Introductions
Hi. I've been here for about a month, and just now stumbled upon the intro thread.
I live in Ottawa Canada, and earlier this year picked up a black 68-69 Cutlass convertible. It's a driver, and needs some work. 350-4bbl, 350th, and I LIKE IT! Only problem is the price of gas, and all the stinkin' rain this summer. My buddy Cory has a gold 69 that he rebuilt himself, and is in way better shape than mine, but mine looks cooler.
Cheers!

Just joined the site after lurking for a while.
I've got a 66 Delta 88 Conv't that's been a work in progress for the last +/- 5yrs. Mechanically, I've done lots of work and its pretty decent but it could use a little work on the body. I'm at the point where I need to either fix her up or let her go to someone that can care for it and garage it like it deserves. Lots of great info from this site so far.
Thanks for a great forum.

Hi I'm Chad. I guess I'm posting this a little late. I'm 36 married with two little girls, I call them the tyrants! They are fun but very expensive! I'm self employed as an independent truck Driver. Or owner operator. I am the sole support at this time and for a long time now so funds to support the addiction have been short. That and a wife that is only dimly beginning to appreciate a classic car ! I have owned a series of oldsmobiles over the years including a 74 cutlass supreme with a 245 horse rocket(I believe it was a rare one anyway), a 77 442, a 79 cutlass, and a 79 cutlass cruiser with a healthy Chevy drive train (thanks Dad). I had 68 f85 that became a doner car, which is how I discovered this site. A friend gave me that car. His wife wanted it gone, and really by the time I got it there wasn't much left as it has sat through multiple Wisconsin winters without a back window. I picked up a cutlass hard top last summer In the hopes of making one from the two, for the most part I think I will be able to do it, but the shell will need replacement, or an insane amount of work. otherwise I now have a running small block, 2 complete front clips, trannies, and one very tired 455 that I'm in the process of tearing down. Wish me luck! I posted a couple pics as it stands today. " In a basket"

hey everyone I am Sam.... I am married w/4 kids. I live here in FTW(ft wayne) Indiana. I have been Tattooing almost 22 years. My love of fast rumbly cars started when I was very young and wouldn't sleep. My dad would put me in his 68 firebird and drive around. I would be out like a light. Funny thing is that it didn't work if the car didn't "rumble". I have owned a 65 Fairlane, a 57 pontiac, a 50 chevy, and a 53 chevy truck. I loved that 57 pontiac with the 348 in it. I have kids and so I need something a little more "family" friendly. LOL. so I traded for a 1966 delta 2 door. My kids are already loving the burnouts... not looking to restore... just clean her up a little and then drive her forever. I stumbled on it sitting in the back of a lot here in town, been in love ever since.
I am hoping to get back into the Olds scene. My first car was a 78 Cutlass and I learned how to do many repairs/modifications (with the help of my uncle) on that car (engine/transmission). My second car was a 65 Cutlass that I bought from the original owners family. I learned how to do suspension work (upgrade brakes/rebuilding front/rear suspension). I sold that car back in 2002 and have regretted it ever since. Currently I have a 68 El Camino and a 63 Nova, however, I am thinking about getting another 65 Cutlass in the future.
well my name is Wilson I'm 18.From hobart ,IN, i own a 1987 cutlass supreme!!! i have not been alive for a long time lol but i was born in a olds {1984 delta 88 sexy!}
cant wait to share an get some info!

I say welcome to you both. Oldsrocket, get yourself an olds, quick. Easy, being born in an Olds isn't something many of us can say, although I may have been concieved in one.
Hello, my name is John I am 20 and I am from Pittsburgh PA. I was so close to having my dream car(of that time) when I was 16 as my first car. 1983 cutlass I was trying to save from the kidney foundation and the person who was offering to give it to me had it stored at their mothers...the mother said get some front wheels and tires(it was on jack stands) for the front and it is yours...I looked and looked and looked and couldn't find any cheap enough, one day I went to just stare at the car adn I saw that there was wheels and tires on the front seat, but no one was home for me to get the keys from...tried to call later and by the next day the car was gone. Truly sad. Skip a few chevys/gmc and I am now the current owner of my uncles car that I have admired since about that age, probably younger. The 1984 delta 88 2 door hard top. I wouldn't have it any other way I love that car....once I get some money flowing it will be a 1-2 year project and I can't wait. I currently own... 1979 dodge powerwagon (I do not hate dodge ford and chevy like some of us do) 1987 suzuki intruder (bike) 1984 delta 88 (olds 350) 1984 cadillac eldorado triple black (olds 350 with some bad head gaskets) I aspire to own.... 1984 hurst/olds, 1969 cutlass, and a 1966 delta 88 (among others)
I have never been without a white Chevy Truck for over 35 years.
If you "aspire to own a 69," I aspire to sell one on this board.
You seem to be the one to ask about 69 olds...but judging by your pictures they are probably priced a little higher than what I have....yet
And Hey I jes love "69"

Hello all, my name is Damien and I'm located in Orange County, California.
Earlier this year my wife wanted to get a classic car from the 50's to go along with her interest in rockabilly music and the culture. After a lot of searching through Fords and Chevys, she finally found the new love of her life in July 08, which is a 1950 Oldsmobile 98 (hence the screen name) with the Rocket 88 engine. She found it on ebay from a seller in Kansas and had it shipped right to our driveway. It wasn't until later that we found the connection between the Rocket 88 and the first rock and roll song which made the deal even sweeter. As for the car, it is complete with all original parts and runs ok but needs a complete restore.
Generally my interests are motorcycles but as a default member of the household, am now engaged in working on her Olds and have already rebuilt the master cylinder and did a front brake job. I work in the computer tech industry during the week but don't mind getting my hands dirty on the weekends tearing things apart and putting them back together.
I'm joining this forum to gain more knowledge about the car, and hopefully be able to share some of my own experiences to help someone else.
Here's a link to some pictures of the car while it was in Kansas.

