Really that's all that counts. If they mixed it to match the original trunk hinge color and did an exact match, I'd be wanting to keep them on my short dial list. Shops like that aren't that easy to find. Super pleased to hear you will be driving it. I kind of felt like I wanted to preserve mine as a time capsule for the longest time. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. If I die without driving it, who wins?? So my agenda has changed. I'm doing some safety fixing and some personalization to the car but I intend to drive it as much as I can before me or the car croaks.

FWIW, my paint is NOT the original code 14, but I like it a lot better. Again it comes down to the fact that the owner is happy with it.

Can't wait to see yours all done. BTW, thx for the info on the grills. Sounds like I've got some work ahead of me.

Beebee,

Do you have any insite on how the stripes were applied, did you paint white first, then base coat over a stencil?

Take your time putting on the bumpers and tape of the paint at least 3 layers deep to avoid any scratching. Lining up the bumper height and gaps can be tricky.

Rear bumper looks good. What's with all those 'tiny' pics though. Now you need to restore those tail lights.

Unless you want to have your OEM sent out for straightening and re-chrome? I'd go with a repop from aftermarket like Tamraz. Bought one of their rear bumpers and am very happy with fit and finish. I would expect the same for the front one. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1971-1972-Cut...item5ae4943cda

Gosh, I would have done all that before putting on that gorgeous paint. BTW what's with the rusty gas tank??? Time to drop it and put in a new one. Maybe you'll find your build sheet on top....

How hard was it to drop that rear end?

Well that's a relief! Mines gotta come out this year to get the carrier and gears changed out. Hope the bolts on mine are as easy...

Glad your tank is ok. Why not just clean it up really good and spray it with a clear to maintain that original metal look? Hee hee hee....I'm so diabolical....print a fake build sheet and stick it up under the tank...
DON'T FORGET!! When you drop your tank that's the perfect time to replace all the rubber gas lines. Including the one going to the fuel pump!

Just found out last month that mine had been leaking...for the second time. I've already repaired it once. No more. Ordered a new GM34R from NAPA.

Looking really good! Those RCA's look great; they're not boxed are they? I sooo look forward to doing more bushings this year. Same as you.

I'll be taking off my front bumper in a few weeks to get to the stone shield (cracked)/grills and rad support. I know the procedure to get it off no problem. Getting it back on? That's a whole new ball game. Right now the bumper is slightly offset on the RS near the center. When you did yours did you do it by yourself or have help? I'd love to know any tips you used for proper aligning. I'm planning to also redo the brackets so everything will be apart - need to really take a lot of pics showing the fitment before dissassembly.

So I have some fun times ahead; sounds like. Have to get my son motivated to help somehow. I have a set of boxed RCA's that I'll use. Thinking about buying the box kit and welding it in? The boxed set I have is somewhat pitted (came off a 70 Skylark). The ones on the car are flawless except they need new bushings.

Thx for the reply. Any pics you have of the install would be greatly appreciated.

Looks really nice. Since my replacement is a new GM34R from Spectra, I will probably just end up coating it with clear and installing it. With some luck my undercarriage will start looking as nice as yours. Are you planning to pull the driveshaft and clean it up too?

Very nice! Can you see the drool all over my 'puter station'? All ya need to do now is black out that overspray in the wheel wells. Make it look perfect! I don't think my sons butt was as smooth as your cars paint when he was born. Overall I'd have to rate your car as 11/10. Well done!
