67 C/S rear bumper install wiring

After some great amount of elbow grease I'm ready to put my rear bumper (with all new bulbs and lenses) back on the car. But the tail lights & backup lights wiring has the rubber grommets that seal the
trunk opening. This rubber grommet is stiff and basically stuck in position on the wire. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to loosen this grommet so I can
adjust the wires to fit better (How do I slide the grommet on the wires). As always any help is always welcome. Thanks Brian

Try sitting it in the sun for a couple hours.

Try using a hair dryer to soften the rubber

67 cutlass bumper wiring

Had the pleasure of using a heat gun on an old wire and pulled the covering rite off the wire, not good. So I just went at it and the wires and the rubber pieces were all in the correct spot to connect the wires thru the trunk openings, all good so far.
Then I looked at the wiring for the tail lights, no grommets. I went to JEGS and ordered 7/8" rubber grommets (without holes in the center). Drilled a hole in the center and made a slice for the wires. Great
fit darn happy. Went to work with a smile on my face that day. Bumper on = smiles all around.
