Engine mounts for higher horsepower cars

Hello,

I have put the big block back in my 72 for the Sick Summer race in a few weeks. The engine is about 550ish horsepower and i may be using a small shot of nitrous. I put new mounts in the car about 12 years ago and were fine with the last motor. This has more movement when i accelerate. Besides a motor plate what is everyone using to help with the torque? I see there are some solid mounts on ebay. Should I put one on the driver side and leave the stock mount on the passenger side?

I fabricated solid steel mounts for both sides of the engine, and used a stiff rubber (Moroso, probably not still available these days) trans mount.

If it's not a dedicated race car, I prefer a solid mount on the drivers side only.

Maybe simply adding a strap is all you need?

I use a solid mount. But I seen a turn buckle used also on driver's side. He used lock tight on the turn buckle because I asked him about it.

632HP 496.
Stock mounts with a chain on the drivers side.
It’s been that way since 2008. Don’t over think it.

Some street strip cars are running this mount. The person that makes them is on facebook.

Does anyone make a polyurethane or poylgraphite mount? Any advantage / disadvantage to running this? Asking for a friend .

I drilled a hole in the motor mount and put a 5/16 bolt in it. I have far less than 500hp though....ha

If these fit, that's the way to go.

No, that's why you have the home brewed ones above. Advantages: more power to the ground, will not rear the rubber and let the engine move. Disadvantage: more vibration through the car.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with a chain or turn buckle from the head to the frame, either.

I use the mount made by Mike.
Excellent quality and fit.
Does the job without using an ugly chain and turnbuckle.
Super nice guy !
