed at the power level I have (450 hp 455 Pontiac) (for extra insurance). Glad I shipped it when I did, because the "stock style" anchor pin for the 2nd gear band was cracked and ready to break. (And he did all this for a cheaper price than the original vendor. Got it back, and it shifts smooth at regular driving speeds, but as you get on the throttle it shifts nice and firm (but not jarring) in all gears. Doesn't leak and even runs cooler than before. I am going to put one in my Cutlass as well now. Very nice and helpful guy. Tell him what you want and he will deliver it for you.

What would be recomended for a "slim-Jim" replacement? Have a '63 F85 and I don't know who to talk to. I am keeping the 215. I was told that to fit a turbo350 or a 4speed auto that I would have to fab the doghouse, but then what do I do about the steering column? The N switch? Can I use the old carrier bearing? This all sounds TOO much. I want to build the stock tranny. WHERE do I get parts?!

Make certain you check out Bow Tie Overdrives, I just did as 200R4 in my 65 and got a lot of the parts from these people, they are very nice, answer the phone every time and seem to know what they are talking about. Mine worked perfect from the initial start up.
