ignition lock cylinder removal
I have run into the same problem. I posted a more detailed explanation in a thread in Other Forum. The slot I needed to put the thin bladed screwdriver in was covered over by flashing. Follow the screw post down & push lightly, it will expose the real slot. See my other post for more info. Posting from a phone is tuff. Ken
Posting the year and model of the car you are asking about would be helpful.
For example, on my '68 Cutlass you need to insert the key and then put a paper clip in a hole on the front of the ignition switch to be able to remove the switch assembly. For other years and/or models there are other methods.

SO the big question is do you have a key? It takes the key and a paper clip. put the key in and in the little hole next to the key hole push in a paper clip that has been straigthened out, turn the key to the left kind of past the acc spot and pull. it should come out. If you don't have the key take it to a lock smith or get another ignition switch.
