Any suggestions for SI alternator conversion

First post to this board. I recently bought a 71 cutlass 350/350 convertible and would like to convert it to HEI. It's very original and has it's matching numbers transmission, but the original block/heads were replaced with a 73 block and 70 heads. I'm trying to find the right AC Delco SI internal alternator. Does anyone know a good alternator part number that would work good for the conversion. I can't seem to find an AC Delco 10SI 63 amp part # 321-41. Any suggestions?

Any 10SI from the junkyard should work fine. Just look for the highest amperage stamping that you can find (you may need a wire brush to find it).

If the wire positions in the back are wrong with respect to the mounting tabs, just remove the four small long screws that hold it together and "re-clock" the two halves to the position that you want, then replace them.

I actually prefer the newer 12SI models to the 10SI. They are essentially the same externally. Get one for a 1980s-vintage Olds with a 307. These are all 78 amp alternators. There's a 94 amp version used on Caddy Fleetwoods with the 307 also. Either one bolts directly to your current brackets and has a correct V-belt pulley. Do a little searching on RockAuto and you'll find a number of options.

Hopefully this link will be useful in determining a part number.
