Can’t remove fuel line from Carb

Anybody have any ideas in how to remove the fuel line from the carb? My fuel pump went out and after I replaced it the threads on the line won’t thread. So I ordered a new one but now can’t get the old line off for the life of me. It’s. 72 olds cutlass supreme 455.

If you have a new hard line, perhaps cut the existing line short enough to allow the filter housing to unscrew from the carb body, then take the housing to a work bench. Clamp the filter housing in a vise and use a line wrench to remove the flare nut. If you inadvertently mess up the threads on the carb body it becomes a really big job to repair, but getting a new filter housing is easy.

Step away from the carb. DO NOT use a vice grip on the fuel fitting. Get a correct 1" wrench.

What do you mean you can't get it off? Is the wrench spinning on the nut?

Thanks Everyone, I ended up taking Fun71's advice and just cut the line, then unscrewed the fuel filter housing. That fuel line feels like it's welded solid to the Fuel filter housing.

I couldn't get the fuel line to unscrew from the fuel filter housing. It was stuck pretty solid. Ended up cutting the line since I had to put a new one one anyway and just unscrewed the fuel filter housing from the carb.

Add a dab of anti-seize to the new taper fitting threads and the OD of the tubing between the nut and the tube down at the flare... a light application. This will avoid this problem with future filter changes.
Only tighten the housing and line enough to not leak. Replace the nylon gasket between the horn and housing.
A 1" wrench numbs down the "feel" and most meat hooks will over tighten the housing and the smaller line nut.

High-quality line wrenches are your friend.