Chuck, you will definitely learn from reading here, I have. Damien, that is one cool car and the few blemishes can be correct without too much effort. I agree that the powder blue color is really nice. Find yourself some rear fender skirts, wide white wall tires (Coker sells some), and a nice visor and your wife can take it to all the rock-a-billy car shoes.
Hey I'm Brandon and in San Diego, CA in the Navy. I'm 28 years old and married but that's soon to be over and done with, unfortunately. Anyway, I bought a 71 Cutlass Supreme about a month ago with a 455/th350/10 bolt, nice black paint, bad interior, and Keystone Klassics. The paint actually needs a bit of work when you get up close, but the body is straight and rust-free. Somebody learned the hard way not to leave heavy stuff in the trunk while taking corners since the repaint. Ouch. It's still a great driver. I'd like to tighten up the steering a bit (smaller ratio box and new bushings/balljoints one of these days) and replace pretty much the entire interior. It was originally green, now painted black and peeling in spots. I'm thinking saddle, if I can piece together the whole thing. Anyway, I look forward to gleaning any info off you guys that I can and hopefully add some of my own. Take it easy!

Covered in dirt, running on 7 cylinders when my little bro had it (stupid shaft mount rockers!!!!!!)
QuinnsCutlass002.jpg
QuinnsCutlass001.jpg
Clean, running on all 8 to the tune of 281.7hp/411.2ft-lbs at the wheels. It's pretty stock and quite civilized. I think after the minor bodywork and interior, a set of headers and more cam are on the list.

Oh yeah, and it's got centercaps now!

Newcomer with 64 Cutlass Holiday Coupe
Hi, My nane is Allen and I am a 52 year old Oldsaholic. Didn't used to be. Didn't wanna be. It just happened.
Actually, I spent a few years looking for "the CAR". I didn't want a chev-anything and Mopars, well, I had one of those. I wanted something different and found this 64 Cutlass close to home in Missouri. I have since gotten hooked on Olds and the Olds history.
I am replacing the 403 it currently has with a (hopefully correct) 330. (Perhaps I can direct some of you answer guys to my post about the cowl tag decoding under the Cutlass heading)?
Regards,
Allen

Welcome to our site guys. Hope you enjoy it and gain something from your time spent here. Brandon, nice looking Cutlass, mine was an "S" model, I really liked that car but had to sell it when I got transferred to Okinawa. Allen, that is one sweet looking '64. I had a '64 when I was in California for a while, it was purple-ish with a nice white interior. I wish I hadn't sold that one.
Hey, all, Jeff here. I'm a newbie here. Currently only have a killer old injected 303 in a Henry J gasser.Screwed up 20 years ago and never got around to paying my Father for my half of the '71 442 ragtop "we" bought! I tried to pay him the $2250.00 I owed him last year... he thought that was funny!
hi,I'm James from north Carolina just found the site. i drive a 96 olds ciera SL.I'm really looking for help on making this thing mean and fast,Ive owned it for 4 years and I'm ready to do some work to it.in high point NC all there is is cruising and street racing fast cars and imports i want to make my car a little faster so i can have some fun on the weekends
Hi Everone, I'm new. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I have owned a 1966 Delta 88 425 V8 since 2003. Bought it off an old Mechanic in Ontario, Canada. He was the 2nd owner. He purchased it from the proverbial "Little Old Lady". The car has been garaged all it's life, never winter driven and hardly ever out in any inclement weather. I bought it "right" along with umpteen boxes of tune-up parts and the like. I even got the Chassis Shop Manual and the Master Parts Catalogue. Both were filled with the old mechanic's notations concerning his (now mine) Delta. This guy is amazing, he can quote GM part #'s from memory and can tell you what interchanges with what. He's now 79 yrs. of age and he should be considered an "Oldsmobile National Treasure". I call him up every so often just to see how he and his missus are. Salt of the earth those 2 are. I have also just bought 2 Delta 88 Convertibles (barn stored for 24+ yrs) because I have wanted a ragtop B Body to go along with my 2Dr. HT. I'll have my work cut out for me there but what the heck, we all need some sort of vice, eh? This is an awesome website. I stumbled on it quite by accident. Nice to be here and Best Regards to All. When my son gets home from Univ. I'll have him post up a photo of my car. I'm too computer illiterate to do it myself. Cheers for now. Ron

79Cutlass, Welcome to our site. A 350 would probably be the easiest swap. Contact Joe Padavano when you get around to doing it. He has lots of answers concerning engine swaps in the G bodies (that is a G body I think, first or second year). Good luck.
Sorry guys, guess I missed some more of you.
Mike, four Oldsmobiles, you are definitely into them! Post a new thread to sell that '86 Supreme, you might get lucky.
Jeff, did he accept the money? We would love to see photos of your Henry J. Gassers are cool!
James, we have a few other Alero owners here on the board you should get to know. Welcome to our site.
Ron, I had a chance to buy a '66 Dynamic one time and should have. I wanted the interior for a '69 Delta I had. The Dynamic had beautiful white interior with bucket seats and a console. The guy said no sale unless I buy the whole car, I passed on it and now the Delta is history. Should have bought the Dynamic.......

Welcome to our site Larry, I owned a '71 Cutlass S once but it was a coupe. Fun car. Do you mean a nursery as in plants or as in children. Just wondering. Have a good time with your Cutlass and tell you daughter "maybe some day dear"...

. Welcome to our site, sounds like you have a nice car.
