Hi all,

new member alert! I'm looking to buy a 1963 F-85 Cutlass 4 speed manual. The car is in amazing, rust-free condition with a beautiful 2 tone silver paint job. All black interior in excellent shape. I'm new to classic Oldsmobile's having owned my beloved 55 Coronet for a good few years now. What do I need to look out for in regards to the Olds, its got the 215 CUI engine(non-turbo).

Thanks in advance.

Regards Zakk Larsen

Welcome to the site, post some pictures of your find when you get a chance. We have a few members that are extremely familiar with this model, hopefully they will chime in.

Welcome. Your 63 has a lot of one-year only parts (most sheet metal, steering linkage, dash, etc). The Olds version of the 215 uses different heads, pistons, valve train, and block from the Buick/Rover versions. I've had no problems with mine since I got it four years ago. The trans is a T-10, which is a much better choice than the Rotohydramatic 5 automatic. Be sure to use a proper mix of antifreeze and water to avoid electrolysis problems in the cooling jacket. Otherwise, enjoy.
