I know it’s not an Olds. But I thought i would share.

My youngest son and I have been working on this for the past 4 years and it is finally near the finish line. Hope you enjoy the pics.

He bought this for 3500.00 4 years ago at the age of 19

The tear down begins

The wood in the bed was completely rotted out.

As we were in the middle of stripping the paint. He decided he wanted to make it a short bed. As our days off conflicted we decided to call in some help. A big shout out to Jesse and his family at Mystik Rods and Customs. They had it cut down and put back together in a week.

He decided to spend the money and let Jesse do the metal work and paint.

Getting closer. At this point it has been in the body shop for 6 months.

Finally got it back home for final assembly.

I think the bed turned out sick.

We are still working on the interior but it is coming along.

This whole thing has been a ton of work. My son is pretty stoked. It turned better than he imagined. Hope you enjoyed the photos.

Very nice, love father and son projects that work out. How old is your son?

He is 23 now. My favorite part of it was sitting in the backyard with him polishing all the chrome. It took hours and we would talk about all sorts of things.

Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and passing it on to your son. The reward of his hard work and your encouragement will stay with him forever.

Well done truck!👍

I can only narrow it down to 64-66☺️ but the 66 is the last year Chevrolet/GMC pickup I really liked. I can tolerate a 67-72 but the box trucks never did much for me.

Was this an original V8 truck?

Kid I worked with has his grandfather's 62 Custom stepside 9 foot longbed, 283/PG and dealer installed airconditioning. Neat truck but he doesn't really like the 9' longbed. I OTOH think it's a pretty cool truck.

Sorry all,

It is a 1964 Chevy C10. 305ci small block TH350.
We also did a front disc conversion from a 1975 C10, I told him we can build a bigger engine for it but he said it was fine for now. Besides he said the extra power will probably just break stuff. What is wrong with kids these days. When I was his age there was no such thing as to much power. Just shows he is matured beyond his years I guess.

Enjoyed reading the thread and seeing the pictures. It is nice to see a vehicle kept very close to original, color and all.
