They expect oil to reach $300.00 a barrel if Russia shuts off the spigot, looks like our old cars are gonna need a lot of dusting!

$4.99 in Tacoma area for super unleaded. We're getting what we collectively asked for. Maybe we will make better choices in the future.

$3.89/gallon in DFW yesterday (3/07/2022). How high can you go. Wouldn't be hard to get political on this one. The madman Putin is not going to shut the spicket off as long as we are dumb enough to buy from him so he can finance his war.

As long as China is the manufacturing center of the universe, Russia will have a major oil customer, regardless of who severs the tie.

and I expect their profits will be even higher with the artificially restricted supply driving oil from $60/barrel to $130/barrel since then. There is a reason OPEC doesn't want to increase production.

I noticed around my area that some apartment complexes are starting to see people getting there gas syphoned. These people doing it are actually drilling holes in the gas tank and draining the stuff. This is getting crazier by the day.

We're solidly over $4, now. The 7-11 closest is $4.19, and they're usually one of the cheapest.

Exactly! US only purchased 3% of our oil from Russia. They have no shortage of customers no matter what the 'west' does.

Well , there is stupid things in many places. Many here thinks inch and miles are stupid and belong to the past.
But why should we complain to your system , you just need to respect different measurments in other countries
and deal with it.

Yesterday it went up to $4.09/gallon in DFW which is a $0.50/gallon increase in a week. I don't dare let my Expedition with a 30 gallon tank get down below a quarter tank. I couldn't stand the sticker shock north of $100.

Yeah, we adopted the Metric system in 1977 nationwide. We are a British Commonwealth so we were the Imperial measuring system for years. So for MPG we use the larger English gallon. Then some guys here use US gallons for measuring. It makes us unique and confusing😁.

I'll convert Aussie currency and metric to U.S. freedom units...

Adelaide, South Australia this morning,
$6.10 USD/gal regular unleaded. (about the same price as California)

Going on a cruise today, just cost me $157.99USD to fill the Delta 88 from empty.. 25.9gal.

My son is taking the Landcruiser away this weekend with his mates, cost him $183.40USD to fill it with diesel yesterday. 35gal tanks @ $5.24USD/gal Diesel.

I'm just waiting to see which gas station will be the first to start accepting bitcoin as payment because that way people can combat the massive swings in price these oil companies are imposing.

Its not going to change the price of oil but it can save you money with the way it fluctuates in price. Talk about massive price swings in a matter of minutes.

Some people are just clueless. How gasoline supply and demand work. And the greed of big oil.

simple law of economics 101: as with anything produced, there is supply of gas/oil and there is demand for gas/oil. As with any product, the price of gas/oil is set by the cost to produce to how much a consumer is willing to pay for that product. The oil/gas producers, as with producers of any other product, will charge as much as they can and still sell to the consumer in context of what other producer's are charging. The elasticity of demand for gas is somewhat inelastic, so when supply is reduced or demand increases, it causes pain to consumers-especially low and middle income consumers. But on the other hand, if supply is increased or demand drops, prices drop. The producers/consumers will react in accordance with the changes in supply and demand. This supply and demand is in the context of the global oil pool, so when there is a reduction in the capacity of supply and the infrastructure to deliver that supply, or demand increases in any region, the cost of oil/gas will go up globally. Under the current situation, demand was increasing following the opening up of the global economy following covid at the same time a major oil producing country was forced to reduce supply and future plans to develope infrastructure to inexpensively deliver that supply. And that producer was not Russia. And the forced reduction in supply and future infrastructure was not the result of anything the oil or gas companies did.

One final point regarding the greed comments, when the global economy first shut down following covid, the price of oil went negative and the price of gas dropped. Just as when the price of oil and gas goes up we shouldn't blame the oil and gas industry, when the price goes down we shouldn't praise the industry either. The industry is just reacting to an ever changing dynamic of supply and demand.
