I've been a member here for 2 years and recently picked up a 1969 Olds 442, 4speed.
I've been looking for awhile and finally found the one
Anyway, Started doing basic maintenance, oil change, air filter, PCV and some minor interior work
Now the fun part, I tried replacing the fuel filter and the hard fuel line coming off the fuel pump to the carb hit the T-Stat housing.
Is there some trick to removing it without having to remove the T-Stat housing? I figured it would only take me 10 minutes at the most to do this but No.
Hav to assume end is rusted tight
best bet is to remove whatever you hav to to get pump / line /carb off..thats if line is Worth saving
I have used acid from eyedrop bottle & back n forth with a quality line wrench with great success but dont recomend it...need fan for ventilation ..rags water & bakin soda..glasses gloves respeatr
If u can get an end off...remove line & what its attachec to , to a goog place to operate on it
BE CAREFUL NOT 2 DAMADGE THREADS IN CARB
take your time....not goin to b quick...it is doable

I can loosen the steel line flare nut from the carb but there isn't enough room to pull it out of the fuel inlet fitting.
The line hits the T-Stat housing.
I'll give that a try, Thanks I appreciate your help.
Gave it a try and didn't work.
I think I'll cut the line prior to the flare nut, remove it then remove the long inlet fitting and replace it with the short inlet fitting as well as a new fuel line.
I really don't want to remove the thermostat housing.

decide for yourself the Lesser of evils think what you meant to say was I really don't want to pull the carb off n break the seal th gasket has to intake
seeing as how your fuel line unthreaded I'd say those two bolts in the thermostat should come out easily as well and if its an aluminum one should be inspected for corrosion anyway from the inside out
