Is it ok to spray duplicolor sand able primer directly of their etch primer without sanding first?

 

I can't see a reason why not other than you won't get as smooth a finish. Check the directions for the window of time needed so the first coat will be dry enough so as not to lift with the second coat.... Tedd

 

X2 Tedd. I would suggest making sure the etch time was dried properly,and that depends on weather conditions and humidity. Larry

 

Sanding is necessary, if the paint or primer you have on the piece has dried too long. Usually, if you have to wait overnight, you have to sand before continuing. Real paints (as opposed to spray bombs) will have instructions with flash time between coats, and recoat time. If you go past the recoat time, you have to sand. With cans, they might tell you, but I've found the information is not always accurate. Temperature, humidity and air flow also have influences over dry time, recoat time, etc., as well as how you apply the paint (film thickness, for one)
