New Member in need of info

Hi all I just joined ClassicOldsmobile .com. I am the proud new owner of a 57 supper 88 hardtop or is it called a holiday coupe? I need help figuring out my firewall tag and am looking for suppliers for vintage olds parts.
Thanks

usa parts supply has a lot of the harder to find parts if you cant find them anywhere else.

olds obsolete and fusick also are some parts providers i have used with olds obsolete providing NOS parts

lately i have had some luck finding basic parts from oreileys and pep boys but dont assume the guy working the counter there knows much of anything since they dont deal with vintage cars too often

Super 88.

Holiday means hardtop in Olds lingo. If it's a four-door, it's a Holiday sedan. If it's a two-door, it's a Holiday coupe. Later on, Olds would use the term "Celebrity" or sometimes "Town" to designate a four-door post car, and "Sports" to designate a two-door post. So you could have a Celebrity Sedan or a Sports Coupe.

But for '57, Olds called their post cars simply two-door sedans and four-door sedans.

Please post photos of your car.

If you want help decoding your firewall tag, post what it says here, or, better yet, post a clear photo of it.

Welcome to a fellow 57 owner

Yes pictures are a must

First thing get your hands on a shop manual. Evelbay has them from time to time. Make sure you get an original the copies I have seen have terrible pictures.

Go here for parts, best there is http://www.fusick.com/1935-60_olds.htm

That's a 4-door hardtop, so it's a Holiday Sedan. Very nice looking car.

Production of the Super 88 Holiday Sedan for 1957 was among the highest of all the Oldsmobile lines that year at 46,688. Only "regular" 88 (called Golden Rocket 88) 4-door post sedans and 2-door hardtops (Holiday Coupes) saw higher production at 57,251 and 50,787, respectively.

Base price on your car was $3237.

Base engine on your car and on all '57 Oldsmobiles was a 371 cubic inch V-8 rated at 277 hp. One optional engine was available on all '57's , called the "J-2". It consisted of three two-barrel carbs, if I'm not mistaken, and it was difficult to keep in proper tune, if I recall what I've read on these correctly. It was rated at 300 hp.
