1966 442 Frame interchangeability

Can anyone help answer this for me.... will a 1966 Chevy El Camino frame (boxed) work as a replacement for a 1966 442 convertible without modification? Are they the same between the front frame horns... and the length?

yes and no..bolt in...no....after some slicing and dicing maybe..its longer behind the rear end...and according to research..the 442 is diff in the front to for the big radiator ( I cant confirm, but the interchange shows 442 has its own interchange number)

66 Frame is 66 only. Olds only. Convertible is the same as hardtop except it has the center sections boxed. If you take a hardtop frame and box the centers it is then the same. 67 has different spring mounts in the rear and 65 is very different in a few ways.

I have a few 66 hardtop frames if you decide to go that way.

66-7 also had boxing behind the rear wheels. True, 66 Olds is unique--wider for the crossflow radiator, rear spring perches for tangential coils at top (not pigtail like 67-up).

A little off topic but the 64 442 convertibles used El Camino frames.
