Tail light fuse .

The tail light fuse blows after about ten minutes . I’ve UN plugged the tail lights. At the rear trunk plug . Trying to get to headlight switch to replace it . Any way to trouble shoot this in steps ? Or has anyone ever had this problem? Can’t figure out why it takes so long for it to blow . If I leave the instrument lights off won’t blow . Checked every wire plug and bulb

I'm not certain what the actual issue is you're having, but the majority of us remain incapable of mind reading. I'm assuming your issue pertains to a 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe?

So you need to read minds to figure out I’m having a taillight issue ?I didn’t state the year or make by mistake I was in the forum for olds cutlass electrical issues .I’m not familiar with using the tools on this forum obviously .I am truly sorry if I caused you some kind of harm or distress in anyway . I just thought I might get some constructive help from fellow olds owners .I have searched every post I can find on the issue .

It was the headlight switch! One end of the coil for the instrument lights was burned in two . Strangely everything worked . Just blew the fuse after ten minutes . I found the pig tail under the hood it was taped up . Thank you !

The under hood light only works when the headlight switch is on; if you were curious on what the connection between the two are.

Underwood light

Yes I know I got a schematic today and studied it all . I’m getting a 12 volt light with a retractable cord to put under the hood .
