My 65 Olds convertible top goes down just fine. But, when I try to put it back up, it needs a little assistance for a quarter of the way and then, it is fine. Is it just low on fluid or something else?
Thanks,
Kevin

It sounds like you are low on oil, there should be a small plug in the top of the pump body, use dexron, and use a syringe to put the stuff in, have rags handy because we are sloppy and voila...cycle the top up and down a couple of times to get rid of the air bubbles...

I don't know what the inside of your trunk is like...but on a Cutlass we go in through the trunk and under the dust cover for the top...it's a little awkward but don't wear your Sunday clothes...
Yes on the type A trans fluid...

I have a similar problem with my 69-98 but not sure how to get to the pump. Would I have to remove the cardboard to see the pump? Do you do this on your cutlass or is the dust shield on the trunk side?
Well its done. Not a messy job. It was a cardboard cover,
used a ear syringe to fill it. It took about 4oz, Dextron VI
no type A avalible. After working the air bubbles out I was
able to put another ounce in. Works fine now.
Thanks Guys for your advice.
