hi im thinking about buying a 72 hurst olds that needs ALOT of work!!!!! what do 72 hurst olds sell 4 that are beat 2 sh-t but have original drive train???? i figure i can have it very nice painted/int/running for 8-10k thats with the price of the car, what are 72 hurst olds worth?? would this be a good investment?? ive been looking for a hard top sx455 w32 but i think id be happy with a 72 hurst!! what do you olds pro's think????

 

In my opinion, if you buy the car and get it all fixed, painted and running and its overall condition after turns out to be a 7 on a scale from 1-10 (10 being best) I'd say in today's market it would be worth at least 20K if not more. The original drivetrain or matching components are a big deal to most collectors or enthusiasts. There are a couple other things that could add to the value of a Hurst also:
Some 72's had a factory sunroof
Some 72's are actually W-30 cars denoted by the X in the VIN and matched w-30 engine parts.
Some 72's were actually used at the Indy 500 race track and any documentation proving that could also make the car more collectable.
There is a club and website for Hurst Olds where you might be able to get more opinions and info.

If it's still got the original hood, OAI Air Cleaner,and the engine is original and complete, try to buy it for 3-6k, I sold a very complete, running 72 H/O for 6k. The power roof is tough to find parts for, and the vinyl top material is even harder to find.
